Chapter 6: The Light that Leads to the World
At the end of discussions, she received permission to search for a sacred treasure, and headed to the actual place together with Nagahide.
Inside a cave and not knowing when they might encounter the Toyotomi Army… there they saw…!?
Parting from Imari-kun, I came to–
[MITSUHIDE]: “…… A mirror guarded by a dragon, you say?”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes. I was thinking it could be the sacred treasure in that scroll.”
.[MITSUHIDE]: “…… Did you hear that rumor from Ranmaru?”
[YUZUKI]: “Uh… ah, umm……”
[MITSUHIDE]: “I admit I am curious as well.”
[YUZUKI]: “Really!? Then let’s go look for it immediately–“
[MITSUHIDE]: “–That cannot be done. Because it would be disobeying the order of Nobunaga-sama, who stated that there was no need to search.”
[MITSUHIDE]: “I must have said it before. Please do not go against Nobunaga-sama.”
I was sure that was what he was going to say. But–
[YUZUKI]: (At this rate, no matter how much time passes, I can’t return to my old world.)
That’s why I firmed up my resolve and faced Mitsuhide-san.
[YUZUKI]: “But… what if this rumored mirror was delivered to someone in Toyotomi? I heard that the place was also in Toyotomi territory.”
[YUZUKI]: “The sacred treasure scroll was stolen by Hideyoshi-san. So, once they hear about this mirror I’m sure they’ll go searching. And then, if this becomes an unfavorable situation for Oda……”
[MITSUHIDE]: “…… I see. In other words, you have prepared enough materials to convince me, is that it?”
[MITSUHIDE]: “There is no choice then. I will have this rumor in regard to a mirror being guarded by a dragon reach Nobunaga-sama’s ears.”
[MITSUHIDE]: “Yes…… Now that this has been decided, why don’t we call on everyone.”
[MITSUHIDE]: “–and that is the situation……”
Thanks to Mitsuhide-san, I managed to have Nobunaga-san and the others listen to the story about the mirror.
If I had to say then Ranmaru-kun and Katsuie-san thought it was best to go and search for the sacred treasure but, on Nobunaga-san’s side, he was listening with a complicated expression.
Among them, Nagahide-san also had a difficult look on his face as he opened his mouth.
[NAGAHIDE]: “What’s the credibility in that rumor?”
[MITSUHIDE]: “Fifty-fifty, it could be said. However, I believe it likely for Toyotomi to move to confirm the authenticity.”
[NAGAHIDE]: “…… And knowing that, there’s no need for us to fall behind, is what you’re saying?”
[MITSUHIDE]: “I am not saying anything beyond this……”
[YUZUKI]: (That’s right. The one who decides is……)
Everyone’s eyes gathered on Nobunaga-san.
[NOBUNAGA]: “…… Very well. I will permit a search.”
[NOBUNAGA]: “…… However, I do not intend to send troops out to search for this mirror. If you wish to go, you can go.”
[YUZUKI]: “Wha……!? M-Me, alone……?”
[NOBUNAGA]: “Heh. Alone, you would die before even leaving Oda territory. –Nagahide, I order you to accompany her.”
[NAGAHIDE]: “Yes, my lord. This appointment is acknowledged.”
[YUZUKI]: (I’m glad…… I’m not that close with Nagahide-san yet but… still, having him with me is promising.)
But I was only able to have a peace of mind for one moment–
[NOBUNAGA]: “Nagahide, you are ordered to accompy her, however I will be troubled if you die. In the worst case, I will not mind if you abandon that girl.”
If he could only choose between me and Nagahide-san, he would undoubtedly take Nagahide-san– those words stabbed at me and hurt my heart.
[YUZUKI]: (I knew that but…… he didn’t need to say it so clearly……)
[YUZUKI]: (But…… with this, I can go and look for the mirror guarded by a dragon. If I find the mirror… the sacred treasure, then I can find Himemiko-sama.)
I’ll return to my old world– telling myself that, I pretended not to notice the pain in my chest.
