Chapter 6: Fury of a Raging Lion
Caught by the Takeda Army together with the sacred treasure, she waited to sound out the situation… but it appeared that Shingen’s objective wasn’t the sacred treasure or the power of her blood, but something else.
In the end, that objective was!?
On top of a hill overlooking the old castle below the two generals of the Uesugi and Takeda army clashed.
Shingen-san swung his sword overwhelmingly but Kensin-san sprung back quickly and easily avoided it.
However, even though Kenshin-san thrust the tip of his sword out, Shingen-san caught it without trouble and shoved him back.
This advance and retreat continued and I watched over them anxiously.
[SHINGEN]: “Too slow!”
Kenshin-san and Shingen-san’s battle gradually increased in intensity–
I couldn’t calm down with just only being able to watch and, before I knew it, I was praying with both my hands clasped together.
[KENSHIN]: “Prepare yourself!”
[SHINGEN]: “Not yet!”
[SHINGEN]: “Good, Kenshin! You’re much different from usual!!”
[KENSHIN]: “Is it fine for you not to move your hands, Shingen!”
[SHINGEN]: “Wha– woah!”
Maybe it was Kenshin-san who had a greater fire for this battle though.
With a quiet rage in his eyes, Kenshin-san unleashed his attacks without a pause for breath.
Unable to find a chance to counterattack Shingen-san retreated one step, and then another step–
The distance between me, who was behind Shingen-san, and Kenshin-san shrunk little by little.
[SHINGEN]: “Doesn’t look like I can fall back anymore… then!”
Shingen-san suddenly leapt over Kenshin-san and went behind him.
[KENSHIN]: “–You’re wide open!”
Kenshin-san went in, aiming for the moment Shingen-san landed, and thrusted the tip of his sword at Shingen-san’s throat.
[KENSHIN]: “This is the end, Shingen.”
The battle was settled. I stepped forward to make sure of Kenshin-san’s victory. At that moment.
[???]: “Hey, don’t move around on your own.”
One of Shingen-san’s vassals grabbed my arm and yanked me back into place.
Startled, I unconsciously raised my voice and was caught by Kenshin-san’s anxious look.
And, maybe seeing that moment as a good opportunity, Shingen-san swung his sword up greatly–
[SHINGEN]: “You have a lot of time to look away like that.”
Kenshin-san collapsed to a knee after receiving Shingen-san’s slash directly.
Blood poured from the place he was cut and stained the ground dark red.
Shingen-san pointed his sword at Kenshin-san, who was pressing down on his wound, and stated this.
[SHINGEN]: “To think you’d turn your attention to that girl in the middle of a duel.”
[SHINGEN]: “… This long-awaited fight has been spoiled.”
[SHINGEN]: “I’ve always wanted to settle our dispute, not against you as the general of Uesugi who fought those boring defensive battles–“
[SHINGEN]: “But as a man, living in “Shinga”, and putting our lives on the line.”
[SHINGEN]: “But it looks like I was mistaken.”
Shingen-san continued in a voice that seemed to have lost interest.
[SHINGEN]: “You were strong because you were the general of Uesugi.”
[SHINGEN]: “And now you, who fell in love with that girl and ended up becoming a man– became much weaker than you used to be.”
[SHINGEN]: “That girl made you weak.”
[KENSHIN]: “I care not what you say about me. However… I will not permit you to disrespect her.”
Stabbing his sword into the ground to rise, Kenshin-san tried to fight once more.
But the blood from the wound he received on his chest continued to flow endlessly–
If he continued to fight like that he might lose his life.
[YUZUKI]: (In the first place, the reason Kenshin-san got that wound was… me.)
[YUZUKI]: (If I wasn’t here, he…)
Thinking up to that point, I suddenly realized something and gave my head a small shake.
[YUZUKI]: (I don’t want to be Kenshin-san’s burden anymore.)
[YUZUKI]: (No, I can’t let Kenshin-san die.)
After deciding on my resolution I bit the arm of the commander who was restraining me.
[???]: “OW! Hey, what are you doing!”
[YUZUKI]: (Now’s my chance…!)
Picking the time when the commander was surprised and his hold loosened, I began to run as fast as I could.
[???]: “Geez, don’t think you can run away on those girly legs–“
[???]: “Don’t! Stop looking down on her and stop that girl!”
It was natural for them to be shaken.
The place I headed was not in the direction of Kenshin-san and the others, but to the end of the hill.
[YUZUKI]: (If leaving things the way they are will let Kenshin-san die, then all the more for me to–)
I made up my mind and jumped off the hill.
[KENSHIN]: “WAIT, DON’T–!”
I slowly closed my eyes while listening to Kenshin-san’s panicked voice.
[YUZUKI]: (I’m sorry… Kenshin-san.)
(T/N: Shingen, please, you don’t get to say that when you’re head-over-heels for the heroine in your rout– LOL. Anyone crying yet? I just. HONESTLY THIS CHAPTER KEEPS DELIVERING. Shingen’s lines!! Kenshin’s line and anger at Shingen disrespecting the heroine!! The heroine’s actions. GURL. PLEASE. YOU JUST TRAUMATIZED KENSHIN.)
