SNB Toyotomi ~ Chapter 9.3 ~

Chapter 9: Determination

Opposing the mysterious army together, the Toyotomi Army contracted a public alliance with Oda.

However, during the evening banquet, in the midst of harmonious conversations that were flying about, there were sparks between Nobunaga and Hideyoshi…?

Chapter 9.3

[YUZUKI]: “Mouri Army…?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Yep. That’s the name of the army that attacked us and the Oda soldiers this afternoon.”

[MITSUNARI]: “From hereafter, the greatest enemy that Toyotomi will have to oppose to survive.”

.[YUZUKI]: “The greatest enemy… even more dangerous than the Oda Army and other armies?”

[KANBEE]: “Aa. Certainly over Oda, but also a formidable enemy above Takeda and Uesugi.”

[KANBEE]: “Actually, the army that assaulted us today were few in number but it took the Toyotomi Army and the Oda Army cooperating together to barely repel them.”

[HANBEE]: “Honestly, it would have been tough with just the Toyotomi Army.”

[TOSHIIE]: “Nah, if I had a little more time I’d have scattered those guys…”

[HANBEE]: “What are you saying, Toshiie. You were losing a lot of ground.”

[TOSHIIE]: “Ugh…”

[KANBEE]: “That is the extent of the Mouri Army’s… of a demon’s strength.”

[YUZUKI]: “Demon…”

[KANBEE]: “A race of the Gekka Tribe. Their population size is small but their abilities are far superior to us vampires.”

[KANBEE]: “If they are to decide to destroy us, I do not know what will happen…”

[YUZUKI]: “That’s…”

[HANBEE]: “Furthermore, there’s the distance thing too.”

[TOSHIIE]: “Aah, if I remember correctly, we’re closest to their lands, huh.”

[HANBEE]: “Mhm. So, if the Mouri Army is going to attack, there’s a high possibility that we’ll be the first.”

[YUZUKI]: (The situation right now was this dangerous…)

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Hold on, everyone. Please don’t scare this girl too much.”

[MITSUNARI]: “B-But…!”

[TOSHIIE]: “Well, it’ll be okay. The Mouri Army won’t attack us as long as we don’t wage war on them.”

[TOSHIIE]: “That’s how it’s been up to now, right?”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh?… Really?”

[MITSUNARI]: “… Yes. It’s a common rumour that the Mouri Army has no interest in uniting the country, but…”

[MITSUNARI]: “In reality, they attacked us today. Do you not think there is a possibility when it comes to them assaulting us even without us attacking them…!”

[TOSHIIE]: “Well, yeah, but it might have been a whim.”

[MITSUNARI]: “This isn’t a problem you can settle by calling it a whim…!”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “… To be honest, I’ve been thinking that Nobunaga might be pulling strings from the back.”

[MITSUNARI]: “Huh…?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Because the Oda territory is closer in distance to Takeda and Uesugi than the Toyotomi territory.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Even the mighty Uesugi Army and Takeda Army have allied themselves with other armies, you see? In that case, it’d be dangerous for even Nobunaga if he didn’t form an alliance.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “… But we have no reason to tie Toyotomi to an alliance with Oda, right?”

[MITSUNARI]: “That is correct. If Oda is destroyed, it would be problematic as Uesugi and Takeda become increasingly powerful but, having said that, it is not something to offer help… ah!”

[HANBEE]: “Yep yep. That’s why there’s this talk about Oda Nobunaga daring to attack the Mouri Army first. Right, Hideyoshi-sama?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Yeah, that’s right. Nobunaga needed to ally with us no matter what.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “So, he attacked the Mouri Army in advance and forcibly pushed for this alliance… this is really something Nobunaga would seem to do, right?”

[TOSHIIE]: “What, then we got tricked completely by Nobunaga?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Well, of course I have no confirmation, and even if I did I don’t particularly mind.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “If the other side feels like doing that, we should use the Oda Army to our heart’s content too.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Anyway, that’s how it is, so the chances that the Mouri Army will attack from now is pretty low.”

[MITSUNARI]: “However, in that case we really must be vigilant about the Oda Army.”

[HANBEE]: “Since we don’t know when we’ll be shot in the back, huh. We need to make it so that we can deal with anything that comes up immediately.”

[YUZUKI]: (So it’s not a situation where something will happen soon. I’m glad… but…)

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Alright, now that the talks have finished up… let’s continue the banquet!”

[YUZUKI]: (Hideyoshi-san’s smile is a little different than usual… and also…)

[KANBEE]: “……”

[YUZUKI]: (Kanbee-san’s expression is really dark… Isn’t there actually something going on…)

The banquet continued with only the Toyotomi Army. Although the tension was gone with the Oda Army not being present, I couldn’t get in the mood to have fun.

[YUZUKI]: (I’m worried about the talk just now… but this isn’t the atmosphere to ask, huh.)

[HANBEE]: “… Huh, Kanbee, you’re going back to your room already?”

[KANBEE]: “… Aa. I drank too much tonight.”

[YUZUKI]: (I know! I might be able to ask now…!)

I followed after Kanbee-san, who left the room.

[YUZUKI]: “Um, Kanbee-san!”

[KANBEE]: “… What. Are you returning to your room as well?”

[YUZUKI]: “No… there’s something I want to ask…”

[YUZUKI]: “Just now… Is it possible that Hideyoshi-san lied to convince everyeone?”

[KANBEE]: “……”

[YUZUKI]: “So it was like that. I knew it. Um, why did Hideyoshi-san lie…”

[KANBEE]: “Wait… I wish to avoid this being heard by everyone. Let us move somewhere else.”

(T/N: Honestly, as much as romantic scenes gets me going I absolutely love these scenes as well. ALL THE MOVING PIECES (this is probably why I love imperial politics in cdramas and cnovels lol)! Everyone has their own ideals and plans and because Senbura lets us sympathize with all armies it makes the convoluted plots that much agonizing and great. I’m shaking my fist at Nobunaga here because the Oda chapter was all about developing Ranmaru but now after reading this Toyotomi side there is a high possibility that Nobunaga has done this too in his own route but just hasn’t told the heroine because she doesn’t need to know. U G H.)

I can’t believe I only discovered your blog a few days ago this is such a treasure trove for someone like me who has fallen deep into Senbura hell. Thanks so much for your hard work in translating this and I’m looking forward to seeing more~

Hmmm…the plot thickens indeed. For a mobile game this otome series has an amazing narrative and its such a shame that they haven’t thought of releasing this to the West yet (I mean c’mon they released it for Switch, why not release an NA release while they’re at it lmao) but ah well if Touken Ranbu hasn’t been released here yet then I doubt this will either….

Anyways I’m really looking forward to learning more about the armies in the future especially the oh-so-mysterious Mouri group. Not to mention, if Oda and Toyotomi are here along with the others I hope to see the Tokugawa army being released in the near future. What with the complicated relationship Tokugawa has with Toyotomi and Oda it’d be very interesting to see how they will interact in the near future :>

PS : please let the Tokugawa army character design be done by Satoi please please please. If I had it my way I’d rather have Mel Kishida do it but then again he hasn’t really done any games by Otomate before so…. xD

      Aw, you’re welcome and welcome to SNB hell |D;;

I started translating the main story of the game because I thought the same! Especially with how they deal with Uesugi’s issues because hot damn that was some great character development and conflict there. I’ve always been a sucker of games with multiple sides too but being forced to fight each other :’)) so it’s just pain everywhere as everyone fights for their beliefs (which are neither right or wrong) and you know each army intimately well after you’ve gone through all the army routes.

Haha, when SNB teased about an upcoming army everyone was so sure it was going to be Tokugawa but then they pulled out Mouri |D;; so I think people are still clinging to Tokugawa. But yeah there’s a whole bunch of clans out there so fingers crossed we’ll get some more. Ooh, Satoi would be amazing! I’ve actually been hoping for Suoh ahaha.

So it’s Papa Nobunaga’s doing so that’s why Mori army attacks them and dragging Toyotomi to his plans. Now I see why you said they’re peaceful fellows.

Not peaceful enough to not retaliate though |D It’s too hard to keep up with Nobunaga’s plans. I wasn’t expecting this at all.

And the plot thickens, since the armies intersect with each other at some point I wonder if we get to see one of the armies come in contact with Mouri in their own route that would lead them to attack at the alliance meeting. If it was Oda that shows up in Mouri’s route then if confirms Hideyoshi’s hypothetical reasoning or rumor, but then again Yuzuki felt he wasn’t being completely honest. It’s left ambiguous which part of the discussion is interpreted as a lie. In Date’s route they were also attacked by an unnamed army that could have been Mouri and it seems their objective is to capture Yuzuki hinting they somehow know about her mysterious link to Himemiko. Strangely the only one missing is Tokugawa and I wonder if they ever going to show up, if they do who would draw and voice them.

This still a somewhat lighthearted otome mobile game if they go down the dark route with the writing where the army you choose is the one to survive at the end with rest are either destroyed in the conflict or assimilated into the army since the whole point was to unite all of Shinga under one army. If one or more army falls there goes some of your faves, perhaps release 5* cards of the individual(s) from that fallen army with their final thoughts. The bright side is this is unlikely to happen they probably find a way to get all the armies under one for each route. I hope I didn’t jynx it, but it could raise the emotional stakes especially for Yukimura since he’s the most naive and Kenshin who carries ideals that may not be very practical but seems aware of the consequences and follows through anyway.

On a side note I accidentally mistook Kanbee’s word as going to my room for your room in the first skim of the section.

Oh man, I’m cursing my bad memory right now but I feel like there was a mention in Mouri ch4 about Oda coming into their lands or the Oda-Toyotomi alliance coming into their lands. But at that point in time that seems a bit “hmm” unless Nobunaga was framing Toyotomi by going ahead and claiming they were allied when in truth he was still in peace talks with Hideyoshi until he could force Hideyoshi to accept after Toyotomi gets ambushed by Mouri… It totally slipped my mind until I saw all you guys commenting. I’d need to double-check that in Mouri though, haha.

I’m hoping they have plans for another army because the addition of Mouri has thrown the army selection screen out of symmetry LOL whenever I’m looking at the army chapters now there’s this gaping blank spot beneath Mouri because they’re at an odd number with 7 armies. Tokugawa and suou art please!!

My fingers are crossed for a realistic and heavier theme because people are actually dying (and they do talk about this and the sacrifice of their soldiers a lot) so it seems a cop out to not have any of the armies be effected. I can see some bowing under a greater umbrella: like in Oda route Toyotomi will give in or something, etc etc. But I can’t see them all doing that? Like no way would Kenshin be ruled by Nobunaga LOL.

I don’t think it’s a problem for one army to win in their own route because they’ve solved that (marketing) problem by having multiple routes/armies so people can be satisfied with their faves winning by just playing their favorite army! GIVE ME DESPAIR AND ACTUAL DEATHS!!

Omg that’d be uhh very assertive and aggressive of the heroine |D “Hi Kanbee don’t mind as I follow you back to your room–“. We don’t want a repeat of Masamune’s drunken escapades and waking up in her room now! Though I think Kanbee said he drank too much as an excuse to leave the room because he’s totally not drunk at all.
