SNB Toyotomi ~ Chapter 10.5 ~

Chapter 10: Forward

The information brought by Kanbee who returned from his reconnaissance was that Date and Oda had made contact behind-the-scenes.

Realizing that it was in order to attack Mouri, the decision that Hideyoshi made was…?

Chapter 10.5

Indeed, Hideyoshi-san asked Nobunaga-san for reinforcements before the Mouri attack.

[YUZUKI]: (But its biggest purpose should have been to let Nobunaga-san know that we were attacking Mouri and taking the lead…)

[MITSUNARI]: “Contrary to our expectations, Nobunaga-san sent over reinforcements to a massive extent.”

.[TOSHIIE]: “… What’s with that. It hadn’t even been that long since we sent our letter to Oda…”

[TOSHIIE]: “For those Oda guys to be able to prepare this much…”

[MITSUNARI]: “Perhaps they… read our movements from the very beginning.”

[KANBEE]: “We cannot conclude that under these conditions. Nobunaga is a man who makes swift decisions. At the very least, if he has sent this abnormal number of reinforcements then–“

[KANBEE]: “Nobunaga himself can easily imagine that we would feel a sense of suspicion that he was up to something.”

[MITSUNARI]: “Still, to send this number of soldiers… Has Oda’s territory not become mostly empty?”

[MITSUNARI]: “With Takeda and Uesugi actively moving presently, I cannot think he is in his right mind to make his lands empty.”

[KANBEE]: “The one who obtains Himemiko takes the world… If that is the case, there is no need to hold back.”

[KANBEE]: “That may be the case in the end.”

[HANBEE]: “They have an alliance with Date so, in case of any attacks, they’re able to take countermeasures.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Well, as far as not being stingy is concerned, I’m of the exact same opinion.”

Right now, even Hideyoshi-san was trying to invade Mouri territory with all the military force he could gather.

[YUZUKI]: (Hideyoshi-san and Nobunaga-san intend to challenge them with their full might…)

[TOSHIIE]: “Hmph, I can’t stand those Oda Army guys.”

[TOSHIIE]: “But it’s not a bad thing for our number of allies to be a lot.”

[TOSHIIE]: “This seems like it’s gonna be a bigger war than I imagined!”

[YUZUKI]: “… Mm, that’s right…”

[HANBEE]: “What’s wrong? Lately, it feels like your mind’s been occupied.”

[YUZUKI]: “Ah, no… it’s nothing.”

As I answered that, I couldn’t help but recall Himemikos-sama’s words.

[HIMEMIKO]: “I would like you to make this Shinga a peaceful place without war once more.”

[HIMEMIKO]: “The power of your blood is necessary for that.”

[YUZUKI]: (Himemiko-sama said that but can I even do that…?)

[YUZUKI]: (Of course, I think it’d be nice if there weren’t any conflicts but…)

In truth, even if I was in front of everyone and about to head towards a great battle from here, I wasn’t able to do anything.

[YUZUKI]: “… Um, Hanbee-kun, what do you and the others fight for?”

[HANBEE]: “Huh? That’s an abrupt question~. Hmmm… for everyone to live enjoyably, maybe?”

[YUZUKI]: “Live enjoyably…”

[HANBEE]: “Mhm, that’s right! If Hideyoshi-sama takes the world then I’m sure everyone can live much more happily.”

[HANBEE]: “I’m fighting right now for that.”

[TOSHIIE]: “Yeah, I believe that it’s only with Toyotomi uniting the country that’ll lead to Shinga’s peace.”

[TOSHIIE]: “Besides, if I follow Hideyoshi, I think I’ll get to see fun things.”

Toshiie-san smiled while saying that.

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Ohhh. You’re asking what everyone’s fighting for?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Mitsunari, Kanbee, how about you guys?”

[MITSUNARI]: “I want to demonstrate the abilities I have in a world that Hideyoshi-sama governs.”

[KANBEE]: “I mentioned this before but I am indebted to Hanbee and Hideyoshi-sama. Moreover, being here, I can try various plans.”

[HANBEE]: “Yep, yep. It’s fun to shock everyone with a flashy plan you come up with, right~!”

[MITSUNARI]: “Though sometimes I wish you would also think about the expenses related to those plans…”

[YUZUKI]: “Hahaha…”

[YUZUKI]: (Everyone is the same as always…)

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Ah, you finally smiled.”

[YUZUKI]: “Eh?”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “I don’t know what you’ve been troubled over, but I’m sure it’ll be alright.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “‘Cause there’s a whole bunch of interesting guys gathered here.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Toyotomi won’t lose to anyone. We will definitely become… the very best.”

[YUZUKI]: “The very… best.”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Yeah. And at that time–“

[YUZUKI]: “Wah… H-Hideyoshi-san!?”

I was carried by Hideyoshi-san and placed on the horse.

[HIDEYOSHI]: “We’ll look at the scenery at the summit together with everyone here!”

Saying that, Hideyoshi-san hugged me tightly from behind, as if to support me.

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Are you ready?”

[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yes…!”

Hideyoshi-san kicked his horse into a run.

[HANBEE]: “Ah, wait, Hideyoshi-sama! It’s not faaair to get a head start!”

[HIDEYOSHI]: “This is what they call first come, first served!”

I thought this again while I watched everyone chase after us.

What was waiting for us beyond this battle…

[YUZUKI]: (Himemiko-sama… it’s too big of a goal to return peace to Shinga with my own hands… I can’t imagine it.)

[YUZUKI]: (That’s why right now… I’ll aim for a world where all the people that I love in the Toyotomi Army can live with a smile–)

[YUZUKI]: (I’m going to try hard for that sake.)

[YUZUKI]: (If the power of my blood leads to protecting everyone’s smile…)

[HIDEYOSHI]: “Come on! Here we go to Mouri territory!”

Okay so I know things are getting serious and I should be paying attention to the plot but dear Lord why is it that everytime Hideyoshi’s face shows up I can’t help but just focus on that…annoyingly charming face oh for the love of Natsuki Hanae I’m supposed to be biased towards Yukimura and Masamune but Hideyoshi is just too much I CAN’T IGNORE HIS CHARMS SEND HELP PLZ Σ(;・益・;;;)!!!

HAHA It’s the power of Hanae’s voice and Hideyoshi’s adorable grins and smirking face. He’s way too attractive in every sense of the word to be fair–. I’m afraid I can’t help you because he’s my number one bias so :’)) it’s already too late for me.

Motonari hugged her to sleep on a cliff?

ON A CLIFF? that doesnt sound romantic.

I think they were heading through a mountain or something and it was pretty romantic because of the scenery :’D and she was cold, so he sat behind her and held her like that. And then she just fell asleep against his chest and he let her. Smooth grandpa.

That is a lot pressure to placed on Yuzuki, getting requested by a celestial entity of all things with making Shinga peaceful again when it looks like a full blown war can break out at any moment. It’s like a random person coming up to you declaring the fate of country is now in your hands or telling you to remember your training for an upcoming situation only for you to chase after them that you never had training as they up and leave.

On Himemiko’s part she probably has a lot to say to Yuzuki before they got disconnected so suddenly. She is somewhere out there whether it’s on the physical plane or not is left as a “?” I wonder if we ever going to see how she looks like, based from Yuzuki’s reaction she’s beautiful and personality wise she seems to have a bit of a playful side to her.

Yeeep. I honestly don’t blame the heroine’s thoughts here for being like “Uh, that’s a pretty grand task and I don’t even know what to do right now” especially when, like you said, full blown war is about to break out and Toyotomi doesn’t exactly have a say in anything when they’re tied with Oda and Oda is going around invading other countries LOL. It’s… um… sounding nigh impossible to try and get everyone to cooperate; the only option I see is powering up Toyotomi so much that they subjugate the other armies.

It’s interesting to see the slight differences in other armies because a similar scene (oops spoilers?) happens in Oda but the heroine’s reaction is a bit different and I feel like Himemiko talks just a taaad bit more there too. Still mysterious but it kind of sounds like Himemiko can control her projections? Or at least has a limited time to talk to MC… somehow.

Excited!!!! Can’t wait to next chapters, especially Takeda’s and Uesugi’s!!! ^o^)/

But of course, really hope for Mouri’s next chapters to come out~ (until now it’s still stuck in ch 4)

Everyone’s starting to get impatient at how Mouri is reacting to all these events happening outside, haha. But maybe that’s why they have so little chapters because they’ve been so isolated. But then again we could just get more character development chapters :'(( nothing stopped them from giving Sanada endless yakuma defense chapters…

I’m excited to see where Uesugi and Takeda goes too! Especially since they just tweeted the previews and it looks like my previous guess was right. Uesugi is going for Oda (ohhh boyyyyy).

*stares at my translations* *stares at updates* *looks back at my translations* Please. stop. SNB. Why are you going so fast– haha, just kidding just kidding. It was a pretty calm chapter for Uesugi and Takeda so I hope the action starts rising again; especially since it’s a calm before the storm for Oda and Toyotomi still.

I wonder if Uesugi and Takeda will head to Mouri too… or if they’re going to head to Oda or Toyotomi instead LOL.

It was a pretty calm chapter for Uesugi and Takeda.

calm? i have experienced rollercoaster of emotions here. yuzuki being suicidal in uesugi route. and being scold by shingen in takeda route.

@Ilinox It’s always suspicious when SNB comes this fast. I’m afraid the main story will be heading to the end soon though the don’t update Mouri route recently. I hope it to be as long as an epic >< I want to read more.

I'd love to see Uesugi & Takeda face Oda & Toyotomi more than invading only Mouri. I personally think if all armies battle Mouri, that would mean Mouri are greatest villains whom every vampires and werewolves need to gather power and force just to fight them? If that is true, I'm afraid the main story will become end too quickly LOL If Oda & Toyotomi are invading Mouri while Uesugi & Takeda are invading Oda & Toyotomi (and Oda was betrayed by Date maybe), it would be real mess haha

@waterinegirl I find the scene MC was scolded by Shingen is pretty touching LOL It's one of my favorite scenes in Takeda route. We can hear how much he's worried about her safety from that unusual powerful voice. And since he's the chilled type and kind person, to scold her in front of his vassals and later feel sorry and sad LOL

that’s one of the reasons why my favorite army is shingen and usuegi

oh that’s a good place to put the story on hiatus before they update the rest of the clans (and hopefully that includes the Mouri’s too). still don’t see why Yuzuki didn’t tell them about her brief meeting with Himemiko, or Imari for that matter. it’s not that Himemiko asked her to keep it a secret…

if she were me, I’d let them know. not sure if the other guys would believe her but Hideyoshi might (to a degree, I imagine). then he probably want to let Nobunaga knows too but he probably wouldn’t believe it. so does the werewolves. Toyotomi would probably goes on a preach for peace strategy (unlikely, I know) then Nobunaga kidnapped Yuzuki to have her tell the real story… aaand that as far as I can go with this headcanon lol thank god I’m not Senbura’s writer.

*whispers* anyone wanna remind me why Kanbee is indebted to Hanbee? my memory pretty sucked *whispers*

I’m really curious as to if Mouri will get a Chapter 5 before everyone gets Chapter 11 now… I don’t even remember where we last left off in Mouri LOL Motonari hugged her to sleep on a cliff? They were preparing for their journey outside??

I don’t understand why she’s so secretive in Toyotomi or Oda either. Is it something about the vampires and stereotypes of them being more, hm, villainous or monstrous compared to werewolves?! LOL. Maybe she just doesn’t know what to tell them because it’s not like Himemiko said anything worth noting except “bring peace to Shinga with your blood” which is a bit like, duh, that’s what all the leaders are trying to do? And they’ve naturally used the MC for that.

I don’t think Hideyoshi would share any information about the heroine to Nobunaga actually because of how possessive he is and he doesn’t want her to be marked by Nobunaga. It’s already a miracle that Nobunaga didn’t seem to give much interest to her blood. And I think her ability to activate the sacred treasures is still hidden (in Oda/Toyotomi to the other party).

leohikarusora’s got it right I think, or at least that’s the only conversation I can remember too. Kanbee was framed I think (?) and then put in jail and left to die but Hanbee came to break him out. Not sure where Hideyoshi fits in this (or if he means a separate instance, or just general indebtedness for Hideyoshi using him as one of his main strategists) but we don’t really know how Hideyoshi recruited any of them LOL apart from them being together in the Oda army.

Umm..can I jump in? Following the manga version (I don’t know if the game version has the same reason to manga though, my memory about Toyotomi route is pretty poor), Kanbee explained clearly to the MC that Hanbee helped him from prison where he was caught in misunderstanding (just like Ilinox and leohikarusora mentioned). From then, they were getting closer and became best friends.

I’m very! Late to this because I just started to play the game, but the whole thing with Hanbei helping Kanbei out of prison is based on an actual historical event. There was one time where Kanbei was sent by Hideyoshi as an emissary to Itami Castle to negotiate with Araki Murashige, who had holed himself up after being accused of sympathizing with the Mouri. The Araki were allies with the Kodera, who were the Kuroda family’s masters, and so, Kanbei (who had seemingly never come back) was accused of betraying the Oda and Toyotomi; Hideyoshi was reprimanded for carelessly sending Kanbei without checking his background and Nobunaga then ordered for Hanbei to execute and take Kanbei’s son’s head. Kanbei’s negotiations had failed since Murashige chose to imprison Kanbei instead.

However, Hanbei had believed in his friend and continued to stall the execution (having Kanbei’s son – Nagamasa – in his custody and growing up with his clan, so they’re very close as is) while plotting a way to rescue Kanbei. Ultimately, all of this led to the Siege of Itami in 1579, where Kanbei was rescued and his son was spared because Kanbei’s innocence could be proven. But, historically, Kanbei suffered a leg disorder and lost sight in one of his eyes from an injury while escaping and being imprisoned for so long.

It’s a very touching scenario to be honest! And I think it’s the most famous of Hanbei and Kanbei’s friendship. Afterwards, Kanbei was grateful and felt indebted to his friend for saving both him and his son, and so he shared his family crest with Hanbei. It was about a year later that Hanbei succumbed to his illness though, and part of it was because he worked even harder to make up for Kanbei’s absence and all of the stress that came with it.

Hanbei is also older than Kanbei, so~ I do love their Senbura iterations a lot (I’m weak for Sengoku content!), and I literally squealed when I saw the reference to Kanbei’s imprisonment…!
