Chapter 9: The Calm Before the Storm–

Passing through the cave, we arrived at a ruined town. And just when she had a bad premonition, a massive amount of yakuma descended on them.

In the midst of that, Masamune discovered an important clue.

Chapter 9.2

[YUZUKI]: “The important thing is that the Mouri Army’s seal case is in our hands… huh?”

[MASAMUNE]: “That’s right. That town we just saw… and the fact that massive amounts of yakuma appeared most likely means it’s related to the capital.”

[MASAMUNE]: “And this seal case dropped in that area. That being the case, is there not a connection between the Mouri Army and the capital?”

.[YUZUKI]: “The capital…?”

[KOJUUROU]: “Ah, I apologize. You should be told what exactly the capital is, hm.”

[KOJUUROU]: “Now, where should I start explaining from… ah, I know… Once, Shinga was governed by Himemiko and “a certain army” that had received her divine protection.”

[KOJUUROU]: “However, everything changed one day when Himemiko suddenly disappeared from the capital.”

[KOJUUROU]: “And then, around the same time, massive amounts of yakuma began to appear…”

[KOJUUROU]: “The capital declined as a result of Himemiko’s disappearance and was eventually destroyed by the yakuma; the army that had governed Shinga up until then also lost their power.”

[KOJUUROU]: “After that, each army – us included – began to aim towards unifying the country, and so it became this current state of war.”

[YUZUKI]: “I see…”

[KOJUUROU]: “After Himemiko’s disappearance, each army headed towards the capital in order to obtain clues.”

[KOJUUROU]: “However, due to the massive amount of yakuma, they were unable to even arrive there.”

[MASAMUNE]: “If that yakuma infested town just now was the capital then the meaning of this seal case is–“

[SHIGEZANE]: “Oh! It means the Mouri Army might have been nearby when Himemiko disappeared and when the capital was destroyed, right!”

[SHIGEZANE]: “So, does that mean the Mouri Army knows the reason why Himemiko disappeared…?”

[SHIGEZANE]: “No, wait, they might know where she is right now!”

[YUZUKI]: “Then… this seal case is a crucial clue, isn’t it.”

[MASAMUNE]: “Aa. If we let it slip a little to each army that this is an enormous clue connected to Himemiko everyone will believe it.”

[KOJUUROU]: “… Hey, Masamune. What do you mean by letting it slip a little?”

[MASAMUNE]: “It means exactly what it sounds like.”

[MASAMUNE]: “It’s mere speculation that this seal case is evidence for the Mouri Army being present when the capital was destroyed.”

[IMARI]: “You’re right. I’ve been in the capital before, but… I can’t be sure at all if that town is the capital or not.”

[IMARI]: “It might be because everything’s collapsed and there’s no trace left of anything though…”

[MASAMUNE]: “But if we say we “picked this up in the capital” and show the Mouri Army’s seal case, then every army searching for Himemiko will have no choice but to act.”

[MASAMUNE]: “In other words, this seal case is able to tilt these turbulent times in a direction that’s favourable to us.”

[MASAMUNE]: “–That’s why I said it’s important.”

Saying that, Masamune-san smirked and then quickly turned his back to us.

[MASAMUNE]: “We’ve obtained more than enough information. It’s dangerous to stay here any longer, so let’s return for now.”

We returned to Uesugi territory and were met by Kagekatsu-san and Kanetsugu-san, who had openly suspicious expressions.

[MASAMUNE]: “Hm? What happened to Kenshin? He was there when we confronted the Takeda Army and the Sanada Army.”

[KAGEKATSU]: “My father returned home to the castle first…”

[KANETSUGU]: “Hey! Where’d you guys go? During the middle of battle, you guys were gone before we knew it.”

[MASAMUNE]: “We simply got separated.”

[MASAMUNE]: “More importantly, what happened with Takeda and Sanada?”

[KAGEKATSU]: “They withdrew…”

[MASAMUNE]: “Nothing is better than that. Then, we’re returning to Date territory.”

[KANETSUGU]: “… Aa.”

[KAGEKATSU]: “… We’ll send you.”

When we came to the border of Uesugi territory, Masamune-san turned to Kagekatsu-san and Kanetsugu-san and declared this.

[MASAMUNE]: “You can see us off here.”

[KAGEKATSU]: “… You’re really leaving quickly, huh.”

[MASAMUNE]: “Feeling sad?”

[KAGEKATSU]: “Not at all… but…”

[KANETSUGU]: “… After you guys got separated from us, you didn’t find anything, did you?”

[YUZUKI]: “!”

Having the nail hit on the head, my shoulders instinctively jumped but Masamune-san held my shoulders instantly, so that they wouldn’t be able to discern that.

[MASAMUNE]: “What are you talking about?”

[KANETSUGU]: “… No, nevermind. Forget it.”

Masamune-san glanced at Kanetsugu-san as if with a searching eye and then–

[MASAMUNE]: “Relax. We’re now allies. If we grab any useful information, I promise to inform you all without concealing it.”

Saying that, he promptly pushed his horse into a run.

[SHIGEZANE]: “Haaa, I’m dead tired…”

[KOJUUROU]: “Shigezane, if you’re going to sleep then change and sleep in your room.”

There were definitely so many things that happened during the days in Uesugi territory that it felt as if we had been traveling for months.

That’s why, when I looked at Shigezane-san lying down on the ground, I felt like I was somewhat becoming sleepy–

[MASAMUNE]: “Don’t be spiritless. We’re holding a war meeting now. To make effective use of that seal case, it’s best to act soon–“

I rubbed my eyes, having been attacked by drowsiness, and the moment I raised my head I met eyes with Masamune-san.

[YUZUKI]: “Ah… uh, sorry.”

[MASAMUNE]: “……”

[YUZUKI]: “… um.”

[MASAMUNE]: “We’ll have the war meeting tomorrow morning. It’s on you if you oversleep and are late.”

Saying that, Masamune-san went into the castle but–

[YUZUKI]: (Was he being considerate…?)

Right!? Everything’s a little too coincidental and shady… Himemiko’s disappearance… the fall of her bakufu… the rise of the yakuma… HMM.

What is written in this? “既に1枚以上所持しているカードです。最大まで限界突破している場合は魔結晶に変換されます”
I still have tickets in getting chibi cards in last event but not enough. I got a feeling if I press the button yes, somethings gonna lost so I’m troubled 😅 I’m sorry for inconvenience and thank you 🙇

        Welcome baaaaaaack <3!

He probably does mean the bakufu /o\ the one that guarded Himemiko and was blessed with stronger powers than anyone else (but then ended up getting wiped out). I wonder if they were another race… I was gonna guess Mouri was Himemiko's protectors but considering Mouri actually split off and wanted to wage war, hmmm. The history of SNB is still a huge mystery |D don't feel bad!

It's saying that you already have more than one of whatever card you're picking. And if you've already reached maxed copies of that card (iirc 5/5?) then it'll turn into crystals :o.

I hope there’s some survivor of the bakufu because it’s hard to believe that they’re wipe out even though Himemiko disappear and their power.
Oh I see, thank you very much for translating! Muah! 😙
