Chapter 10: At the End of Schemes, Hope is Connected–
Utilizing the seal case discovered in the destroyed town to make use of other armies, Masamune plans to aim at Mouri territory.
Furthermore, as if seeing an opportunity, a messenger arrives from the Uesugi Army. This also appears to be Masamune’s scheme…
In the evening of the next day, after Masamune-san revealed his large-scale plan to tie an alliance with the Oda Army and use the massive war that would occur in the future to head to Mouri.
We gathered in a room to talk and, while doing so, Masamune-san passed a single letter and wrapping paper to Kojuurou-san.
[MASAMUNE]: “Kojuurou, prepare a messenger.”
.[KOJUUROU]: “A messenger…? For war preparations?”
[MASAMUNE]: “Well, you can consider it that.”
[MASAMUNE]: “First, wrap this letter in that paper, then place it in a letter box with the Date crest on it, and hand it over to Oda Nobunaga.”
[KOJUUROU]: “… What is this?”
[MASAMUNE]: “You only need to do as I say.”
[MASAMUNE]: “If Nobunaga is as sharp and able as the rumors say, then he should understand my intention.”
[MASAMUNE]: “If he doesn’t understand then… he’d just be a man whose limit was that.”
In the meantime, when Kojuurou-san opened the wrapping paper he was handed, there were two designs drawn inside.
[YUZUKI]: (I wonder what those two patterns are…?)
[KOJUUROU]: “These crests… Uesugi and Takeda?”
When I looked closer, those two crests seemed to be bound with something like a rope.
[MASAMUNE]: “Put those designs inside and wrap it in the letter, so that they’ll be the first thing that’s visible when it’s opened.”
[MASAMUNE]: “… With this all the stones have been set. Now we only have to wait.”
Masamune-san smirked and turned on his heel to leave the room.
Already, in the evening of this day, preparations for provisions of the next battle were steadily proceeding.
During this, when I went out to the courtyard with Imari-kun, Shigezane-san was casually exercising his horse.
[SHIGEZANE]: “Alright, this is good. I’ll be having you run a lot in the future, so work hard!”
As I watched this sight, Shigezane-san dismounted his horse and, noticing me, waved his hand.
[SHIGEZANE]: “Yo, taking a walk?”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes, with Imari-kun, since there’s little war preparations I can help with.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Don’t worry ’bout it! Being Imari’s babysitter is also a big help!”
[IMARI]: “T-That’s not true! If anything happens, I’ll be the one protecting her!”
Imari-kun puffed out his cheeks at being told he was being babysat.
[SHIGEZANE]: “Aah, okay, okay. My bad, don’t be so angry.”
[YUZUKI]: “Shigezane-san, you can’t tease him too much.”
[SHIGEZANE]: “But this guy’s so fun.”
As we continued this idle chatter, Imari-kun suddenly screamed.
When I turned around in a panic, Shigezane-san’s horse looked like it tried to mess with Imari-kun and was gnawing at his tea kettle.
[YUZUKI]: “Ah, Imari-kun!?”
[IMARI]: “PLEASE LET ME GOOO!”
[SHIGEZANE]: “Hey now, if you eat that you’ll hurt your stomach!”
[YUZUKI]: “I-Is that what you’re focusing on, Shigezane-san!?”
[YUZUKI]: “A-Anyway, let go of Imari-kun. Good boy, good boy!”
[MASAMUNE]: “You lot are being noisy.”
[KOJUUROU]: “Good gracious… what is happening.”
Masamune-san and Kojuurou-san, who came from the veranda, eyed Shigezane-san suspiciously.
[SHIGEZANE]: “You got it wrong! It’s not my fault! Come on, let go I said!”
When Shigezane-san hurriedly persuaded it, the horse finally released Imari-kun.
[YUZUKI]: “Imari-kun, are you okay?”
[IMARI]: “Y-Yes, somehow…”
In that moment, something spilled out of the tea kettle when the lid fell off after it was dropped–
[SHIGEZANE]: “Huh? What’s that?”
[KOJUUROU]: “I’ve never seen such a thing before…”
[YUZUKI]: (? I wonder what the three of them are looking at…?)
When I also took a peek at the thing everyone was observing–
[YUZUKI]: “Ah! Is that possibly…!”
[MASAMUNE]: “What, do you happen to know what it is?”
[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yes. That’s–…”
It was my cell phone, which I thought I lost when I came to Shinga.
