SNB Takeda ~ Chapter 1.1 ~

Chapter 1: Even a Chance Meeting is Due to Fate

In a hurry, everyone inside the castle were preparing for the next battle.

In a world where battles were around the corner, she started to look for something she could be even a little help with, but…

Chapter 1.1

[YUZUKI]: (Ngh… mmgh…)

[YUZUKI]: (Huh, this is… Ah!)

Remembering the things that happened yesterday, my sleepy mind woke up instantly.

[YUZUKI]: (That’s right. I came to an unfamiliar world called Shinga… And then while I was thinking about what to do…)

[???]: “HYAH! HRAGH!!”

[YUZUKI]: (… I hear a voice outside. This voice… it’s Shingen-san…?)

Abruptly, the kind smile that Shingen-san showed me yesterday crossed my mind.

[YUZUKI]: (I don’t want to stay here staring out into space alone…)

Relying on the voice I was hearing, I searched for Shingen-san.

[YUZUKI]: (Erm… the voice was coming from here…)

Because it was early in the morning, there were no signs of life in the castle and, after walking around here and there, I finally came out into a place that was like a courtyard.

[YUZUKI]: (Ah… there he is!)

[YUZUKI]: (He’s only making practice swings but there’s so much force!)

I didn’t want to interrupt but for some reason I wanted to watch for a while, and so I quietly tried to move to the side.

But the instant I took a step, Shingen-san’s ears twitched.

[SHINGEN]: “–Oh? What, you’re awake already.”

[YUZUKI]: “Yes. Good morning.”

[YUZUKI]: (Come to think of it, yesterday Shingen-san said he and the others were werewolves… I wonder if their ears are good as well.)

[YUZUKI]: “Sorry for interrupting…”

[SHINGEN]: “Don’t worry about it. I was just thinking of taking a breather.”

[SHINGEN]: “By the way, how’s your body?”

[YUZUKI]: “I’m fine. I slept soundly at night.”

[SHINGEN]: “Ah, that’s good. Actually, last night, I went to check in on you but at that time you weren’t moving at all.”

[SHINGEN]: “I was a bit worried whether you were alive or not.”

[YUZUKI]: (He went out of his way to check on me…)

[YUZUKI]: “Thank you, Shingen-san… Ah, should I call you Shingen-sama…”

[SHINGEN]: “Haha, call me however you’d like.”

[SHINGEN]: “Oh yeah, that’s right. If you’re okay with it, how about I show you to everyone… kgh! *cough cough*…!”

Shingen-san suddenly had a painful coughing fit and I reflexively ran over to him.

[YUZUKI]: “Shingen-san, are you okay!?”

[YUZUKI]: (Should I rub his back at a time like this?)

While I panicked over what to do, Shingen-san’s coughs subsided and he smiled as if nothing had happened.

[SHINGEN]: “Sorry, my bad. I just choked a little.”

[YUZUKI]: “R-Really? If that’s all then…”

[SHINGEN]: “Ah, right. Will you let me introduce my friends? There wasn’t enough time yesterday to show everyone’s faces.”

[SHINGEN]: “Come on, over here.”

Led by a smiling Shingen-san, we went deeper into the courtyard and I could hear the sounds of something clashing violently.

[???]: “HAAAAGH!”

[???]: “Hmph!”

[SHINGEN]: “Ohh, not bad.”

[???]: “HRAAGH!”

[???]: “What!”

[SHINGEN]: “Right now, the one who’s lunging in is Yamagata Masakage. And the one who caught that cleanly is Baba Nobuharu-san.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Ha ha ha, not a bad stab. However, though this may be a mock battle, do not ease up. Come at me with a killing intent!”

[YUZUKI]: (K-Killing intent!)

[MASAKAGE]: “I’ve always gone at you with that! Yet I haven’t landed anything, have I!”

I looked up at Shingen-san, shocked at this dangerous conversation, but Shingen-san was unperturbed and watched over them.

[YUZUKI]: (I don’t really know but maybe this is natural for Shingen-san and the others…)

[MASANOBU]: “Stop there!”

[MASANOBU]: “… Nobuharu-san has also won today.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Ahhh. Like I thought, I’m no match for Nobuharu-san, huh.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Ha ha ha. I can always be your opponent again.”

[SHINGEN]: “Yo, everyone, you’re all pretty fired up this morning.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Ah, Shingen-sama! Good morning! And last night’s…”

[YUZUKI]: “I’m Yuzuki. Thank you very much for yesterday.”

[MASAKAGE]: “… Hmph.”

[YUZUKI]: (Er… somehow he seems guarded against me?)

The gaze directed at me hurt and, when I quietly turned my head away, this time I met eyes with Nobuharu-san who was staring at me with immense curiosity.

[NOBUHARU]: “Hmmm. I heard from Shingen, you know? That you were on top of that unfamiliar tree when you woke up… but I can’t see you as someone who could climb such a tall tree!”

[YUZUKI]: “Ah, uh, um.”

[MASANOBU]: “Hey now, you two. It’s pitiful to be stared at so hard by dirty men. Especially you, Masakage. It’s not polite to glare.”

[MASANOBU]: “Sorry for scaring you. I am Kousaka Masanobu. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”

[YUZUKI]: “Yes. It’s nice to meet you.”

[SHINGEN]: “And there’s one more. This guy is Naitou Masatoyo– er, huh?”

[SHINGEN]: “Sorry. Masatoyo, that guy, seems to have gone somewhere. Well, I can introduce him to you later–“

[???]: “Um, excuse me~…”

[MASATOYO]: “I’ve been here this entire time actually…”

[SHINGEN]: “WOAH!? Y-You were here, Masatoyo! My bad! I didn’t notice!”

[MASATOYO]: “Well, I don’t mind. This is always the case.”

[MASATOYO]: “Umm… once again, I am Naitou Masatoyo. It’s often said that my presence is weak but it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yes. It’s nice to meet you.”

[SHINGEN]: “Now, I gave my name yesterday but…”

[SHINGEN]: “My name’s Takeda Shingen. I’m this Takeda Army’s general. Again, it’s nice to meet you.”

[YUZUKI]: “Thank you, it’s nice to meet you as well.”

When these rough introductions were done, Shingen-san turned to Masakage-san and the others.

[SHINGEN]: “… At any rate, you guys have been practicing pretty hard since this morning.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Of course, Shingen-sama. That’s because today is an important day!”

[SHINGEN]: “Hahaha, I see. That’s promising. Let’s go and give it to those guys today too.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Yes, sir!”

[YUZUKI]: “Um… is something happening today?”

[MASAKAGE]: “Huh? Something, you ask… Isn’t that obvious?”

[MASAKAGE]: “A battle, a war! Geez, this is why women are…”

[YUZUKI]: “W-War…!?”

[SHINGEN]: “Now then, looks like you guys can’t wait so why don’t we head soon. Let’s go and give it our all, everyone!”

[YUZUKI]: “Ah, u-um…”

[SHINGEN]: “Don’t look so worried. I’ll let everyone in the castle know about you.”

[YUZUKI]: “But…”

[SHINGEN]: “What, we’ll be back immediately. You can just take it easy and relax here.”

[YUZUKI]: (Even if he tells me to take it easy…)

As Shingen-san’s back disappeared, my anxiety became bigger and bigger–

[TAKEDA ARMY SOLDIER]: “Hey, we’re leaving for the front soon. Hurry up. Why are you carrying that stuff? Doesn’t that belong to the medical corps?”

[TAKEDA ARMY SOLDIER]: “I’ve been temporarily entrusted with it. Lately, there aren’t enough people. We’re so busy I’d even borrow the help of a cat… Alright, I’m done preparing. Let’s go.”

I suddenly heard an exchange between two people who seemed like soldiers. There was a shortage of hands… Hearing that, a feeling sprang up inside me.

[YUZUKI]: (In the end, I can’t just wait here like this… Even I should be able to help out with something. I want to be useful to Shingen-san and the others…!)

Unable to suppress my feelings, I chased after Shingen-san and the others.

(T/N: Starting from the beginning again where MC has to get everyone’s trust :’) I forgot how warm and kind Shingen is. He’s like the ideal older boyfrie– LOL.)

Takeda Army!!!! Yay!!!! I’m so happy. Thank you very much, Ilinox. =3

[SHINGEN]: “Ah, right. Will you let me introduce my friends?

I love that he calls them ‘friends’ instead of ‘vassals’.
I like all of them… well, Masakage maybe not that much. I impatient to learn more about their personalities. But of course, Shingen is my favorite of all in all the armies. He is kind, and warm, and… and… *sigh…*.

You’re very welcome <33! IIRC you were waiting for this one, right?

It's bros before anything else here in the Takeda army LOL with the MC included as being one of their bros/nakama. Ehehe, Masakage is too much like a 12yo boy to get angry at |D but I think he'll turn around soon and fall for the heroine first. As most first chapters go, this is gonna be alllllll about Shingen so please enjoy ;D.

        Sure I’ll enjoy this.
I found the gameplay of youtube, so I’ll be listening too =3
(I found ch1 complete, I hope there are more.)

[MASANOBU]: “Hey now, you two. It’s pitiful to be stared at so hard by dirty men. Especially you, Masakage. It’s not polite to glare.”
Masanobu made my day. Surely he says dirty because Masakage and Nobuharu was trained or for another reason.
[SHINGEN]: “Lo siento. Masatoyo, ese tipo, parece haber ido a alguna parte. Bueno, puedo presentarte a ti más tarde …
    [???]: “Um, disculpa ~ …”
[MASATOYO]: “He estado aquí todo este tiempo en realidad …”
That Masatoyo always goes unnoticed is so funny and scary at the same time. He could harass someone easily.

      Ilinox responded:
      May 17, 2018 at 22:41

Yep yep, that’s what Masanobu meant! But I dunno Masanobu~ if Shingen was training with his shirt off I wouldn’t mind it if he was sweaty ifyaknowwhatimea– I’M SORRY. I’M SORRY!! Hahahaha.

I keep thinking they have SUCH a good secret weapon in Masatoyo’s lack of presence but I guess that’s why his personality balances his scary power |D;; he’s way too nice to use it badly.

Also, oh gosh, I’m curious about google translate running through what I’ve translated. Does it do pretty okay? I wonder if it’d be more accurate to run the original Japanese through google translate /o\.

        Hisui Sama said:

As for the translation of google from English to Spanish, it does it quite well. My English is actually a bit bad, so I read it translated, I would give it a 9. Although I have decided to go over English. When commenting it takes time, since I have to be moving from Spanish to English, English to Spanish and see that I do not lose much sense of what I mean.

About the translation of Japanese, I’m not sure, the subtitles of YouTube are for dying of riza and are part of the translation of google. I only translated the titles of the video to see what are the kanji of the armies and can find them later, so I do not know how good it would be with the texts. I do not know how good it would be from Japanese to English.

        Ilinox responded:
        May 18, 2018 at 20:19

Oh wow ;3; thank you even more for taking the time to go through that effort to comment in English then!

Haha, I was just curious since I’m translating it from Japanese > English and so then wondering how a English > Spanish translation (of a translation) would do. And if Japanese > Spanish might actually be closer to the original. Or if English and Spanish, sharing latin roots and the alphabet, have an easier time crossing translations than an Asian language. Or if there’s just more examples / people correcting English > Spanish translations in google translate than more niche ones like Japanese > Spanish/German/French, etc etc.

    Yes, finally~ Takeda’s army!!

I open this route first when I begin playing the game, and yeah so exciting~!!! >w<
But… Masanobu, why you said "dirty men"? Somehow I didn't get the point about that… But anything else, I'm truly enjoy it, even I don't really when Masakage's being rude in this chapter…

As always, thank you for your hard works~!! ^^

Heheh, I’m actually starting to wonder which one is more popular, Uesugi or Takeda. I should hold another poll just out of curiosity |D;; because IIRC the first poll I did matched Uesugi vs Date to help me decide and people chose Date. But then when I started doing Uesugi, there were some people waiting for Takeda, hmm. It’d be great if everyone was spread out among the armies though~

LOL. Masakage is pretty rude but he’s so boyish and young that I can easily brush it aside. Like he just sounds like a boy who’s like “ew girl cooties!” when he says things like that, I find it hard to get angry. It’s not like Kanetsugu who just makes me want to punch him LOL (or Takakage who makes me contemplate murder).

Oopsies, I mentioned earlier that I may have translated Masanobu’s line a bit poorly if it’s getting lost in translation haha but he just meant like dirty sweaty stinky men. Nothing about like them being lewd or minds-in-the-gutter or anything.

Shingen definitely reminds me a of big brother figure. So endearing! Wait did I use the word endearing properly? Either way I look forward to more of the Takeda Army story ^_^ I am so curious about the whole Masanobu Awakening scene. I youtube’d it and unfortunately I can only understand so much of it… that it probably wasn’t worth me watching it haha… I should have continued studying Japanese…

      Ilinox responded:
      May 17, 2018 at 22:35

He does! I’m torn between seeing him as an older brother or seeing him as a love interest for MC LOL. Like at times he’s just such an older bro? But then he does something that makes your heart skip and it’s like “my feelings for you are complicated, sir!!”. You did use the word endearing properly, no worries!

Ehehe, I’m trying to figure out where a good place to put their awakening scenes is and I think it’ll happen pretty soon since there’s nothing to wait for (unlike Uesugi) except for maybe Masakage warming up to the heroine…

Yes, Takeda! They always give me a nice family-like feeling, from the very beginning.I kinda like the first chapters of every army. The story is still so innocent and you get some character introduction chapters which is nice. I can’t help but feel less interested the more the story progresses… but the beginnings are always nice.

I always got a feeling of a married couple with Shingen and the heroine somehow :>

Anyways, I feel like storming into a battle is a strange decision for someone who just heard the word “war” and was surprised about it. I’d at least have waited and offered my help later on. Then again, Shingen’s heroine seems to like running into places and being helpful (haha, Shingen, let’s see you sweat this time instead of Kenshin)

      Ilinox responded:
      May 17, 2018 at 22:34

I’m with you on that nice and chill family/brotherly band these guys give. Sanada and Date are also really family-like but Sanada is more like rampaging puppies and Date is like “we’re bonded together because our leader is doing crazy shit!!” hahaha. Oh, that’s true I like the beginnings for the peaceful stuff too though I love it when everyone gets drawn into the world stage and things get complicated too. It’s kinda sad to start at the beginning again and watch her get people’s trust though ;w; things like that make me hesitant to replay games (especially RPGs because no one remembers the epic journey you went through).

OMG!! SAME!! LOL. I blame it on Shingen’s casual skinship. He’s so chill with like laying a hand on her shoulder, hugging her, having her sit on his lap (!?!?) but it’s so cuteeee cause he makes it so natural, without being like in your face seduction attempt a la Hideyoshi.

Haha, same same. I forgot how the beginnings for every army went so reading this again and I’m surprised by how gungho she is from the start at being useful to them like Uesugi’s heroine… I guess she’s just that grateful for Shingen rescuing her from a tree? It’s pretty audacious of her to assume she can just jump straight into the medical corps to help them too. I’d be a little hesitant to bandage wounds and stitch people up out of nowhere. How do you even know you can stomach seeing wounds!?

      >:) It’s Shingen’s turn to eat his mocking words to Kenshin about how the heroine made him weak, muaha! I feel like Takeda’s heroine ran around less than Uesugi’s and is a bit more serious / given a serious role. But I guess in Shingen’s route we have more than enough drama with his illness.

Oh yes!! Finally :D Thanks for Takeda chapters!

I feel relax reading their conversation though sometimes it’s a serious situation and they talk with stress, I find it warm and feeling deep bond among them, like brothers/friends. Welcome to the shonen world XD I like all of them :)

There’s no bully here, a peaceful route for our poor MC. Imm happy for her haha

      Ilinox responded:
      May 17, 2018 at 20:01

Woo! New army and new men to fall for– //bricked.

“Welcome to the shonen world” is such a good description of Takeda’s route LOL they’re such manly buddies but all warm and genuine, huh. I feel that way with them too and I’m sure it’s greatly influenced by how personable Shingen is \o/ he’s just such a nice guy and so at ease.

Nobunaga can be pretty aloof at times, Hideyoshi too sneaky to trust, Masamune too tsun, and Kenshin is so princely he kinda seems to maintain a very proper distance from MC. But Shingen is just like older brother / parental / just warm, hahah. I was really touched when I heard he checked on her at night while she was sleeping (I mean yeah you could argue that’s a bit creepy but it just reminded me of how my mother used to do that).

I think liking someone like Shingen is perfectly normal! I’m not kidding when I say he’s an ideal mature boyfriend because he’s so warm and protective and considerate, heehee. Now if you said something like wanting to date Masamune or Nobunaga then I might raise my eyebrows at your taste (but no judgment coming from here because I have notable villain biases– LOL).

Like his character song, Shingen is VICTORIOUS! 😁
I still keep laughing at Yuzuki’s GRAND ENTRANCE why you have to remind me Nobuharu hahaha 😂
Oh by the way, why dirty men 😂
And I was like Masatoyo too when it comes to weak presence so that’s why I love him so much 😘

Masatoyo’s weak presence, he has a potential to become an assasin.

        May 17, 2018 at 15:13

Honestly, I LOVE MC’s entrance in Takeda’s route the best because it’s hilarious and what an impression |D;; just jump straight down into Shingen’s arms–.

Haha, I think I messed up the translation there but he meant dirty in the literal sense! Like ugly sweaty dirt-covered men!

I’m surprised she doesn’t automatically give Nobunaga and Kenshin the -sama honorific because if anything those two seem to deserve it the most? But yeah it’s cute she asked Shingen and he’s so whatever about it.

@waterinegirl: I’ve always thought the same about Masatoyo!! Perfect assassin material, but his nature is way too soft and kind for it :’D and then me thinking about what a great assassin Masatoyo would be makes me feel guilty again about being paired with Uesugi LOL. Grooming people into roles they’re not suited for is bad… no matter how tempting it is to take advantage of their natural skills–

Oh my. Finally, the Takeda. Shingen’s not my type though. lol.
Now if only Masanobu get rid of that ridiculous hat…

[MASANOBU]: “Hey now, you two. It’s pitiful to be stared at so hard by dirty men. Especially you, Masakage. It’s not polite to glare.”

Lol, Masanobu, calling your friends “dirty men” is not polite too. XD

[TAKEDA ARMY SOLDIER]: “I’ve been temporarily entrusted with it. Lately, there aren’t enough people. We’re so busy I’d even borrow the help of a cat… Alright, I’m done preparing. Let’s go.”

Borrowing the help of a cat… I wonder how cat will react around werewolves? Hmm.
Now that I think about it, in a world of vampires, werewolves, and talking tanuki… can’t we have, at least, a talking cat too…? (*_*)

      Ilinox responded:
      May 17, 2018 at 08:07

Haha, that’s what I thought at first for Shingen and Kenshin when I first played the game |D no interest at all but they grew on me. I’m curious to see if your opinion will change for Shingen because he has such a charismatic masculine charm /o\.

HONESTLY MASANOBU’S HAT!! It ruins what would otherwise be an amazing design lmao and I’m sure I’ve said this a thousand times but it reminds me of a soccer mom and I… the only saving grace is that he loses it in his awakened form, phew.

Seeing the comments, I think I failed at translating this time around |D;;; Masanobu’s line about them being dirty was pretty literal. Like he meant dirty sweaty men, which is what Hideyoshi meant too at the very beginning of his route if you still remember when he wanted to bring the heroine to war because she was a cute girl and he was tired of seeing men LOL.

Ahaha, considering Masamune loves cats and pets them without any problems it doesn’t seem like natural animals react differently to werewolves? The phrase they’re using there basically means they’re very short-handed but I just find the idiom so cute that I tried to keep it T__T like you’re so short-handed you’d even borrow the paw of a cat to help out (which sounds so ridiculous lmao but that’s how desperately you need help).

        yukihime03 said:
        May 17, 2018 at 17:30

Hmm. I’m not really into masculine guy though… I’m more into people like Mitsuhide, Kojuurou, Masanobu… (do you see the pattern…?)
At best, I may think of Shingen as a good onii-san…? (brotherzone //bricked)

When I first saw that hat in the anime, I was like “WTH??”
Whenever Masanobu appears, I want to close my eyes and just hear his voice. lol

Still, it’s not nice to call your friends like that even if it’s literal. |D
But then again, you can only get away with saying things like that when you’re friends…

        Ilinox responded:
        May 17, 2018 at 19:53

Haha, the L4 as Reggie named them |D;; but oh man thanks for reminding me that I wanted to translate a 2* card story with those 4 because it’s so good (what with them all being considered the darkness that helps the light in the armies shine…) *hi-fives for sharing the same taste in men*.

I didn’t think I’d fall so hard for Shingen either though but there’s just something so naturally warm about him that I WAS WEAK. He’s the perfect older brother n_n (but also more if you want– //bricked).

LOL HONESTLY. I don’t think they had those kind of visors back then Masanobu…

        yukihime03 said:

I’ll be waiting… most excitedly… for that translation. lol

Well… we’ll see. I’ve seen a few of his types before and they don’t appeal to me. But then again, there are characters that I never thought I would like but then I fell so hard, they actually became my top favorites, beating all the others that are actually my type. lol
        We’ll see, we’ll see.

LOL Clearly we’re going to have a running gag here with Masatoyo and his “weak prescence.” Shingen never really caught my attention, so hopefully main story makes me change my opinion on him :’D. And I can’t see Masanobu the same after knowing his seiyuu also voices Charlemagne from Fate:

      yukihime03 said:

@seiggy: Masatoyo reminds me of Kellam/Callum from Fire Emblem Awakening… but I can say Masatoyo has it better. *wince*

I’m actually excited that Masanobu is voiced by Kimura Ryouhei though? lol. I’m biased.
He really can voice a wide range of characters, though. He can do innocent, carefree, gentlemanly, flirty, tortured, to murderous. XD

He’s also voices Izuminokami Kanesada from Touken Ranbu, Hans Lee from Devil’s Line (cmiiw), Sorey from Tales of Zestiria, and Kise Ryota from Kuroko no Basuke

@seiggy: I gotta admit that at first glance I thought Kenshin was going to be boringly uptight (but the angst and conflict won me over) and Shingen was going to be the hotblooded shounen hero (but the slight tragedy and amazingly mature response to everything won me over) haha. I hope he changes your mind ;D he’s so effortlessly… masculine (?).

LOL my first thought for Masatoyo was Kuroko from KnB but yeah :’)) it’s going to be a forever gag. And yet they never forget about him when they need him most during the battlefield so, huh.

I don’t have a problem with him voicing Masanobu, I’m always reminded of the Servants who share the same seiyuu LOL. Like how Shizamaki can voice Mitsuhide who’s calm and soothing but also the super chuuni Arjuna and Dantes. Or how Motonari and Ozymandias have Koyasu.

@leohikarusora: Kane-san is my fav out of all Kimura’s characters. Glad to see his name mentioned. XD

@Ili: Sorry, but I don’t know about Dear Vocalist, so… I’m not exactly forgetting. //bricked

@seiggy: yeah, I know what you mean. When you know a particular seiyuu, you sometimes can’t quite forget their voice as a particular character… like, I still wanna laugh every time I hear Morikawa’s voice, because either I remember him as Sephiroth (and thus, One-Winged Angel suddenly plays in my head) or as Panda Mama in Shirokuma Cafe (which is just… err).
If you haven’t listened to the latter, please do:

I just… can’t take Nobunaga seriously anymore. LMAO.

IMO, if they can voice very different characters convincingly, it means that they are great seiyuu… which why I think Morikawa and Koyasu are pretty amazing, haha. They have extremely versatile voices.
