Chapter 4: Forgotten Fragments of History–
Revealing that she came from a parallel universe, they started to search for Himemiko together.
First, they tried to search for the “sacred treasure” necessary for knowing Himemiko’s location, and so she went out with Shigezane but…
Shigezane-san, who was horribly scolded by Kojuurou-san, ran away to somewhere.
[YUZUKI]: “Masamune-san! Kojuurou-san! Shouldn’t we chase after Shigezane-san!?”
[KOJUUROU]: “It isn’t necessary. Now, let’s return to the castle.”
[YUZUKI]: “Return to the castle……! You’re going to leave Shigezane-san behind and go home!?”
.[MASAMUNE]: “Don’t make such a big fuss. If he’s left alone, he’ll come back at some point anyway.”
[YUZUKI]: “That’s…… you two are too cold!”
[YUZUKI]: “I’m… going to find Shigezane-san! He must be close still!”
[IMARI]: “Please wait! I’ll come with you!”
We turned our backs to Kojuurou-san and Masamune-san and ran in the direction that Shigezane-san went in.
As we looked around the old castle for a short while…
There was Shigezane-san, holding his knees alone in the shadow of some rubble.
When Shigezane-san saw me, he looked down seeming to be uncomfortable.
I didn’t say anything and sat down beside him. Imari-kun did so too, and peeked timidly at Shigezane-san’s expression from my shadow.
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… Uh, umm……”
Shigezane-san hesitated many times, as if having a hard time saying anything, before he resolved himself and stared at me–
[SHIGEZANE]: “Sorry ’bout before.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “It’s because I was being stubborn about fighting alone that…… I put you and Imari in danger.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… Actually, I already know. That I was wrong and Kojuurou is right.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “A commander’s role isn’t to fight alone. A commander’s role is to defend their comrades and win.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “I should know that much. And yet, I……”
[YUZUKI]: “…… Shigezane-san, you did protect us though.”
[YUZUKI]: “Didn’t you hold back the Sanada commander who chased me and let Imari-kun come to me?”
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… Thanks.”
Shigezane-san swiped hard at the tears in the corner of his eyes with his sleeve and looked at me.
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… I’m gonna be stronger. Strong enough to protect you……!”
[YUZUKI]: “Thank you… I’m sure you will.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… Thanks for coming.”
[YUZUKI]: “I couldn’t leave you behind and go home, Shigezane-san…… C’mon, let’s go back.”
[YUZUKI]: “If we don’t hurry, those two will be gone.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Yeah. Let’s go home!”
[YUZUKI]: “Hm? What’s wrong, Imari-kun.”
[IMARI]: “Before we go home, can we look at the hidden room that was found?”
[IMARI]: “If there’s a clue connected to Himemiko-sama then I…… I’d like to confirm it as soon as possible!”
[YUZUKI]: “Ah…… now that you mention it, I completely forgot about that……”
[SHIGEZANE]: “We just about left the clue we finally found and went home, huh.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Alright! Then, before we head home, let’s go see what’s inside!”
[IMARI]: “Yes! Come on, let’s go quickly! Both of you!”
[SHIGEZANE]: “But – and I’m not one to talk – for Masamune and Kojuurou to go home without looking at the hidden room, that’s pretty careless of them.”
[YUZUKI]: “Umm…… I think those two probably don’t know about it.”
[YUZUKI]: “When Masamune-san and Kojuurou-san found me, I was desperate about them going to save you, Shigezane-san……”
[YUZUKI]: “So I missed the chance to talk about the hidden room……”
[SHIGEZANE]: “I seeee. Then we’ll find an amazing clue by ourselves and give them a good shock!”
[IMARI]: “It’d be nice to get information that’ll make them collapse out of surprise!”
We stepped into the hidden room while laughing.
Inside there were several old documents stored. Shigezane-san had an openly disappointed expression.
[SHIGEZANE]: “What, it’s just old books. There’s mountains of these back at the castle.”
[IMARI]: “This is…… and I thought there’d finally be a clue connected to Himemiko-sama……”
Imari-kun, who hung his head in disappointment, looked so sad that I picked up an old document and opened it.
[YUZUKI]: “M-Maybe there’s new information written in here?”
[YUZUKI]: “For example, ummm……”
[YUZUKI]: (Huh… these patterns, are they letters……? I can’t read them at all……)
[YUZUKI]: “…… Um, Shigezane-san, what’s written here?”
I nervously showed the opened old document to Shigezane-san.
Shigezane-san peered at my hands with a face that was clearly not expecting anything.
[SHIGEZANE]: “Let’s see, let’s see……? “What is shown here is”–“
In the middle of his words, Shigezane-san’s eyes widened.
[YUZUKI]: “Shigezane-san? Um, what’s next……?”
[SHIGEZANE]: “This old document…… there’s something amazing written here!!”
[KOJUUROU]: “–Well, well, this is where you were. We looked for you, Shigezane.”
Suddenly, there was a voice from behind us.
When we turned around, Kojuurou-san and Masamune-san looked down at us with exasperation.
[SHIGEZANE]: “Ah…… Kojuurou……”
Shigezane-san cast his eyes down, uncomfortable.
[KOJUUROU]: “Good gracious…… how much do you intend to trouble Yuzuki-san?”
[SHIGEZANE]: “That’s………… I feel bad ’bout it.”
Shigezane-san said this awkwardly. Kojuurou-san sighed and his stern expression softened slightly.
[KOJUUROU]: “I apologize for my harsh words from before.”
[KOJUUROU]: “However, those harsh words are because I wish for you to become a strong commander who protects his comrades–“
[SHIGEZANE]: “I know that already.”
[KOJUUROU]: “…… What?”
[KOJUUROU]: “…… Why are you laughing?”
[YUZUKI]: “Oh, sorry. It’s just, um……”
[YUZUKI]: “Kojuurou-san, you and Masamune-san said to leave Shigezane-san behind and go, but you came looking.”
[YUZUKI]: “And, just now, Shigezane-san said it himself. The exact same things that you’ve said, Kojuurou-san.”
[KOJUUROU]: “Aah…… Is that so. If he’s reflected on himself then…… well, there’s no need for me to fuss any more.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “…… I’m sorry for being careless.”
[KOJUUROU]: “It’s enough that you understand. Now, let’s go home.”
Saying that, Kojuurou-san and Masamune-san turned on their heels.
But Shigezane-san continued standing there and didn’t follow the two.
[MASAMUNE]: “…… Shigezane-san? What’s wrong. Why are you standing around?”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Masamune, Kojuurou. Before we go back to the castle…… there’s something I want to show you two.”
Shigezane-san spread out the old document, which had been in the hidden room, in front of the two and showed them.
[YUZUKI]: (In the end…… what was written inside that book……?)
[YUZUKI]: (Shigezane-san said it was “amazing” but what exactly……)
A shocked expression spread across Masamune-san and Kojuurou-san’s faces as their eyes followed the sentences in the old document.
[KOJUUROU]: “Masamune, this is……”
[MASAMUNE]: “This was found……? This is a great achievement, you guys……”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Hehe! It was worth me defending this place to the last, right?”
Imari-kun jumped up and down, trying to read the old document that Shigezane-san held up.
[IMARI]: “What’s written in there!? Is it something about Himemiko-sama!?”
[MASAMUNE]: “Aa…… I’ll read it.”
[MASAMUNE]: “”What is shown here is the “sacred treasure” which leads one who is worthy to Himemiko”–“
[MASAMUNE]: “”Its whereabouts are”…”
