Saionji Seri (西園寺 芹)
CV: Kishio Daisuke (岸尾 だいすけ)
Seri is a child genius and is enrolled in advanced classes. He’s popular because he looks like a cute child, but he has a cold and cool personality. Because he’s extremely smart he tends to make fools out of teachers. He also looks at the world in terms of probabilities and logic. He’s very prickly on the outside but he has a soft gooey inside if people can last until the end. AND HE MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A PEDOPHILE.
Nazuna is transferred to her new school and loses her luggage. Aoi shows up and offers to take her to it and so she has no choice but to follow him. She enters the Forbidden Date Club’s clubroom without a fight but she tries to find out what their club does. No one tells her though and instead they take her to the rose gardens where she falls into debt with them. Nazuna thinks that they’re the worst but now she’s forced to play their game.
Her first date is with Seri at the rose gardens. Nazuna is feeling a little off balance at choosing to go out with someone who is younger than her and in far more advanced classes. She feels like she needs to do her best but Seri calmly tells her that he’ll escort her since she chose him. He gently warns her to be careful as she walks and then suggests that they should find her favourite color in the roses.
She tells him that it’s pink and he notes under his breath that she seems to prefer safe things. When Nazuna asks him if he said anything, he shakes his head and tells her that it was just her imagination. Then he informs her that the pink rose suggests that a person has a warm heart and its origins were from the English rose. Nazuna doesn’t understand a thing he said but she doesn’t mind.
They continue their walk around the garden after Seri tells her that they’ll have fun. However, as they continue to walk, Seri asks her if she’s having fun and Nazuna thinks about how she doesn’t mind it but she’s also surprised at how normal the date is. She tells him that she is having fun but this makes the smile fall off his face as he tells her that she’s lying and it’s obvious.
He accuses her of zoning out as she looks at the flowers and then informs her that her pace is too slow and boring. They’re going to start to do things his way and so he steps closer and raises his hand to her cheek. Nazuna freaks out inwardly but Seri just smirks and asks if she thought he was going to kiss her. She tells him that she didn’t think that at all but he tells her with a smile that he knows when she’s lying.
When she asks him how he knows that, he tells her that her reply is delayed by 5 seconds and her eyes tend to avert and dart around. These clues show that the possibility of her lying is high. Then he asks her why she’s frightened since a kiss is just two lips meeting. Seri doesn’t think that there’s any meaning in it. He surmises from this that she must have some interest in him.
Nazuna blushes and tells him that he’s wrong and touches her hair, which Seri immediately picks up on and points out that when a person touches their hair they’re trying to calm themselves down. Nazuna asks him what he’s trying to talk about and he tells her that he’s talking about people’s hearts and reactions. He asks her which side she likes to walk on beside him and she tells him that she’d walk on the left.
He immediately tells her that this means she wants to try and lead him, because if they were to hold hands then she would be using her dominant hand while he would have to use his left one. He expresses his surprise in her choice because he didn’t think she was that kind of person. When she asks how he is doing this he tells her that everything is just logic. He also appear smug at shattering her image of him being younger and therefore less knowledgeable.
Their date ends with Nazuna realizing that she doesn’t know what she thinks about Seri anymore. She wants to respond to his belief about how logic can uncover the truth of anything but she doesn’t know what to say. Anyway, when she manages to return back to her room safely and things happen. She ends up meeting Kakeru to be given the task of finding the date club’s weakness and to get his bugged charm.
The Kano brothers come to harass her in her classroom but she doesn’t put up a fight because she knows that they find her resistance fun. They go to the classroom and Atsumori tries to feed her his chocolate, but they’re caught by Seri who tries to blackmail the two brothers with an evil smile. Nazuna asks him if he’ll tell her the blackmail material that he has on the two brothers, which makes them panic.
Seri tells her that he’ll tell her but only when she decides to forfeit on the bet and let him win. She refuses to do that and so he shrugs and tells her that it’s a shame, but if she ever decides to change her mind then she can tell him. Anyway, Nazuna wants to severely punish the Kano brothers and so she’s going to take a few days to think about it. The rest of the day passes without incidence.
Dessert! He thinks that it was boring for him to understand Nazuna as quickly and as easily as he just did. He thinks of love as something to be used and then thrown away. This makes him curious as to what she would look like if she were crying. He thinks that it’s a good experience for people to find out that the world isn’t as sweet as they thought and for them to encounter some painful situations.
But he doesn’t want to lose the bet to the two idiotic brothers and so he’ll treat her nicely for now. That’s why he wants her to hurry up and fall in love with him. Seri corrects himself and says that he won’t just act nice but he’ll give her love. Then he reassures Nazuna in his mind and tells her that there’s nothing to be afraid of.
Blackout! Seri is grumbling at being woken up so early to do something he dislikes. He complains about various things but then inhales deeply and says that it might not be that bad. His voice becomes a pout as he tells someone not to look at him like that and then calls them an idiot. There’s a bit more talking about how he thinks that this would suit the person and that they should do it too.
The only reason he’s doing this is because the person wanted him to. The scene is revealed to show Seri in cooking clothes and he tells the person that the next time they can bake these things together. I’M FALLING ASLEEP FROM THIS GUY.
*** CHAPTER 2 ***
Nazuna gets her revenge on Aoi by shoving a piece of chocolate into his mouth, but it turns out to be one of Atsumori’s tricks to dissuade people from stealing his chocolate and so it’s actually really spicy. As the day progresses she gets warned by Suou to be careful of the date club. Anyway, the club reconvenes to discuss the Kano brother’s punishment. Nazuna wants them to write an apology letter but Seri knows that it’ll be useless.
And so the club comes up with the idea of a halloween competition instead. The person who receives the most candy wins and gets a pat on the head by Nazuna. Seri looks displeased at that but he doesn’t say anything. Instead, it’s the Kano brothers who kick up a fuss and they decide that the winner should get to kiss Nazuna.
The second date starts in the clubroom. Nazuna is surprised when she finds out that they’re not going anywhere but Seri decides that they should have a date inside this room. Then he suggests that they play chess, but Nazuna doesn’t know the rules because she has no interest in it. She thinks that it’s just a game but Seri frowns and berates her for her lack of knowledge about chess. He says that if she knew how to play then she’d know that it isn’t just a game.
Anyway, since she doesn’t know how to play then the victory automatically goes to him since she’s not even trying. Because he’s the winner she deserves a punishment and this makes Nazuna nervous. She asks him if he’s going to read her again, but Seri tells her that he can easily do that anyway and he’s not going to do a troublesome thing like that today. Instead, he wants her to say to him that she loves him until her voice becomes hoarse.
He informs her that it’s an experiment. People tend to change their thoughts when they repeat something over and over again. It acts like a suggestion on them even though they think differently. He asks her if she doesn’t find that interesting, but she tells him flatly that it’s boring. Seri huffs and tells her that she’s just a boring person if she finds that boring. However, that’ll just make it more interesting when she falls for him.
Nazuna tells him that she won’t say that to him, to which he nods and muses out loud on how in other words she’s falling in love with him just by hearing him talk. Nazuna protests loudly at this and he calls her boring again. But it’s a punishment game and so he tells her that she has to say it and then he accuses her of being afraid of actually falling in love with him, which is why she doesn’t want to try.
She tells him that she’s not and so he smiles deviously and tells her that there’s no problem with saying it then, since they’re just playing around. Unless she finds it embarrassing to say that she loves him. Nazuna denies it and so Seri tells her to hurry up and say it then. So she starts repeating it and finds her head becoming heavy and that she is starting to feel something about him.
Seri interrupts her halfway and asks if she’s fallen in love with him now and Nazuna is a bit confused since she was saying that sentence over and over. She feels like she might have some interest in him, but then she fights against the feeling and tells him that she hasn’t. She doesn’t hate him but she doesn’t like him either. Seri’s eyes widen in surprise at this. DID HE REALLY EXPECT THAT STUPID THING TO WORK? ಠ_ಠ
He glares at her and reminds her that he knows whenever she’s lying. Nazuna tells him confidently to look into her eyes then and realize that it isn’t a lie. He realizes in shock that she’s being honest and then he mutters 「ありえない・・・。僕のロジックは完璧だったのに。」(That can’t be.. My logic is perfect!). Nazuna wonders out loud if it’s because he told her about his logic that she was able to fight against it.
But even if she fell in love with him that would be a lie, because it wouldn’t be her true feelings. Seri snaps at her and tells her that she doesn’t know anything. He doesn’t care if her feelings are a lie or the truth. Seri has a mini temper tantrum and calls this whole thing idiotic. Nazuna is surprised since this is the first time she’s seen Seri lose his cool and she wonders if it’s because she’s right and he’s wrong.
Anyway, their date ends on this note. One day Nazuna wakes up to find the Kano brothers in her room and she shoves Aoi off the bet. When he starts choking she just panics and wonders what to do, but he was only acting. The day of the halloween party starts and her brother tries to get her to run away, but Nazuna refuses to. Because of that, he just warns her to stay away from the clubroom and so she hides out in the library.
When she gets a phone call she wonders if it’s Seri, but then she remembers that she never gave him her phone number. It turns out to be Kakeru and he invites her to the rose gardens to talk more about finding the date club’s weakness while Suou warns her about them. Anyway, she ends up going into the clubroom and seeing everyone. When she has to choose who to give the candy too she tells them that she gave it to someone else.
Aoi exclaims his disappointment but Seri asks her slowly what that thing in her pockets is then. This impresses Aoi who asks Seri if he’s a magician, but Seri just rolls his eyes and insults Aoi by calling him too simple. Though if he compares himself to Aoi then he probably is on the level of a magician. Anyway, Nazuna eats the candy and tries to run away.
Dessert! Seri is thinking about how at the time he wanted to have her candy. But he corrects himself by saying that he actually didn’t want the candy and what he wanted was to show up the two Kano brothers. He wants to hurt their pride but then he examines his feelings and realizes that he doesn’t just want that but he also wants something else. He wonders why Nazuna chose him out of everyone and if there was any meaning in that.
But it doesn’t matter to him. At any rate, he needs to make her look at him so that he can win the bet. Also, he doesn’t just want to win the bet. He wants Nazuna to relinquish everything of her to him
Blackout! There’s the sound of running water and Seri makes a curious noise as he looks at who it is. He isn’t surprised to find someone there and asks the person what they’re doing and that they should come to him. He chides them for dallying and then tells them that he had been waiting. Then he insults them for standing around and spacing out and he also orders them not to fool around or else he’ll get angry.
Then he talks about how he knows why they’re there and that the person should know that they can’t fool him. He laughs slyly and asks why the person is trembling and if it’s because they’re afraid. He tells them that there’s nothing to get nervous about and the scene is revealed to be Seri standing in front of a sink. He tells the person to hurry up before they catch a cold and then he grumbles at how he has to do everything.
*** CHAPTER 3 ***
Nazuna thinks that it might be a burglar in her room after she takes a shower and finds her door unlocked. Reito appears to check it out for her only to get molested by the Kano brothers. Anyway, the whole club ends up in her room in their pajamas and they decide to pass around a bottle that Aoi stole and drink from it. Nazuna refuses to drink from it and Seri comments on her cautious attitude.
It hurts her pride to run away from something but she remembers Kakeru’s warnings about how the contents of the bottle might be dangerous. Aoi butts in though and asks why she won’t drink it. He slyly asks if it’s because she wants something to pass it to her through a kiss. When Nazuna refuses he tells her to drink up then since it’d be boring otherwise. And so she ends up taking a drink out of it since it can’t be helped and then she collapses since it makes her head spin.
The scene switches to Kazuya and Kakeru in the principal’s office as they drink tea and Kazuya mutters a threat against the person who stole his bottle of special syrup since that means they can’t eat any shaved ice now. Anyway, the drama club is putting a play on but Daria isn’t chosen as the lead. When Nazuna finds Daria sulking in the clubroom she tries to encourage her.
But this just gets her snapped at by Daria who asks if Nazuna is mocking her or being sarcastic. Then Daria gets into a fight with Aoi and Atsumori gets involved in trying to stop the two. Everyone only stops when Wabisuke enters the room cluelessly. Anyway, the third date with Seri starts in the clubroom again except Seri invites her to look at this rare rose that only blooms in their school.
When they head to the rose garden, Seri tries to tell her everything he knows about the rose but Nazuna instantly interrupts him by gasping in amazement at the beauty of the rose. She’s never seen anything like it and she quickly grabs him to tug him closer to look at it. Seri instantly snaps at her not to pull him around and he trips because of that and injures his leg.
He’s bleeding now and when Nazuna suggests that they head back to the infirmary, he tells her that he’s not going to walk on his injured leg. Nazuna apologizes deeply and many times for it but Seri just ignores her and tells her to treat him here. However, she’s not carrying anything like that and Seri rolls his eyes at her before telling her to use the band-aid he gives her.
Nazuna suggests that they head over to the nearby bench then but then Seri complains again about how she can’t expect him to walk that far by himself with his injury. She should, at the very least, lend him her shoulder. She decides that he’s right and tells him that she’ll help him. Which makes him comment on how this is how it should be with her moving to his orders. Nazuna rolls her eyes at his attitude. SERIOUSLY? IT’S JUST A FREAKIN’ FLESH WOUND ಠ_ಠ. HE CAN ONLY COMPLAIN IF HE LOSES AN ARM OR GETS STABBED IN THE STOMACH.
However, she’s distracted by how close he is and when he asks her if anything is wrong, his breath tickles her ear and ruffles her hair. She tells him that it’s nothing and they finally get to the bench. There he asks her to take a proper look at his wound and tell him how it is as well as remind her that it’s her fault. Nazuna admits that it is and she’s feelign a guiltier by the second even though it’s not serious.
Since it’s still bleeding a little, Seri asks her if she will lick his wound clean then. Nazuna is startled at that but she quickly refuses. She continues to refuse even when he asks her if she wants him to get an infection because she didn’t clean it. After she refuses some more, he asks her why she won’t and she tells him that it’s because it’s embarrassing. He finally decides to forgive her this time and just tells her to hurry up and put the band-aid on.
Nazuna feels nervous though, since she’ll be touching Seri’s leg. She apologizes for touching him, but Seri tells her boredly that he doesn’t care if she touches him nor if she licked him. Then she asks if it hurts when she’s touching his leg but he tells her that it doesn’t. However, she is breathing on his leg and it tickles. Nazuna is finding this whole thing embarrassing and Seri has to prompt her to hurry up and place the band-aid on before she finally does it.
Aftewards, he congratulates her on a job well done and even Nazuna feels a little exhausted after that. Anyway, then he asks her what she would do if someone injured themselves on purpose to get her to touch them. Nazuna’s eyes widen in shock and she asks if someone would actually do that, but Seri just shrugs and chuckles slyly. Their date ends on this note.
The date club, under Aoi’s command, decides to put on a play to try and show up the drama club. Nazuna joins them without much protest since she wants to help Daria. Nazuna has another chat with Kakeru in his office and then she is escorted back by Daria who tries to put some moves on her. Wabisuke interrupts though and the two get into a fight. Nazuna stops Daria by taking on the role of Romeo’s father.
When everyone finds out that Aoi burned all their costumes, Nazuna wonders if they should withdraw. But Wabisuke quietly asks her if she can tell that to Daria and when Nazuna sees Daria’s depressed face she realizes that they can’t. And so their play continues on and the rest of the day progresses without much incident. Nazuna learns that Seri and her brother were working together to spread rumours about her and the Kano brothers.
Dessert! He’s thinking about the moment that she was pulled onto the stage and how interesting that was. Then he thinks about things might start changing with Nazuna around. In fact, he might start changing since the way that she is living is different from the way that he’s living.
Blackout! Seri tells Nazuna that she’s licking it wrong and that she has to lick it a certain way. Then he warns her that it’s dripping on one side and so she has to quickly catch it. He orders her to lick it all up and to get everything. Then he sighs in exasperation and tells her that she has some of it on the corner of her mouth and tries to direct her to it. She can’t find it though and so he tells her that he’ll wipe it off for her.
The scene is revealed to show them eating ice cream. Seri is smug at having shown her this delicious ice cream and since it’s so good, he forbids her from not finishing it. She needs to make sure that there is none of it left.
*** CHAPTER 4 ***
Nazuna is remembering Kakeru’s words about finding the weakness of the date club, but for some reason that makes her chest hurt. It can’t be helped though since she’s doing it to save her brother. She still hasn’t learned anything and she’s getting annoyed since her marks are falling with all that she has been busy with. A test is coming up soon and so she needs to study.
After class, she heads to the library to study. The moment she enters she sees Seri studying by himself and she’s struck by how different he is from the rest of the club members. The Kano brothers don’t study at all and neither does Daria, though she does practice for her drama club. Seri is the only one who seems to go to the library just as much as she does. Anyway, she decides not to bother him and heads to another table.
She starts working on her homework but she’s soon stuck on a problem. Seri comments from behind her on how troubled she looks and she jumps in surprise at his sudden appearance. Nazuna asks if he understands the problem, which he does, and so then she asks if he can teach her or give her a hint. Seri is surprised and asks her if she isn’t embarrassed to be asking for help. Nazuna thinks that it’s natural for people to ask for help when they don’t know the answer though.
However, Seri doesn’t see it that way. He thinks that only stupid people do that and asking other’s for help is worthless. Then he asks if he’ll get any merit for helping her like winning the bet and having her fall in love with him. Nazuna tells him forcefully that the bet and helping her solve a problem are two different things. However, he decides to help her anyway since apparently it won’t be interesting for him to win the bet due to her having a lack of brains.
He teaches her how to solve it and Nazuna is amazed at how smart he is and how well he teaches. She tries to ask him what he was studying before, since he was writing in his notebook very seriously, but Seri feigns confusion and asks her what she’s talking about because he wasn’t doing anything like that. She accepts his lack of interest in talking to the subject and thanks him again for helping her. But he tells her that he doesn’t want those easily said words and then he leaves.
Kakeru surprises her by greeting her from behind and he comments on how he wanted to glomp her by surprise. Anyway, then he asks if she’s found out about Seri’s weakness yet but she hasn’t. He frowns at this and when he hears her explanation about how she’s only noticed that Seri is really smart and has a good head, he points out that Seri also has a cute face and then he asks if her heart got stolen.
Nazuna denies this quickly but she does admit to herself that Seri has a cute face. Kakeru hums thoughtfully and thinks out loud about how Seri was probably a very cute kid when he was born. However, even though he’s loved by everyone around him he still turned out to be so cold. Nazuna asks him if he knows anything, but Kakeru sidesteps the question and asks her what she would do to find out more about a person she loves.
She thinks that the first thing she would do is find out what makes them happy, but Kakeru instantly tells her that she’s wrong. Very wrong. He sighs and talks about how she doesn’t understand but that’s probably because she’s still a kid. He informs her that if she wants to know more about someone then she has to find out what makes them angry. HUH.. REMINDS ME OF THIS QUOTE FROM ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS.
“To know a thing well, know its limits. Only when pushed beyond its tolerances will true nature be seen.” – The Amtal Rule (Chapter House: Dune).
Nazuna realizes that she doesn’t know what makes Seri angry or even why he joined the date club. She remembers a thing he said about them which was that everyone in the date club is broken in some way. She’s curious about that too but all her thinking has made her head hurt and evening has fallen. However, just as she’s about to head in she notices Seri carrying a lot of books and walking into the forest.
In order to find out more about him she follows him to a pond. Nazuna hides herself behind a tree and spies Seri flipping through the pages and reading and she decides that he must have wanted a quiet place to read. She turns to head back to school since she doesn’t want to disturb him and she wants to resume her studying for her test. But suddenly she hears the sound of tearing pages and turns around to find Seri tossing his books into the water.
They’re all school books and she gasps quietly. Seri notices her and asks her if she likes spying on people and that it’s bad taste to do so. Then he muses out loud on how she’s probably curious about why he’s doing this since she loves books. He explains to her that all of these books are garbage to him, because he has everything memorized, and he throws away garbage. Nazuna tells him to stop but he yells at her not to touch him.
She freezes in shock and he repeats his request more politely before tossing in the last of his books. Then he says that all the books are finally gone and that next he should probably throw himself in too and end it. Nazuna quickly grabs him in horror and tells him to stop it but he just coldly tells her that he already asked her not to touch him. He calls her an idiot and shrugs off her hand before walking off.
It takes a while before Nazuna can move to return to the dormitories. She doesn’t know why Seri was acting like that and she finds that his laugh, when he was throwing away his books, to be frightening. The next day her classmate is worried about Nazuna’s sickly color but when Nazuna reassures her that she’s fine, the classmate tells her that she was seen with Seri in the library yesterday.
Everyone knows that Seri is scarily smart but no one knows anything more about him. They don’t know anything more about him then they did when he first transferred. He’s hard to approach. Somehow, Nazuna is reassured at the fact that she’s not the only one who doesn’t know Seri. Her lunch time is spent thinking about how she wants to know more about Seri and then she surprises herself by how much she wants to learn about. She asks herself why, but she has no answers. STUPID TEENAGE ANGST.
Anyway, she wants to stop thinking about Seri and so she heads to the chapel because she’s curious about it. The light that shines through the stained glass captivates her and so she starts walking on the virgin road towards it, but then suddenly Seri’s voice calls out asking her about what she was going to pray for and to tell him. She jumps in fright at hearing his voice and asks him not to silently watch her like that.
He just tells her coolly that there aren’t any rules about having to announce his presence. Then he points out that she’s leaving dirty footprints all over the carpet of the virgin road and that a punishment will surely fall on her. Nazuna shivers in fright at that, but Seri just snickers and tells her not to be so scared since there is God doesn’t exist.
Seri asks if she’s angry but she tells him that she’s not and when she asks why, he explains that she may be studious but she’s a boring person. That’s why he wanted to tease her a little. Nazuna is hurt by that and tells him that she’s going to leave and Seri says nothing. But when she reaches the door and places her hand on it, she realizes that she doesn’t want to leave.
Whether this is for her brother’s sake or because she doesn’t want to run away from Seri is unknown to her. So she turns around and asks Seri if he’s hungry and if he is then they can eat lunch together. Seri asks her suspiciously what her motives are but she tells him that she doesn’t have any. He refuses though because he has no appetite and she tries to ask if they can eat together tomorrow then. WHY ARE YOU TRYING SO HARD GIRL?!
Finally, he tells her coldly that the only reason he is approaching her is because of the bet. He doesn’t want her to misunderstand him and then he walks off. This is exactly the same as yesterday and so Nazuna tries to stop him by blocking the exit, but he tells her to move and when she doesn’t he bites her on the neck. Then he comments on how she tastes like strawberry candy but that’s not his type.
He exits the chapel and leaves Nazuna standing there in shock. Anyway, time skip and they’re on their fourth date. Nazuna wanted to go somewhere quiet and she expected him to take her to the library but Seri brings her to the dungeons underneath the school instead. She asks him tensely why he brought her here to this place because the atmosphere is creepy, but he just tells her to be quiet because he’s reading a book.
This annoys Nazuna since they are on a date after all. She points out that his eyes will go bad if he reads in the dim light like this, but he just tells her that her worries are unwanted. She also knows that she shouldn’t bother him when he’s reading, but she can’t stop herself from asking him about the title. Seri asks her with a smirk if she’s that interested in him, but Nazuna just tells him flatly that she only wants to know about the book.
It turns out that he’s reading the book, “The Black Cat” by Edgar Allen Poe, and it’s a horror. She’s surprised that he’s reading it in this kind of atmosphere but Seri tells her patronizingly that this kind of atmosphere is perfect for reading horror stories. He feels pity for the people who can’t appreciate a good horror story. She tells him that she will definitely not want to hear about it.
Seri finally realizes that she must dislike horror stories and so he asks her if she does. Nazuna tells him that it should be obvious from her reaction. He smiles slyly and tells her that since they’re on a date then he should be trying to make it fun for her. When she thinks that he’s going to stop reading, he actually reads it out loud. He talks about how the cat was hung on the tree and then that night the house caught on fire.
When the man approached the house he saw a shadow of the cat and then Seri points out that a nearby shadow looks just like it. Nazuna shrieks in fright and clings onto him which makes Seri angrily tell her, with a blush, not to cling to him like that. She won’t know what he’ll do to her after this but Nazuna tells him that she’s alright with that. He blushes some more and tells her that it’s only because she’s so frightened that he’s letting her do this.
Nazuna lets go of him when she realizes that he must not like it, but she also notices that he’s embarrassed. Anyway, Seri takes pity on her and decides to stop reading the book since it’s not a date if the other person is scared out of their mind. He’ll change the subject to something more interesting. As he’s talking, Nazuna is nodding along and agreeing with everything he says.
So she falls right into his trap when he tells her that he’s going to tell her about the seven wonders of the school. This prison is one of them and he asks her if she ever wondered why they had a prison underneath their school. Anyway, it is said that an american prisoner was imprisoned here and he died a painful death separated from his love. They say that when people come here, his ghost will whisper “Kiss me please”.
Whoever hears that needs to kiss the closest person beside them and if they don’t then the american ghost will curse them to death. Nazuna is frozen in fright and then Seri innocently asks if she heard something. She freaks out and tells him that she didn’t hear a single thing, but he tells her 「いえ・・・聞こえましたよ、ほら・・・」(No… I heard something, here..). Nazuna tells him not to head over there to look and then suddenly a voice from behind her tells her to “Kiss me please”.
Nazuna screams and Seri tells her 「やっぱり聞こえましたよね？」(Just like I thought, you heard it right?). Nazuna keeps denying it though and telling him that she heard nothing but when he asks her if she’s sure, Nazuna caves in and tells him that she did. So then Seri asks her if she’s going to kiss him and when she asks why, he tells her that she probably doesn’t want him to steal a kiss from her.
So he asks her where she’s going to kiss him and she ends up kissing him on the hand. He notes out loud that he thought she would kiss him there and then he tells her that the curse should be avoided by now. Then Nazuna says to him that she wants to return home because she doesn’t want to be here anymore. Seri pouts and points out that she must not like him if she wants to leave already just when they’re alone together.
Nazuna calls him a liar because his eyes are laughing at her. Seri laughs briefly and admits that he got discovered. Anyway, the two of them return to the dormitories and he asks if she had fun today. She hesitantly nods and then he tells her to have good dreams tonight before leaving. Nazuna wants to reply with the same words but she ends up not being able to say anything as Seri disappears into the dormitories.
Dessert! Seri noticed Nazuna at the pond when she was still hiding, but he just acted like he didn’t. The reason he was so cold to her there was to put some distance between them because he didn’t like how nice he was to her when he taught her in the library. He’s also annoyed and confused at why she tried to have lunch with him. He noticed that her hand was trembling when she turned around to face him again.
Yet she still tried to get close to him. He doesn’t understand that. Humans are creatures that run away from things that frighten them and yet Nazuna continues to approach him. He thinks that it’s good that she fears him and that it’s right. He doesn’t understand Nazuna. He’s angry that he can’t understand her because he’s a person who can understand everything.
Blackout! He’s telling someone not to move and that they have to endure it. They need to look into his eyes and not look away. And then if they manage to get to the end then he’ll give them a delicious reward. YEAH I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS SCENE IS SUPPOSED TO BE? SERI’S BLACKOUTS ARE BORING.
*** CHAPTER 5 ***
Nazuna doesn’t understand Seri at all. She doesn’t know the things that make him angry or why he keeps everyone at a distance. She’s also feeling really sleepy since for the last few days she’s been loosing sleep thinking about him. She nearly falls down the steps because of this if it weren’t for Kazuya warning her. They stare at each other in silence for a bit until Nazuna realizes that Kazuya is a lot like Seri.
They both don’t talk much or show any emotions and so she gathers her courage to ask him why he doesn’t talk much. Kazuya informs her that it’s true that he doesn’t enjoy talking but he’s also hiding his true self. People who don’t talk a lot or show a lot tend to be hiding themselves and are completely different from those who do talk a lot, like the Kano brothers. Nazuna thanks him gratefully and blushes when he smiles at her.
She goes to her class thinking about his unusual words and how she understands it, yet finds it hard to comprehend. It seems natural that people would want to hide themselves. She sighs loudly and her friend asks her if she is having love problems, but Nazuna denies it forcefully and that startles her friend. Then it’s her friend’s turn to sigh loudly.
It turns out she didn’t sleep well because she kept on thinking about Suou and how cool he is. She likes him so much that she wants to be punished by him. WHO IS THIS GIRL? IS THIS A PERSONA OF ME IN GEKKA-LAND? ﾌﾟｯ(※థэథ)∵.*.∵ Nazuna points out that her friend must be in love because of these symptoms and her friend agrees to. Then Nazuna realizes that this applies to her too, but denies loving Seri to herself.
The only reason she’s approaching him is for her brother. When she goes to her next class she is brought out by a teacher and told that she will be addressing the assembly. After this, Nazuna decides to go buy something hot to drink before she catches a cold which would be bad if she’s going to represent the school. On her way she sees Seri being bullied by another kid who is yelling slurs at him.
She interrupts the two and the bully rudely tells her to leave since this has nothing to do with her. Then he asks crudely if she’s Seri’s girlfriend. Nazuna just ignores this and tells him to stop and she tries to ascertain whether Seri is alright or not, but he just yells at her to leave. He asks her who she thinks she is and that he wasn’t looking for help. He doesn’t want pity either and so she should just disappear.
The scene skips to Nazuna and she’s depressed over how angry Seri got and starts reading the book, “The Red and the Black” by Stendhal, and she tries to understand how the main character, Julien Sorel, felt about being killed by his passion. Suddenly Seri is heard telling her that the person who loved Julien was modelled after Stendhal’s mother. Nazuna is surprised to see Seri and he tells her that her face looks like she’s seen a ghost.
But that’s because she didn’t think he would have forgiven her this quickly. Anyway, Seri confesses that he’s been searching for her all this time because he has something to say to her. They go out into the hallway where he apologizes. She’s shocked into silence and asks him to repeat it but this makes him look away and grumble out that he’s only saying it once and then he asks if it really is that strange for him to apologize.
Nazuna quickly shakes her head and apologizes on her side too. Now that their relationship is fixed, at least that’s what she thinks, he invites her to eat dinner at the cafeteria with him, which surprises her again since he refused her the first time. They walk to the cafeteria together in the evening and Nazuna is wondering why her heart is soaring at the thought of being on good terms with Seri again.
As they’re walking Seri explains that what happened earlier, when he was being bullied, is a common occurrence and he just got used to it. There are people who dislike him just because and he’s sure that she knows a few people like that too. Nazuna thinks that his way of looking at the world is depressing but she can’t convey her thoughts very well and so he tells her that he doesn’t understand her.
She doesn’t understand him either but she feels like wanting to see how he looks at the world. She also wants to change his views too. She tries to head over to the cafe, but Seri tells her that she’s heading the wrong way and that they should go another way. Nazuna notes that it’s a longer route to the cafeteria though and when she asks him why he’s taking such a roundabout route, he steps closer and grabs her sleeve before telling her that he wants to talk to her more.
Nazuna agrees to follow him and he thanks her with a soft smile which makes her blush since this is the first time she’s seen that cute expression on him. Her embarrassment makes her miss his next words as he sneers under his breath and comments on how easy she is. They end up walking away from the cafeteria and end up at the chapel where Seri stares at in silence. He talks out loud about how he thinks of the chapel as just a building.
Whenever Nazuna thinks of the chapel though she thinks of weddings. This prompts Seri to point out that humans are strange creatures since they come to this place to say vows to one another. But vows are just word promises and they hold no meaning, especially since the couple has no idea how they’ll feel about each other in the future or what will happen. Nazuna thinks differently though.
She tries to explain that she thinks of the vows as vows of love and promises to be together with one another and to love one another. People who are in love can’t think of anyone other than the one they love. Seri asks her if she’s felt that way before but Nazuna stutters and avoids the subject by saying that their parents have. Seri echoes her words and falls into a bad mood. Nazuna takes this chance to ask if she can ask him a question. He tells her to go ahead but he won’t answer if it’s boring.
Nazuna bravely asks why he came to this school, but this just pisses him off and he tells her coldly that he already said he wouldn’t answer boring questions and that was one. Then he tells her that it’s his turn to ask a question and he asks her if she knows what he thought when he skipped grades. She’s wondering why he’s asking her that question, but he continues on without hearing her.
His thought was 「ー当然だ。」(It was inevitable). He still thinks that way even now because he worked hard for it. He works hard enough to shed blood, sweat, and tears. He doesn’t want to lose to anyone and can’t lose to anyone. He then tells her that he’s going to ask questions and she has to answer them. He asks her things like what she would do if no one came to help her when she needed it and then he asks her what he’s thinking right now.
Nazuna thinks that he’s angry because he’s been prickly through the whole day, but he tells her that he’ll teach her something important then and shoves her into the chapel. He’s going to punish her for trying to help him when he was getting bullied because he doesn’t need it nor her pity. He wants her to sit in the dark and scream for help until her voice is gone. Seri also tells her that this is the one place in the school where there is no reception and so she shouldn’t bother trying to phone for help. WHAT? ಠ_ಠ
Then he shuts the door and leaves Nazuna banging on it and screaming for someone to open it for the rest of the night. The silence hurts her ears and she ends up falling asleep in the dark and cold. When morning comes, she hears her brother banging on the door asking her if she’s there. She yells out his name and he manages to break her out. Wabisuke immediately hugs her and she sees Daria off to the side looking her over in concern.
It turns out that everyone in the club has been searching for her the whole day when they noticed her missing and they were worried. Seri appears at this point and asks her what she was doing in the chapel. Nazuna flinches at the sight of him, but when her brother also asks her, she lies and tells them that she was looking for something that she lost and then fell asleep. Seri pokes a hole into her lie by asking her how the door was locked then.
She tells them that a teacher must have locked her in accidently, but then Seri asks her why she didn’t just call out to the teacher. Nazuna has to make a more elaborate lie about how she was still searching for the thing she lost. Then he points out that she wounded her hands, since she was pounding on the door, and Wabisuke immediately offers to take Nazuna to the infirmary.
However, Seri manages to convince Wabisuke to go and inform the other club members to stop searching because they’ve found her. Wabisuke should be the one to go because he’s the fastest. Wabisuke grits his teeth but he obeys Seri’s order after telling Nazuna that he’ll come back to her soon. Daria also leaves but tells Nazuna that she’ll come by. Anyway, as soon as the two of them are gone Seri’s attitude reverts back to a demon child.
He asks her why she lied about him being the one who locked her up and she tells him that it’s was for her brother’s sake. He becomes super angry at this but when she asks him why he’s so angry he growls out that it’s really annoying, but then he forcefully calms himself down and admits that there is no reason for him to be angry. He informs her coldly to take herself to the infirmary since he’s going to leave.
But before he does Nazuna calls out to him and tells him that she isn’t going to run away. He raises an eyebrow and informs her that he has no idea what she’s talking about, but Nazuna just repeats that she won’t run away from him. This makes him ask her if she means that she’s going to lose the bet, but Nazuna shakes her head and said that she’s going to punish him as well. She’s going to do that by finding his true self.
He inhales sharply at this and drops his bluff to smirk at her and ask her if she thinks she can. Nazuna tells him determinedly that she will and she’ll do it no matter what. He coldly wishes her luck before he leaves her to take herself to the infirmary. Their fifth date starts in the clubroom again but Seri tells her that they can go to a place that she wants to go to.
Nazuna chooses to go to an art gallery, but Seri complains a lot about it. As they look around, Seri starts to walk too fast to get away from everyone and when Nazuna asks him to slow down, he grumbles about having to walk at the pace of others. He’s not even ashamed to have his complaints heard by other people. SERIOUSLY GROW UP STUPID BOY ಠ_ಠ. When he asks her why she brought him here, she tells him that she wanted to look at the gallery with him.
She thought he might want to see the things that she liked. He hums thoughtfully and then tells her cheekily that in other words she’s saying that all the places he chose made her unhappy. Nazuna thinks in her head about how she didn’t say that, but Seri continues on and tells her that he has no interest in the things she likes but then he sighs loudly since it can’t be helped.
Anyway, she caves in to his displeasure at walking slowly and so they walk quickly through the gallery. He snaps at her when he finds her walking slowly and even insults her taste by commenting on how only children would like the painting that she came here to see. Nazuna is embarrassed at his words because he’s saying it loud enough for the people around them to hear. She realizes that he must be taking his anger out on her though and so she tells herself to endure it with a smile.
After a while, he tells her that they’ve seen enough and so they should head home. Nazuna frowns at this and points out that there’s still a lot of other exhibits that they didn’t go to see, but Seri tells her that he’s tired from having to walk around aimlessly with her. Since he’s tired he wants to head home. Nazuna repeats her mantra of bearing it over again before she smiles and nods.
He’s surprised by how much she’s listening to him but Nazuna explains that since they’re on a date it would be bad if she tried to make him do things that he didn’t want to do. It can’t be helped if the other party isn’t interested and so she won’t force anyone into anything. She can also come back alone to look at the exhibits that she didn’t get to see. Anyway, she tries to find an exit.
But finally Seri throws a temper tantrum and angrily yells out that he’s had enough. Nazuna asks him in surprise where he’s going because the exit isn’t that way and Seri snaps out that he understands that but he just wants to go. Nazuna asks him if he’s saying that he wants to look around some more but he yells at her to stop it. NO YOU STOP IT YOU STUPID FREAKIN’ LITTLE BRAT （╯ಠ益ಠ）╯︵ ┻━┻. Nazuna doesn’t understand what his problem is.
She’s been trying to listen to his requests all day to prevent him from getting angry at her. So she tells him that she doesn’t know what he wants from her. Seri seems at a loss for words before he finally blushes and confesses that he wants her to be more honest. He hurriedly covers that up by saying that she’s being too submissive right now and so it’s no fun when she doesn’t react to the rude things he does or says.
When they return to the dormitories, Nazuna asks if he had fun and he tells her with a bright grin that he did. She calls him a liar and asks him what he truly thinks. The smile falls off his face and he tells her that it was nothing. Then Reito comes by with a package from his family but Seri refuses to accept it since he doesn’t have a family. Reito seems taken aback and chides Seri by telling him that he can’t just throw it away but Seri just tells him to give it to Nazuna instead before he walks off.
Dessert! He surprised even himself when he locked her in the chapel. She was just so annoying that he thought it would be better if she was shut up for a time. It would also have been fine for her to scream herself hoarse. Seri thinks about how it’s been a long time since he was engulfed by such a strong emotion. But he thinks that it can’t be helped since it’s Nazuna. However, she’s also different from the other girls.
Even when he bullies her she doesn’t try to run away like the other girls. And she also vowed to bring out the real him. He can’t understand her. He tries to remind himself that he was only interested in her because of the bet, but somehow in their time together he became a little caught up in her pace. This is a first for him to be so affected by someone and he’s reminded of how angry he felt when he saw her hugging Wabisuke.
Seri forcefully denies to himself the fact that he could possibly be jealous. He thinks that it isn’t possible that he definitely isn’t feeling anything like jealousy.
*** CHAPTER 6 ***
It’s the day of the assembly and Nazuna is getting a little bit nervous about standing in front of everyone. Because she’s representing the school she also has to dance, but she doesn’t know how and so she’s been taking dance lessons and now her feet hurt. She’s been waiting for the other representative, who is going to manage the assembly with her, to meet her in an empty classroom before they head to the assembly.
Anyway, Aoi shows up and asks her what she’s doing spacing out alone in the classroom. She tells him that she’s waiting for the other kid and so Aoi asks her if she wants to skip the assembly then with him since it’s boring. Then he adds in a sly voice 「そんなことより、オレとワルイコトしようぜ？」(More importantly, how about we do some naughty things?). I’M ALL FOR THAT! BRING YOUR BROTHER (*ﾉ∀ﾉ)ｲﾔﾝ.
He grabs her and her eyes widen before she shrieks at him to release her, but he just tells her that he doesn’t want to. He wants to be connected to her. Atsumori bursts in at this point and tells Aoi to let go of this idiot. Aoi pouts and says 「・・・んだよ。邪魔すんな、敦盛。」(… the hell? Don’t get my way, Atsumori). Atsumori responds 「邪魔してるのはどっちだ？」(Who’s the one in the way?).
Then Atsumori smirks and finish up with 「なずなは俺を待ってたんだからな。」(Because Nazuna was waiting for me). Aoi’s eloquent reply is 「はあ？」(Ha?!) and even Nazuna is taken aback by surprise. She asks if he’s her partner for the assembly then but Atsumori doesn’t know what she’s talking about. He just tells both of them that 「お前が待ってるのは、いつでも俺だって決まってるんだよ。」(The person you’re waiting for has always been me).
He goes on to talk about how a woman is always waiting for a good man to come along. Aoi just tells Atsumori not to say those things and then he insults Atsumori for wearing glasses, but Atsumori just smirks and tells him that people who wear glasses are said to be smart. Aoi and Nazuna finally understand why Atsumori is wearing glasses. He wants to look smart. ﾌﾟｯ(※థэథ)∵.*.∵ I LOVE THESE GUYS.
The two brothers start arguing and Aoi threatens to punch the glasses off of Atsumori, but Atsumori wants to see him try. Suddenly, Seri speaks up and calls the two of them huge idiots before he orders Nazuna to come with him. It turns out that he’s the other representative for the assembly and when they get out into the hallway, he apologizes for being late. He had something important to take care of but when Nazuna asks, he tells her coldly that it has nothing to do with her.
She also asks him why he dislikes the two Kano brothers so much but he tells her that it isn’t an important reason. It’s just that he can’t get along with people like that who have so much money, yet they’re just two idiots. He also dislikes how they’re such an embarrassment to the school. Anyway, the two end up sitting at a table in the courtyard together because the assembly is being held out here.
It’s semi-formal with the tables being all covered in white cloth. Anyway, Nazuna is fidgeting with nervousness and Seri complains about her for a bit before he tells her not to be so nervous and to just smile like always. After he manages to calm her down they get ready to go on the stage, but suddenly her stomach growls loudly. She hasn’t had a chance to eat since she finished her dance lessons.
Seri rolls his eyes but he tells her to wait as he gets her food since it’ll be embarrassing for him if her stomach growls while on stage. She offers to go with him but he just tells her to stay there and then he asks if she has anything that she dislikes. Nazuna shakes her head though and so he stands up to leave only for someone to come up and greet Seri in a mocking tone.
The person introduces himself as Mutou Junya and Nazuna is curious about his relationship to Seri, because Seri is looking at him with a cold expression. Junya turns to greet Nazuna but his smile lacks any feelings. Seri asks Junya why he’s here since he wasn’t invited and Junya instantly latches onto that point and asks Seri slyly if he went so far as to read the guest list to make sure that he wasn’t there.
Nazuna realizes that this must be why Seri was late and then Junya talks about how he went so far as to come out of his way to surprise Seri here. He cruelly asks Seri if he isn’t happy to see his “master” after so long. Seri just grits his teeth and doesn’t respond while Nazuna watches the exchange with wide eyes. Then he turns his attention to Nazuna and asks her for a dance, while remarking on how she probably doesn’t want to be by Seri’s side.
However, Nazuna apologizes sweetly and tells Junya that she promised Seri that she would dance with him. She masterfully snubs Junya and Seri is guided out of there. They dance until night falls and when their song stops, Seri tells her that he doesn’t remember making a promise like that. Nazuna nods and tells him that she said that to get away from Junya and it wasn’t for Seri’s sake. It was just that she dislikes people like Junya.
Seri looks at her suspiciously but she tries to tell him that she would have done that for anyone. Their conversation is interrupted when someone slams into them and it turns out to be Junya who did that on purpose. Nazuna has to excuse herself from the dance floor because her foot started hurting and she runs away from Seri to rest at the fountain. There she wonders about why Junya introduced himself as Seri’s master and what their relationship is.
She also thinks about is how she had to learn how to dance after coming to this school. Human lives are full of unknown and incomprehensible things. Seri comes up to her and asks her what she’s doing just sitting at the fountain and looking up at the sky if her foot hurts. Then he asks if she was bearing the pain throughout the whole dance and when he fights out that she was, he frowns at that.
When Nazuna tries to draw similarities between him wanting to endure being bullied and her enduring the pain, he yells at her that it’s not the same and then he bites his lip before taking out a handkerchief. He shows his softer side when he looks away and blushes while mumbling out that he thinks it would help her if he wet it and wrapped it around her ankle. She comments on how skillful he is at even things like this and Seri asks her if she’s calling him an idiot.
She shakes her head at that and tells him that she thinks he’s really smart. He tells her that he doesn’t want to hear words that have no feeling in them, but Nazuna exasperatedly tells him that she’s not lying and it’s the truth. She really does think he’s skillfull. He blushes at this and then mutters that he still thinks she’s an idiot. Nazuna laughs at herself and says that she might, but she doesn’t think that she’s perfect like Seri.
At this point, Seri surprisingly tells her that he’s not perfect and that he has flaws like other people. She smiles at that and when he half-heartedly snaps at her by asking her why she’s smiling like that, she tells him that she’s happy that she’s finally talking to him. Seri looks away and tells her that he really hates her because she’s annoying and loud and troublesome. Nazuna flinches at this and looks sad, but then Seri’s voice falls lower as he thanks her for helping him back there with Junya.
Her eyes widen at this and when she asks him what he said, he snaps out that he already told her he was thankful. He moodily mutters about how she probably doesn’t believe him, but Nazuna interrupts and tells him that she does. Seri looks surprised at this and then he nervously asks her if she remembers the time at the chapel. He doesn’t understand what she meant by people exhanging vows of love there.
But if such a day were to come when he understood the words then he.. Their moment together is interrupted by Junya who comes and asks Nazuna for a dance. She tries to refuse him politely but he mistakes her refusal for fear of Seri and he smugly tells her that Seri wouldn’t dare touch him. Seri nods painfully at this and so then Junya drags Nazuna away and the handkerchief that was on her leg falls to the ground.
When they get to the dance floor, Junya can’t stop laughing at the pained face that Seri made when they left. Nazuna is taken aback by how cruel this guy is but she uses this chance to ask him what his relationship is to Seri. Junya tells her that he and Seri are very distantly related. Seri’s parents fell in love and ran away together which led to the collapse of their respective households. Then Seri was born and then his parents died.
He talks about how Seri is someone who no one wanted. WHY DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR? Or more like his birth was something that no one knew about. Seri was taken in by Junya’s family but Junya just considers him an intrusion and needless luggage. He reveals that the only reason Seri is studying so hard is because he doesn’t want to be thrown away by Junya’s family. Junya sneers at this and explains that in the end Seri is nothing but a bother.
At this point, Junya sees Seri watching them and gripping the handkerchief tightly so then he talks even more. He remembers that Seri’s parents worked briefly for the Kano house and this is why Seri acts cold toward the brothers. He doesn’t want to lose to them and have his pride stepped on. Finally, Junya realizes that the people in the school must not know this and so he gets the bright idea of spreading it around so that Seri will be ruined.
Nazuna slaps him and he asks in shock if she just did. Nazuna asks him if he’s going to do anything about it and then tells him that as an extremely cruel person he got what he deserved. She curtly says goodbye to him and then quickly tells Seri that they should leave. The two of them end up walking to the soccer field where Seri asks if she heard about his past. She did and then he asks if it was alright for her to slap Junya in front of everyone.
She tells him not to worry and that it felt good, but she does feel sorry for acting selfishly like that. Seri just laughs and tells her that he felt good too in seeing it. This is the first time he’s felt this way and it’s surprisingly not bad. Then he steps closer to her and whispers that she’s a strange person. He corrects himself and tells her that she’s not strange, but she’s actually really strong.
Nazuna disagrees with this though because she did something mean to Junya. Seri doesn’t think so and even if people blame her, he won’t blame her at all. They’re staring into each other’s eyes and Seri’s face is approaching hers and he tells her that if she’s going to get blamed then he’s going to take it with her too. He thanks her gratefully but then Nazuna backs away from their kiss because her heart is pounding.
She apologizes quickly to him but changes the subject and tells him that she’s going to return to the dormitories first. When she finally enters her room she changes into her pajamas and then collapses onto the bed where the cool sheets feel good against her heated face. She can’t believe she’s falling in love with Seri because she can’t lose the bet for her brother’s sake.
The next day, she barely got any sleep and so she’s spacing out and stumbling through the hallway. Suou sees her and calls for her to wait in a strict voice. Then he gives her pointers for slapping a person properly like putting her weight behind it and a whole bunch of others things. He’s also saying this in a serious voice.
When Nazuna takes too long to respond because she’s thinking about how the teachers are probably mad and so she needs to prepare herself, Suou asks her for her answer in a low voice. She blurts out that she’ll try harder next time before she realizes how weird that sounds. Suou just smirks and tells her to be aware of that next time and 「今後うまくできなかったら・・・君をお仕置きする。」(From now on if you don’t do it well.. I will punish you). (〃ﾟ艸ﾟ):;*
She flinches and her eyes grow wide in surprise at his words, which makes him chuckle out loud and tell her that her reaction is good. It just barely passed. Then he leaves her after excusing himself and Nazuna is amazed to notice a group of fangirls scurrying after him.
Seri appears and comments on how Suou is the same as always and then he greets Nazuna with a smile. She reminds herself to be normal and greets him in a stuttering voice. He asks her if she’s free after school today and she blinks in surprise, which makes him tell her not to be so surprised since they always meet after school. Nazuna admits this in her head but this is the first time that he’s invited her like this.
It’s also the first time she heard him laugh genuinely and her heart can’t stop fluttering, especially when he tells her that he’s looking forward to it after she agrees to meet him. So they meet in the clubroom after school but Nazuna is silent and not paying attention because she’s thinking about him. This makes Seri ask her what she’s thinking about but when she tries to refuse him on the grounds of it being embarrassing, he demands for her to tell him.
And promptly blushes when he realizes that she was thinking about him. Nazuna tells him that she already said it was embarrassing and Seri apologizes quietly. To break the awkward silence they head out but it continues to follow them. They walk by the soccer field and Nazuna comments on the nice weather, to which Seri tries to add that he heard it was going to be nice like this for a while. Then they walk through the woods and he asks her if she’s cold, but she isn’t. The awkwardness continues.
They end up at the chapel and Nazuna notes that all this time they’ve been walking really fast as if Seri can’t calm himself down. She asks him where they’re heading and it turns out that Seri doesn’t even know. All this time he’s been trying to think of a place to take her and something to do, but he can’t think of anything. Even his logic is failing him here and he doesn’t know why.
Nazuna feels happy that he’s thinking about her like that and then she suggests that they walk around the school without a purpose. They’ll go wherever they feel like going. They go to the lake near the school and they look at some ducks. Nazuna reveals that this is the first time she’s seen that kind of duck before and Seri confesses that it’s his too. He’s read about it in books, but this is the first time he’s seen it in person.
They’re both used to reading about things in books and so it feels nice to be able to see it in reality. Seri laughs at the ducks and comments on how they’re floating around with no purpose and how they seem to be searching for some place to go. Nazuna draws a comparison from the ducks to what they’re doing right now and Seri notes that she’s a romanticist. He thinks that being an idiot and romanticist fits her.
She pouts at that but realizes that he’s saying it without his usual viciousness. They return back to the school courtyard and Nazuna points out the Christmas tree. Seri is unimpressed though and he comments on how the tree is just wood, but then he confesses that he’s jealous of it. Jealous of the people who can spend Christmas with their parents. He’s always wanted to eat cake and sleep with a bloated stomach and then wake up the next morning to tear open presents.
But he gave up on the dream when he realized that he didn’t have the right to it. He laughs bitterly and asks her if she thinks that his dreams for Christmas don’t suit him, but Nazuna shakes her head. He asks if she means that and she tells him she does, and so he tells her that he’ll believe in her. Then he explains that his parents believed in love and threw away everything for it and then he was born.
That’s why he thought of love as a worthless and idiotic thing. He was invited to the school to study and because he has nothing in life to live for, he just treated everything he did as a way to pass time until he died. But now he thinks that it wouldn’t be so bad to live. He laughs at himself and muses out loud about how nothing in his life has changed, yet it feels like the way that he views the world has changed. He asks her if he’s being weird right now.
Nazuna hugs him tightly and he asks her what she’s doing before telling her brokenly that she’ll lose the bet like this. Nazuna doesn’t care though and tells him that this might make him mad but she thinks his life is sad and she wants to do something for him, even if all she can do is this. He returns her embrace and she asks him if he’s crying. He laughs quietly and tells her that crying won’t change anything, but he’s remembering things from his past.
He wants to stay like this for a while longer. After some time passes, they release each other and Nazuna instantly feels cold. But her heart is still warm and they face each other quietly before Seri breaks the silence by whispering that he might have lost the bet too. When she looks at him in confusion he shakes his head and tells her that he was just muttering to himself.
He suggests that they head back to the dormitories and escorts her there. In truth, Nazuna heard what he said and she still thinks that she’s the one who lost the bet. She wants to spend Christmas with Seri and she wants to grant him his wishes.
*** FORBIDDEN ROUTE ***
Dessert! Up to now, he’s been living his life only for himself. Seri thinks that everyone does that, but after meeting Nazuna he’s becoming filled with all these feelings. He was shocked when she slapped Junya for his sake. She was doing it only for him and so now he feels that his feelings might resemble Nazuna’s.
Nazuna is shopping in town for a Christmas present for Seri. She feels bad about her brother because she’s lost the bet but she doesn’t want to lie to herself anymore about her feelings. She hasn’t told anyone else yet because she wants to tell Seri first. Then she decides to go clean Seri’s handkerchief but someone from behind her knocks her out.
Back at the school, Reito tells Seri that Nazuna disappeared all of a sudden and her phone isn’t being picked up. Wabisuke has been calling all day. They did find something dropped on the ground in front of the school though and Seri’s eyes widen when he sees that it’s the handkerchief he gave her. He runs out leaving Reito to call after him.
When Nazuna wakes up she finds herself in some dungeons and chained up. Then Junya appears and comments lightly on how she’s finally woken up and that she had slept for so long that he thought she might have died. There are some bodyguards behind him and he tells Seri to wake up before explaining that the party and Seri’s punishment is going to start. Some anger leaks into Junya’s voice as he asks if Seri really likes Nazuna that much.
He reminds Seri that love is just a worthless thing to which Seri still agrees with, but Seri explains that he doesn’t know what he’s feeling himself. All he knows is that he can’t leave Nazuna alone. Junya throws a fit at this and reveals that he’s pissed at Seri because he’s finally showing interest in something when all this time he hasn’t looked at anything. When Seri first came to this house, Junya thought they could be brothers despite the fact that they shared no blood.
However, Seri just treated everything with disdain and disinterest including Junya. That’s why Junya is going to take everything away from Seri. Junya cruelly asks if it’s painful and Seri tells him that it’s very painful. This sends Junya into a fit of glee and then he tells Seri to say that he can’t leave without Junya’s compassion. Seri grits his teeth but obeys and tells Junya that Junya’s affection is necessary to him. WOW WHAT A GIGANTIC ASSHOLE.
Seri has to say a few more things like it’s impossible for him to live without Junya’s attention and that he’s worthless, etc. Finally, Seri yells tearfully that he’ll say and do anything so long as Junya doesn’t involve Nazuna. However, Junya just sneers and tells Seri that he wants to see more of that desperation and despair on his face. He starts hitting Seri and Nazuna screams at him to stop so then Junya asks if she wants to substitute herself in Seri’s place.
He gets the bright idea of breaking something that Seri considers precious before returning her and so he brings out a knife and starts touching Nazuna lightly with it. Seri screams at him to stop and then he tackles Junya to the ground before snatching up the knife. Seri’s voice is dangerously low as he tells Junya flatly that if Junya and his guards touch Nazuna with their filthy hands then he’ll kill them all.
Junya laughs at Seri because he thinks that it’s just a bluff and reminds Seri that if he dares to attack Junya then he’ll be kicked out of the house. He won’t have a place to return to and he’ll just become a homeless child. Seri is quiet for a second before he tells Junya that he understands. In order to protect his precious person that he has finally found, he’ll do anything and become anything.
Once again, Junya thinks that he’s just bluffing and he scoffs at Seri’s words before he starts molesting Nazuna. However, Seri repeats lowly that he’ll become anything and then he stabs Junya. The other men that were with him run away at the sight of that and then Seri unshackles Nazuna before embracing her with bloody hands.
*** FORBIDDEN HARD ***
Seri tells her to leave because he’ll take the punishment. Nazuna refuses though and when he asks her if she isn’t afraid of him, she tells him that she’s not. She’s not afraid of him because he’s still Seri and he killed someone to defend her. Seri coldly tells her that he didn’t do it for her and he did it only because Junya was pissing him off. He yells out that he hates Nazuna and he wants her to disappear.
He doesn’t want to see her a second time either. Obviously, he’s trying to say these things to make her leave but Nazuna refuses and confesses that she loves Seri. She wonders if God and her brother will forgive her for this but then thinks about how it doesn’t matter if they’ll forgive her or not. Her feelings won’t change. The two of them run away to be criminals together and they live off of Seri’s money but one day Nazuna’s stomach growls and Seri reminisces about the time they were at the dance party.
In the end, he never managed to get her food to eat at the party and so he’ll go get something for her now. She’s surprised that he remembers that still and so Seri tells her that he remembers every time they were together. Nazuna is afraid that it’s dangerous but Seri reassures her and then she tells him to be careful with the amount of money they have left. However, it is finally revealed that Seri didn’t bring any money with him at all.
He’s been getting her things by stealing them or other various illegal ways and Nazuna tells him not to lie again because she doesn’t want to see him in pain. Seri embraces her and silently cries against her for the first time. Then they siletly clasp hands and sit on a bench. After a while, Seri gets up and starts to walk away. When she asks him where he’s going he tells her that Wabisuke is coming to meet her and take her back. He managed to get in contact with Wabisuke when she wasn’t looking.
She refuses though because she wants to be with Seri. He tells her to try and understand him because he wants her to sleep in a warm bed, have good food, and forget about him to live happily. He’s sure that a person like her will find many others who will love her. If the thing that he is feeling is love then he thinks that he can forgive his parents. However, he does wish that he could have spent the rest of his life with Nazuna.
Seri laughs tearfully and calls himself an idiot since that wish won’t be granted. Nazuna smiles though and tells him that she’ll grant that wish because she wants to be by his side. She asks if he thinks of her as an idiot too now and hates her. Seri tearfully shakes his head and tells her that it isn’t possible for him to hate her. Nazuna asks again if she can be by his side and he nods before thanking her quietly. Then she asks him if they can rest for a bit and if she can sleep.
Seri quietly tells her to go ahead and then she makes him promise that he’ll still be by her side when she wakes up. While she’s dozing off she asks him sleepily if God is watching over them and if he’s angry at them. Seri tells her not to be scared if God is angry because he’ll protect her. She falls asleep and Seri confesses that he has one more thing he wants to tell her. He really loves her. From here on, he’ll love her forever and ever.
*** FORBIDDEN NORMAL ***
Nazuna is shocked into silence at what Seri did and then she freaks out asking him what they’re going to do and why he’s so calm. He doesn’t know why he is either, but what he does know is that she needs to run away before people find them or else she’ll be labelled as a criminal as well. Because he feels that this might be the last time they’ll be able to talk like this, he asks her to smile for him one last time. Nazuna tells him that she can’t though.
He just smiles at her bitterly and then reveals that when he had locked her up in the chapel, he came back to check up on her. He saw that she feel asleep with tears on her face and he was pained at the fact that he could do nothing. Seri wonders if things would have been different if he had been kinder to her and then he laughs at how weird fate is. He also reveals that before she came to this school he had been investigating her.
Seri received an email from a person saying that someone more superior than him is coming. That’s when he started researching her and the Kano brothers found out about it and that’s how she got dragged into their whole mess. He warns her to be careful of this mysterious person in the shadows. He apologizes for concealing this from her and admits that in the end he’s the one who lost. This is the first time that he doesn’t mind losing.
Then his voice falls quiet as he tries to confess but they’re interrupted by Kakeru who bursts in. The two students are quiet and shocked to find a teacher here and then Kakeru screams frantically at the sight of a dead body and asks about it, only to stop abruptly with a scary grin. He informs them that he knows everything including the fact that Seri killed someone. Then he asks teasingly what Seri will do next. Will he kill more? Eat the corpse?
Seri tells Kakeru that he’s going to turn himself into the police and he’s prepared himself for that. Kakeru compliments him on his action but tells them to return to the dormitories because he’ll take care of everything. It won’t be fun if he loses two of his players. Nazuna and Seri run out of there and as they make their way through the town, Seri wonders out loud what Kakeru is. They don’t even know if they can trust him and if police aren’t waiting for them at the dormitories.
Nazuna is prepared to take whatever punishment that awaits them together though, because she doesn’t want to be separated from Seri. Seri feels the same way but they manage to get into the dormitories without a problem and Nazuna immediately changes her clothes so that no one thinks she left. Seri quietly talks about how he did something unforgivable but even so he wants to remain like this with her.
She doesn’t mind either because she just wants to remain by Seri’s side forever. She asks God to forgive her and the television behind them explains that Mutou Junya died to suicide. It must be Kakeru’s work but she doesn’t care anymore about anything so long as she can be together like this with Seri. THIS IS ALMOST AS CREEPY AS DARIA’S ROUTE EXCEPT HERS WAS CREEPIER BECAUSE SHE SHOWS NO REMORSE. AT LEAST SERI WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CONFESS TO THE POLICE.
*** PURE LOVE ROUTE ***
Dessert! No one can run away from the circumstances of their birth and so in order to hide his shameful past Seri studied intensely. He thought he managed to get away from his past when he was chosen as a representative of the school and that’s why he tried to make sure that no one who knew his past would be there.
But then Junya appeared and he thought everything was over until Nazuna slapped Junya. It’s the first time anyone has ever defended him like that and even though everyone was watching her, she didn’t care. He’s been living his life distantly from others because he doesn’t want to get involved with them but now he thinks that..
The chapter starts with Nazuna in a bookstore looking to find something to give Seri. She wants to get him something that he hasn’t read before, but she isn’t too sure about what he has or has not read. In her monologue, she talks about how she lost the bet and has fallen in love with Seri. No one knows yet but she thinks that she’s going to confess to him when she gives him his present. Thinking about her brother hurts, but she can’t hide her feelings anymore.
During lunch she invites Seri to the rooftop but he’s late. She starts to wonder if he’s not going to come but she reassures himself that he’s not like that. Finally, he comes running up and apologizes for making her wait. When she asks if he was busy, he tells her that he finished everything he needed to do so that he could meet her but he was dragged into an argument with the Kano brothers. He insults them and complains about them to her, but she can see that he looks like he’s having fun.
She’s glad that he’s fixed his relationship with them but when he asks her why she called him, she can’t bring herself to say it since it’s embarrassing and so she asks if he can tutor her instead. Then he points out that she still has something to say and she’s hiding something from him. Nazuna accuses him of hiding things from her too and he admits it without hesistance, but then he informs her that if she asks him he’ll tell her anything because she’s special.
All he asks of her is that she doesn’t talk about his secrets to other people. Then he smiles teasingly at her and lets her know that he’s thinking about kissing her right now. Nazuna blushes brightly and then he asks her again to tell him what she’s hiding. If she called him up here to tell him something worthless then he’s going to kiss her as punishment. At this, Nazuna blurts out a request to spend Christmas together.
Seri gasps in surprise and falls silent for a long time. He opens and closes his mouth a few times to try and say something but nothing comes out and so Nazuna apologizes for saying something troubling. She laughs unconvincingly and tells him that they should head back to their classroom now and that it’s okay if he can’t spend it with her. He interrupts her quickly though and tells her to what he has to say instead of jumping to conclusions.
He’ll spend Christmas with her since he’s free anyway and it’s not that he doesn’t want to spend it with her. Seri starts blushing as he tells her that they should eat dinner while they’re out too, because the menu in the restaurant changes for Christmas. Since he doesn’t know what they have for dinner he’ll research it. He also wants to walk down the streets while holding hands and he doesn’t want her to say “Merry Christmas” to anyone else other than him.
Then he stutters out that this is the first time he’s going to spend Christmas with someone and so she should consider it an honor. Nazuna agrees to all this happily because she’s excited at getting to spend Christmas together with Seri. After her classes, Nazuna bumps into Kakeru in the hallway and he notices how happy she looks. He asks her to share the reason why she’s so happy and then asks if it’s because she found out Seri’s weakness.
Nazuna apologizes and confesses that she can’t search for Seri’s weakness anymore. Kakeru smirks slyly and asks if she’s fallen in love with Seri and holds her boyfriend closer to her heart than her own brother. Nazuna stutters out the word boyfriend and Kakeru tilts his head curiously and asks if they haven’t gone that far yet. She asks him not to tease her before apologizing again for not being able to do what he wanted, but he waves it off and tells her not to worry because he had anticpated that.
Anyway, the days pass slowly and Nazuna watches the other people in her class grow closer. She thinks about something she read on how women shine brighter when they’re in love. Most of her time is spent studying with Seri helping her and then Christmas finally comes though she gets a sleepless night because she’s too excited. She runs toward their meeting place which is the tree in the courtyard because she’s a bit late after taking the time to wrap his present.
*** PURE LOVE HARD ***
She finds Seri waiting for her and apologizes for making him wait. He brushes her apology aside though and tells her that he came early and he wouldn’t mind waiting for her anyway. Then he blushes and wishes her a merry Christmas and she replies the same which makes him happy but embarrassed. He also gives her a present and it’s a teddy bear that is one of a kind. He asks her if he’s weird for saying these things and getting her these, but she shakes her head and tells him that she’s happy.
Then she gives him her present which is a book and he tells her that he loves it too. This is the first time he’s given a person a present, wished them merry Christmas, and received a present. He feels a little troubled that he can’t express his feelings at a time like this when he’s so happy and he wonders if he should have studied more but Nazuna just giggles and tells him that she understands his feelings. Suddenly, the Christmas tree in the courtyard catches on fire.
Nazuna apologizes because she wanted to give him the best Christmas ever yet the tree caught on fire. Seri just laughs gently at her and tells her not to apologize because he thinks it’s a good thing. Since everyone is looking at the tree this allows him to kiss her. The scene skips to Kakeru in the school who points out that Seri and Nazuna are kissing. Kazuya just rolls his eyes and mutters about how Kakeru’s actions are in bad taste.
Apparently Kakeru was the one who lit the tree on fire to create the perfect situation for the two. Anyway, the two of them left the school after they kissed to go to the restaurant that Seri promised to bring her too. In her mind, Nazuna thinks about how the time she spent with Seri was like a dream because this is the first time she’s ever been so happy.
After Christmas Seri left the date club and convinced the Kano brothers to release her brother. The next scene is Nazuna and Seri arguing in the clubroom with Seri yelling at how many times he has to say something before she understands it. She yells back that no matter what he says she won’t understand and then she calls him an idiot three times.
Seri gasps in surprise and tells her that he won’t forgive her for calling him an idiot three times. Aoi hesitantly raises his voice and apologizes for interrupting their fight, but he reminds them that they’re in the middle of the club activities. However, he gets yelled at by both Seri and Nazuna to butt out of their important conversation. Seri tells Nazuna that he’ll only say it one more time but he loves her more.
Nazuna firmly replies that she’s the one who loves him more. Seri snaps back by asking her if she wants him to push her down onto the ground right now. Atsumori sighs and mutters about how he can’t tell if they’re having a fight or if they’re flirting with one another. Aoi can’t believe that Seri is this kind of person. Daria thinks that it’s a cute couple’s fight and that it’s very much like Seri. Wabisuke is unhappy at giving his sister away.
Aoi snickers at Wabisuke’s expression and exclaims that the dragon finally came out. Atsumori looks at him in confusion and asks if he’s talking about the siscon. Aoi waves his hand and tells him that siscon and dragon are the same thing. In the end, Nazuna lost the fight of who loved who more but although she finds it a bit weird for Seri to get into a fight about things like this she’s also really happy.
They go outside and Nazuna points out the beauty of the blooming sakura trees. Seri blushes and agrees that he also thinks it’s beautiful but that’s because this is the first time he’s seen them with Nazuna. He asks if he can kiss her and she lets him with a blush. He confesses that for some reason she looks unbearably beautiful at this moment. He thinks the same things for a lot of things though.
Like when he opens the curtains and sees her. When he hears her voice answering a question in class. He wants to continue to see these things with her. Also, he can finally understand the circumstances of his birth and what his parents felt. That’s why he’s also going to make a vow of love to her right now. From now on and forever, he will continue to love her for eternity.
*** PURE LOVE NORMAL ***
Nazuna gets to the Christmas tree but Seri isn’t there yet. She soon gets a text message telling her that he caught a cold but he’ll be there soon. She decides to go check up on him in his room instead and goes to the boy’s dormitory and sneaks in because she’s not allowed. Just when she thinks no one saw her too, Reito asks her what she’s doing. She can’t seem to tell him that she’s looking for Seri and so he tells her that if she’s just looking around then she’ll have to leave.
But then he smiles and tells her where Seri’s room is which earns him a shocked look from her. Then she thanks him gratefully and he just laughs and tells her that she should consider it a Christmas present. She knocks on the door and enters Seri’s room for the first time. He apologizes for catching a cold but tells her that he’s fine because he drank medicine. Then he asks if they want to go out now since it’s Christmas.
However, Nazuna doesn’t mind staying in his room to let him rest because as long as she’s by his side then she’s fine. He blushes at this and then nods before wishing her a merry Christmas. He confesses that this is the first time that he’s said it to someone and he likes the feeling of being able to say it to someone important and so he asks her if he can say it again before he says it again. They exchange presents and he gives her a hand-made snow dome.
She gives him a picture book and he tells her that he’ll treasure it forever since it’s the first Christmas present that he’s ever received since he was born. She’ll treasure his hand-made snow dome too even if he’s embarrassed because he doesn’t think it’s well-made. They can see the Christmas tree from his window and even though at first he thought it was a useless thing, he feels grateful for it.
Seri starts coughing and so Nazuna orders him to rest before she goes into his kitchen to make some porridge for him. Then she comes back and feeds it to him, though at first he’s embarrassed about it. He compliments the food and tells her that it’s the most delicious thing he’s tasted. She tells him that he’s over complimenting her, but he just reminds her that he’s not the type of person to lie to make someone feel better.
Then he tells her that it’s now his turn and asks her to lean closer. When she does he pulls her down beside her and tells her that it’s cold and so he wants to remain like this. Plus, she should listen to the requests of a sick person. But he doesn’t want her to get sick either and so they’ll only remain like this for a little bit. Nazuna doesn’t mind staying like this until he falls asleep though.
But when Seri hears this he tells her that he won’t fall asleep then so that they can remain like this forever. D’AWW THAT’S KIND OF CUTE (*´ω`*). She smiles and agrees that they can remain like this forever and then he asks her to talk about anything because he wants to hear her voice. She warns him that she might say some boring things, but he just shakes his head and confesses that he’s interested in her as a girl.
When she asks him what he wants to hear, he tells her to recall everything starting from her earliest memory. He wants to know everything about her and they have a lot of time. After Christmas Seri quits the date club and releases her brother with the help of Daria. Aoi and Atsumori become depressed but they’ll get over it.
The next scene is Seri and Nazuna walking in the rose gardens but they overhear some customers of the date club wondering where Seri has been lately. They want to schedule dates with him but he quit the date club. One of them wonders if he got a girlfriend but another girl doesn’t think that’s possible. Nazuna starts to feel sad because she doesn’t know what her relationship is to Seri.
Seri asks her what she’s thinking of since she’s spacing out and then chides her by reminding her that he won’t allow her to think about anything other than him when he’s here. She tells him that it’s nothing but he reminds her again that he can tell when she’s lying. When she asks him what their relationship is, he bursts out laughing since she’s asking after everything they’ve been through.
He kisses her then and tells her that he’s whatever she wants him to be. For her sake, he’ll become whatever she wants. Because he loves her more than anyone else in this world and forever. AND THIS IS THE FINALE. I AM GOING TO MAKE HISTORY TODAY. TODAY WILL BE “ILINOX HAS FINISHED GEKKA” DAY.
