SNB Oda ~ Chapter 1.4 ~

Chapter 1: Valuable Blood

The Oda Army was heading into a battle against Toyotomi.

For some reason, Nobunaga had ordered her to accompany him to the battlefield.

It seemed like he was testing something, but what was the true motive…?

Chapter 1.4

[YUZUKI]: “Aaaah!!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “–ch!!”

[YUZUKI]: (Huh……!?)

I was unable to do anything but crouch down and cover my head, but someone pulled me into them, as if to protect me from the raining arrows. Startled, I raised my head and saw–

[NOBUNAGA]: “Don’t raise your head!”

[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yes!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Hagh!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Tch………… That monkey, he’d turn anything into an opportunity.”

[YUZUKI]: (…… All the arrows are in pieces. He cut them all down……)

When I looked up at Nobunaga, surprised, his arm had been pierced and blood dripped from his fingers.

[YUZUKI]: “Ah…! B-Because you protected me…… We have to hurry and treat that…!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Silence. Don’t make noise over every small thing.”

[YUZUKI]: “B-But you’re bleeding……”

[RANMARU]: “Nobunaga-sama, you’re injured……!?”

[NOBUNAGA]: “It doesn’t matter. This is the perfect moment to test this one’s blood.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Ranmaru, Mitsuhide, beware a second or third wave of arrows. Go and confirm the damage.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “…… Acknowledged.”

When the two left, Nobunaga-san sheathed his blade.

[YUZUKI]: “Um…… we need to hurry and treat your arm……”

[NOBUNAGA]: “I do not need treatment. This arrow wound is nothing.”

Saying that, he ripped out the arrow in his arm.

[YUZUKI]: “Pulling it out that roughly…! You’re going to bleed more……”

[NOBUNAGA]: “You will compensate the amount I lost.”

[YUZUKI]: “Eh…… what do you mean by compensate……”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Have you forgotten? The fact that I am a vampire?”

Nobunaga-san’s sharp eyes watched me– but the moment I understood his words, he had already grabbed my arm.

[YUZUKI]: “Wah! P-Please let me go……!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Shut up. Stop struggling.”

Nobunaga-san pressed me against a nearby tree trunk and easily stopped my movements.

When I looked up at Nobunaga-san, scared, his sharp eyes were looking down at me directly.

[NOBUNAGA]: “–Whose fault do you think it is that I suffered this wound?”

[YUZUKI]: “That’s……”

[YUZUKI]: (…… True, because I was protected I didn’t get hurt……)

And even now the blood continued to flow from Nobunaga-san’s arm.

[NOBUNAGA]: “…… Stay still like that.”

While I couldn’t move, as if I had been shot, Nobunaga-san buried his face somewhat forcibly into my neck.

[YUZUKI]: “–!”

Immediately after feeling a hot breath, a stinging pain ran through my neck.

[NOBUNAGA]: “………… ngh.”

[YUZUKI]: (He’s really… drinking… my blood……)

Whether it was fear or shame, my body stiffened and I couldn’t move a single finger.

[YUZUKI]: (E-Enough… already……)

Unable to even breathe, I tried somehow to push back Nobunaga-sama’s arm but–

[NOBUNAGA]: “…… Don’t get in my way.”

My left arm – the only one that was free – was immediately grabbed and I didn’t know what to do anymore.

And then, Nobunaga-san slowly – as if confirming the taste – swallowed my blood two, three times.

[NOBUNAGA]: “Kgh–!!”

Abruptly, Nobunaga-san raised his head and released me. I sank to the ground, not having any strength, and when I looked up at him–

[NOBUNAGA]: “–!! T-This is……”

[YUZUKI]: (Eh…… his appearance changed!?)

[NOBUNAGA]: “My strength is overflowing, and the arrow wound has been healed in an instant. As I thought, your blood is……”

Nobunaga-san showed an unrestrained smirk, and then in that moment–

[NOBUNAGA]: “–There!”

Pulling out his sword, and with that momentum, Nobunaga-san slashed the thicket beside him.

[TOYOTOMI SOLDIER]: “Guaaaaagh!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Oh? The monkey’s spies. Good grief…… what a shrewd man.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Hmph. Do not think you can escape from me, Nobunaga.”

In an instant, Nobunaga-san closed the distance between him and the soldiers and swung his sword down without hesitation.

The soldiers in that spot were cut down in the blink of an eye and, as if he were bored, Nobunaga flung the blood off his sword.

[NOBUNAGA]: “…… Hm. Against these foot soldiers, I cannot tell how much my abilities have risen.”

[YUZUKI]: (Even though he protected me from arrows, against enemies he really is a merciless person……)

I don’t know what would happen if I went against him. When I felt that fear once again–

[MITSUHIDE]: “Nobunaga-sama, we have finished confirming the damag–…… huh!?”

[RANMARU]: “Uwah! Nobunaga-sama, your appearance! It’s wonderful! You look amazing!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “You two…… Hm…?”

[RANMARU]: “Ah…… you’ve returned to your original appearance……!”

[MITSUHIDE]: “…… Did you perhaps drink this woman’s blood?”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Aa. Whether it was the amount of blood or the quality… It seems the effects are short-lived.”

[RANMARU]: “I see! You brought her along because she possesses amazing blood, huh!”

[YUZUKI]: (Possesses… amazing blood? Me?)

[NOBUNAGA]: “–Now, the damage situation?”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Yes. There has not been much damage. Both Kuroda Kanbee and Takenaka Hanbee have retreated. There is no more danger.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “I see. We will join Katsuie and Nagahide and withdraw.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Yes, my lord.”

[RANMARU]: “With this, the battle is over. We can return to the castle!”

[YUZUKI]: “…… Yes.”

Special blood– while I was concerned about these words, I returned to the castle together with Nobunaga-san and the others.

Lol Nobunaga turned blonde and lost his hair tie in the process xD. He’s very blunt with what he wants. Thanks for the chapter~

I feel like I mentioned this before but it’s so fun seeing their awakened forms though Nobunaga’s is one of those where I prefer his original form LOL, oops. He looks a lot like Alucard from Castlevania in this form kfghkgfhfjk.

He gets a whole chapter to his blood-sucking compared to Hideyoshi’s, ahaha.

And then…! I’ll have to wait again, though I can rest easy that this isn’t as big a cliffhanger as the last chapters, haha! So I guess that’s good, but I have a slight feeling that there are gonna be much more cliffhangers as you mentioned before. X’D

I don’t know about you, but I end up loving those times when someone (in this case, Mitsuhide) is like acting normal or robotic and then they see something and they’re speechless surprised, haha! Thanks for this chapter, and I look forward to the next one! Yay! I can’t wait to see what’ll happen next~ (╹◡╹)

By the way, I think you have another one of those “who’s speaking” errors, though I’m not completely sure. Is it Nobunaga saying “Hmph. Do not think you can escape from me, Nobunaga,” or someone else? It doesn’t sound like Hideyoshi himself, but it sounds a lot like someone from his side… or am I wrong? If that’s the case, really sorry!! (ノ_<)

To be honest, I was going to take a short break after Oda Chapter 1 to finish up a drama CD translation, but Chapter 1 ends on a cliffhanger so it’s like “welp, I gotta translate Chapter 2 now then…” ahaha.

LOL SAME!! If only you could hear his voice, because he talks really calmly and smoothly all the time but he literally made that like “ehhH?!?!” noise when he sees Nobunaga (super cuuuute). I also love seeing someone as cool and composed as Nobunaga being surprised too |D;; so his reaction to the blood and actually clicking his tongue when Hideyoshi surprise attacks them with arrows.

Oh no, I broke your trust after that huge Mitsuhide/Mitsunari error didn’t I ;wwww; ahaha this time it’s actually Nobunaga! He’s referring to himself kind of arrogantly like “Don’t think you can from ME, Nobunaga!” or like “from THIS Nobunaga” or something. Kind of like that meme where it’s like “You thought it was [x], but it was me, Dio!!”.

Oh, when you say drama CD translation, are you by any chance meaning [2]You from Dear Vocalist? And yeah, I can’t wait! I really want to see what happens in the stories haha, especially if the creators just go all out and end them all in cliffhangers. ;w; Ahh, but maybe if it is [2]You who’s coming out as a CD translation, I can probably kill some time with him until Chapter 2 of Oda then. Even though I have no clue what [2]You’s general personality is, one of my more favorite voice actors is acting him out, hehe~

I wish I could hear his voice, it sounds so appealing now. XD I was actually a bit surprised that Nobunaga was surprised, since he usually seems very calm and… cold? I did hear he’s not as cold as he lets on though from some people, but so far in his main story he just seems like this plain cold-hearted commander to me, OTL. What do you think about Nobunaga?

Oh wow, it’s not that you broke my trust, I was just curious since I felt just a bit confused when I read that, but half of me did think that yes, he was being arrogant but from the context or surroundings that made me a little like, “But is that really it?” So I wouldn’t say it’s me not trusting you as much as it is me just being confused, so don’t worry about that, I trust you completely, 100%! X3

Yep, yep, the Dear Vocalist series. He’s my last boy and then I’ll be done the first season and can relax having checked that off the list (second and third season?? I don’t know what you’re talking about–). Oh man, it’s been so long that I can’t remember his CD at all either though I really liked his Riot CD. Heehee, high-five for the Hanae Natsuki bias |D;; we get him in Sengoku as Hideyoshi~

You should check out Mitsuhide’s voice on the official website! He has the softest sweetest voice |D or more like just really smooth and composed. Oh yeah, Nobunaga comes off as REALLY serious and calculating in the main story all the way up to the latest chapters but he has surprisingly childish and cute sides which you only find out through card stories and interactions. I feel like all portrayals of Nobunaga keep this core principle about him (probably what he’s most famous for too) and it’s that he treats people pretty equally, based on skill and merits rather than bloodlines and family lines (how previous periods in history did). They keep a bit of that in the game where he muses on how the most important thing is to get things done and other than that, he doesn’t care about people’s origins. He also drops the most inspiring one-liners ever! I can’t remember where they were but maybe he’ll say one of them during the main story. (It’s basically about how you should have confidence in yourself because you’re the only one who can, and if YOU don’t have confidence in yourself then why should anyone even give you the time of day?).

TL;DR Nobunaga does come off as very cold and calm but at the same time his ruthlessness and brutality is tempered pretty well with his own principles. Ultimately, if you don’t cross him and you serve him loyally, you’ll be treated pretty well |D;; he doesn’t lash out or anything at people and expects you to do your best so you just… naturally do and rise to the occasion. (Also he ADORES animals like his horse and hawk, so). I think… that if I were to place money on which army would win the country it’d be the Oda Army (following history– //bricked) because Nobunaga and his retainers all seem OP as heck.

Aww, hehe, thank you! I’ll still try and think of clearer ways for him to say that line but bleh him referring to himself by name pops up almost as frequently as his “It doesn’t matter” phrase.
