First Impressions. I love him, I love him, I love him (〃゚艸゚):;*! He’s a professional at what he does and he doesn’t let his emotions influence him unduly. He’s extremely swift and skilled with his bow and knife, but he’s not overconfident nor does he brag. At a glance, it’s obvious that he’s not human. His back story also reveals how gentle and protective he can be.

The scene starts with Nate in a dark forest calling for someone. There’s no smell for him to track and so he has to push aside the branches and continue calling out for it. Nate sighs and tries to think about the next place that the person or thing would go to and then some bushes rustle. He looks at it curiously and wonders if it’s the person that he’s searching for, but it’s just a large snake.

*** EPISODE 0 ***

He scoffs and easily kills it with his knife while muttering about how he doesn’t have time for this. The thing he’s searching for isn’t a snake and is much smaller than it. Nate mentions out loud about how if he doesn’t find it soon then really bad things will start to happen. He starts calling out for it again and asking it to reply if it hears him. But there’s no response. He wonders if it could have been eaten.

There’s some rustling again and Nate frowns and wonders if it’s another monster. It turns out to be a wolf pup that barks cheerfully and Nate sighs in relief before chiding the puppy and telling him that he’s been searching for him. Nate quickly lifts it up and the puppy starts licking his cheek happily and howls. Nate tries to get it to stop because it tickles and then asks what it was trying to do in the forest but the puppy just barks.

Since the pup is all dirty, Nate brings it to a small lake just outside the forest and tries to wash it but it keeps splashing around. He tells it to calm down and be quiet because it’s still dirty and he’ll only let it go when it’s clean. This makes the puppy whine but it obeys his request. OGKAHOH MY GOD I AM DYING OF CUTE OVERLOAD (〃゚艸゚):;*. YEP, THIS GUY IS MY FAVOURITE ALREADY.

He washes it gently and soon its gray fur starts showing through and then he finally places it on the ground and with a smirk tells it that it should be fine now and it has become pretty. The wolf pup barks and then shakes the rest of the water off which makes Nate flinch at how cold it is and then he growls out 「お前・・・」(You..) but when the pup whines at him, he just sighs and says 「はぁ・・・しょうがねェか・・・」(Haa.. it can’t be helped..).

In his mind he thinks that as long as it’s happy like this then that’s enough for him. Suddenly a gunshot rings out and his smile disappears. The sound wasn’t very far from their lake and so Nate pushes the pup behind him. When it whines, he tells it 「大丈夫だ、安心しろ・・・もしここに来ても、俺が守ってやる」(It’ll be alright, so calm down.. if they do come here, I’ll protect you). He has confidence in defeating the enemies and protecting the pup, but he doesn’t like this situation.

Another gunshot is heard and it’s closer. Nate decides that he should confront them before they reach the lake, but the pup can’t stop whining. He tries to reassure it and tell it to stay here since he’ll just be gone for a bit. The pup howls at him and Nate tells it sternly that it can’t follow him. He’ll be back really soon and so the pup needs to stay quiet and wait. It definitely can’t come with him.

Nate darts off into the forest and wonders who it is that is intruding because he won’t forgive him. This forest, Wolf’s Chanze 「ヴォルフシャンツェ」(Vorufushantsu) is his to protect. He sees a human that is alone and shooting things without a care. Nate snarls under his breath at how this isn’t a place for humans and then he draws his bow back to shoot the man. The human is instantly killed and Nate checks on his body to make sure before heading back to the wolf pup.

Time skip and it’s now night and the two of them are feasting on some fish. Nate tells the pup to eat some more or else it won’t grow big. There’s a lot of fish and so the pup can eat to its heart’s content. A whistling sound is heard and suddenly a note wrapped around a knife flies into the clearing and Nate has to dive for the wolf pup to cover it and carry it away. He tsks under his breath at how the person always delivers it like this and it should be done at a time when he’s not with the wolf pup.

He unravels the paper though to see what kind of job is being delivered to him and when he reads its contents, a smirk appears. The wolf pup whines at him but Nate has to tell it to stay here. It looks like he’ll be gone for a while on a job, but he’ll be back soon. A few days later and he’s now in Dinus. Normally, he can do these jobs by himself but this time he has a partner. Nate is annoyed as he tries to find his partner in the large crowd.

And as he looks around his eyes suddenly meets the eyes of the heroine. It wasn’t just the heroine though, there were 3 other guys around her and some small thing sitting on her shoulder. Nate notices that her face is very similar to the one in his job description and he smirks at the thought of being lucky enough to run into her the moment he reached the town. He quickly takes his chance and draws his bow.

But just as he sees his opportunity to let his arrow fly, his eyes meet with Kirite’s and he nearly drops his bow as he gasps in surprise. Nayuta asks Kirite if there’s something wrong, but Kirite just crosses his arms and shakes his head slowly before saying that he just felt as if someone was looking at him. Soo joins in and asks if it wasn’t just a glance at their unusual party, but Kirite seems unconvinced.

Finally, he just shrugs it off and moves to catch up to Lilith. Nayuta slowly tells Kirite that even though he’s saying it’s nothing, his face is really severe looking. Kirite just shakes his head again and tells them that it really is nothing. They walk off and Nate exhales loudly before he smirks and comments on how it’s interesting that one of them felt his presence. Anyway, since he’s not sure about if he can take this job on alone he decides to find his partner first.

The partner ends up being some creepy dude who is trying to sell stuff to people and when Nate claps him on the shoulder to get his attention, the guy tries to sell stuff to Nate. This just makes Nate scoff and tell him not to sell him that crap before informing him that the target is here and they should hurry on to their job. He also asks why the man always adopts these disgusting personalities and tries to sell his stuff.

His partner just responds that he loves money and so he’ll do anything for it. In fact, that’s why he’s doing this job because apparently the bounty is enormous. Nate grimaces at the man’s obsession with money but he reminds himself that it’s for the job and so he can’t complain. Anyway, because his partner has been here longer than he has, the partner leads the way and they track the group down. The two of them hide behind a corner and they carefully keep track of the carefree group.

Kirite is rebuking Lilith for being too trustworthy and Nayuta agrees a well. Even Camus wonders if she isn’t too kind-hearted. Soo tells them that they’re too harsh though and one has to treat women kinder, but Nayuta feels that if they’re a bit nicer then the meaning will be lost. Nate’s partner is gnashing his teeth in impatience and at how carefree the group is. He just wants to strike them down right here and asks Nate if they can go right now.

Nate is wary but he decides that they shouldn’t waste an opportunity and so he draws his bow again. But as they’re just about to engage, Lilith looks over and so Nate has to lower his bow again and he and his partner hiss under their breath at the close call. They’ll need to wait for another opportunity.

Camus asks where they’re going to sleep for the night and Nayuta is curious too. Soo thinks they should go back to the elderly woman’s place and Kirite asks if he means for them to head to Madam’s place. Nate repeats the name and then the group agrees to return to that place. He and his partner tracks the group some more and then his partner notes that the group of men seem to treasure Lilith a lot and are protective of her. She’s also wearing the robes of a priestess.

His partner is trembling at the thought of all the money they’ll get for selling her staff. Nate just calmly tells him to look forward to it only when they finish the job and that whatever he does then is his own business, so long as it doesn’t involve him. Nate’s partner nods in exasperation and tells Nate that he won’t trouble him. Nate asks him if he knows who the group was talking about when they mentioned Madam, and it turns out that she’s the boss of the gangs in Dinus.

Anyway, they’re going to give it up for today, since they know where to find the group and they can’t engage them when the group is sleeping in a secure place like that. And so Nate takes to the streets after he splits up from this partner and thinks about how it’s been a while since he came to Dinus. The streets and people haven’t changed though and then he thinks about the wolf pup back in the forest and how he needs to return soon.

As he’s walking, he catches sight of a ninja in black and he pauses suspiciously. The ninja has the same smell as him and because he’s curious he follows after it. But he loses the trail in an alleyway and decides to give it up. He knows that he wasn’t mistaken in seeing it and it wasn’t his imagination, but he has his own job to worry about.

Next day, Nate is growling angrily at his partner and his partner is cowering while apologizing profusely. It turns out that because his partner was so impatient, he decided to do some more reconaissance without Nate and followed after the group and Lilith. Thankfully, no one seemed to have seen him but it was a close call. He laughs in relief at that and Nate snaps at him about how it isn’t a laughing matter.

He sighs in his head and thinks about how his partner has no intelligence at all. At this rate, it feels like his partner will make the job a failure and so Nate decides to complete it alone. He tells his partner to rest easy since he’ll do the rest and his partner complains at this and tries to protest, but he shuts up when Nate tells him that he’ll make sure to give him the staff. Nate nods because he has no interest in that kind of thing.

Nate splits from his partner and tries to track down the group, but he ends up being distracted by the sight of the masked ninja man. He chases after the person into the alleyway and notes out loud about how he wasn’t mistaken. Then he asks the person what he is and the masked man just laughs creepily before telling Nate that he can be called an ally. He’s the one who tossed the knife with the job offer. Nate just narrows his eyes and asks if that is so.

The masked man giggles again and comments on how cold Nate is, especially when they’re both the same. Nate asks him roughly what he means by that and the masked man answers that they both enjoy tearing the entrails out of people. Nate crosses his arms and coldly tells him that he doesn’t recall having such a distasteful hobby. The masked man calmly tells him that even if he doesn’t remember, that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t done the same things.

Nate snarls out that he’s wrong. When the masked man asks if he’s angry Nate tells him in a frigid voice 「もういい、黙れ」(That’s enough, shut up) and then he tries to walk away. The man grabs his arm though which makes Nate stare down his nose at him and he orders him to release him. The masked man tells him to wait a little and then informs Nate that he did say they were allies, but the truth is that they are more like rivals.

When Nate looks at him on confusion, the masked man reveals that they’re after the same target and so unfortunately Nate needs to be killed. The man whips out a dagger and attacks Nate with it, but he dodges it and disappears in front of the man’s eyes. The man gasps in shock and looks around only for Nate to comment from behind him that he’s too slow and that he’s over here. The masked man whips around and asks in a stutter when Nate managed to get over there.

Nate just smirks and then darts closer to the guy before commenting on how it’s his turn next. The masked man snarls out that he doesn’t have time to deal with Nate and so he’ll kill him instantly, but Nate coolly tells the guy to look at his back. When he does, he chokes on the blood that is now filling his mouth because his back is riddled with arrows. He drops the knife in his hands and gasps out that it’s impossible and that he didn’t see Nate at all.

The masked man collapses and dies and Nate scoffs before commenting on how he could never match up to his speed. And then he tells the dead body that the only thing they are similar in is their hate for sharing the spoils with other people. He rips the arrows out of the man’s body and replaces them in his quiver.

Time skip and he’s been waiting in his forest for the group to come through. He’s laying in wait and has his bow all drawn and ready because he can smell them approaching and hear them walking through the forest. Camus slows down and informs the others that he feels like something is there. Nayuta looks at Kirite because Kirite suddenly stops and looks in Nate’s direction while saying out loud that he feels something.

However, Nate mutters under his breath that it doesn’t matter if he’s been noticed because it’s already too late. He fires off 3 arrows rapidly. HOW DARE YOU GIVE ME ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER. ON ANOTHER NOTE, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE NATE AND HOW HE MEETS THE HEROINE. BOUNTY HUNTER?! HELL YES (*´д`*)ハァハァハ.

To be honest, Nate is the only one who attracts my attention right from the start. So glad to hear you like him. ❤ After reading your reviews, it seems like most of the stories here end in a cliffhanger? Maybe I’d marathon it with the game to make things more exciting. xD

..but omg it’d be painful to translate all of those fictional foreign names orz

Short pants dude caught my attention, but that’s only because my first thought was “What the HELL are you wearing!?” lmao. I was a bit afraid Nate would be some kind of weird animalistic playboy, but he’s so adorable! If you hate cliffhangers, you’re probably better off marathoning it with the game xD;; and these are really short too so it won’t take long.

ヽ(;▽;)ノ I need some official translations! What the hell is 「ヴォルフシャンツェ」 supposed to be?! I should just call it “Nate’s forest”.

I think it’s “Wolfsschanze” which means “Wolf’s Lair” in German. Though “Nate’s Forest” sounds cuter. xD Hopefully there will be more puppies in the main game.. ヽ(*´ω`*)ノンフフ♪

        LOL and Nico.. my TL exploded with comment like “the heck is wrong with his outfit?” “won’t he get cold?” “will THAT protect him in battle?” when the full body scans first appeared. xD;;

Kyaa I love him too, at first when I saw him on the official site, I don’t really have interest in him, but after reading your review, I adore him lol. And using bow and arrow is a plus xD

      Welcome to the dark side~ 8D! I wasn’t really interested in him either at the start, because I thought they’d pull some kind of weird plotline with him being a werewolf / not-human but faijhtiahg he’s so normal. And really awesome for being a bounty hunter. Can I also just add that I have a thing for guys who meet the heroine because they’re paid to kill her? xD;;

I hope we get to see more of the wolf pup (人´∀`*)!
