SNB Takeda ~ Chapter 1.3 ~

Chapter 1: Even a Chance Meeting is Due to Fate

In a hurry, everyone inside the castle were preparing for the next battle.

In a world where battles were around the corner, she started to look for something she could be even a little help with, but…

Chapter 1.3

[MASAKAGE]: “Come on, come on, come on! I am Yamagata Masakage of the Takeda Army! Those who want to die, come at me!”

It was as if Masakage-san himself became a spear, plunging forward while cutting a swath through the enemies, and Shingen-san and I could see that even from the main camp.

[YUZUKI]: “Masakage-san is amazing.”

[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. He’s got what it takes to call himself the vanguard. Now then, Nobuharu-san shouldn’t be able to be silent after being shown that.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Like I thought, Masakage! However, it’d be a pity to let him carry off with all the good parts.”

[MASANOBU]: “That’s true. In that case, shall we go as well.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Aa. But before that–“

[MASANOBU]: “… Uesugi’s ambush, huh. It appears that Kenshin has predicted our movements over here.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Hehehe… HAHAHAHA! This is why I can’t stop fighting!”

[NOBUHARU]: “Now, let’s do this, warriors of Uesugi! I am the immortal, Baba Nobuharu!”

[NOBUHARU]: “Those who wish to die– you may come straight at me!”

[YUZUKI]: “Nobuharu-san’s voice… is amazing. I can hear it even here.”

[SHINGEN]: “Seriously, I’m glad that person’s a comrade. If I met him on the battlefield, even I’d be terrified of that voice.”

Shingen-san said that so jokingly that I forgot this place was a battlefield and giggled without realizing it.

[YUZUKI]: (If the Takeda Army wins with this momentum…)

[MASATOYO]: “… Pardon me for interrupting your conversation. Shingen-sama, there are movements in Uesugi’s camp.”

Shingen-san’s eyes turned serious all of a sudden at the report from Masatoyo-san.

[SHINGEN]: “What’s going on?”

[MASATOYO]: “Kenshin has separated from the main camp, and appears to be heading somewhere.”

[SHINGEN]: “… I see. Maybe he saw that this was a good opportunity.”

I didn’t know what was going on, but Shingen-san grinned widely at Masatoyo-san’s report.

[SHINGEN]: “Great. We should move to the next stage soon too.”

[YUZUKI]: “Next stage?”

[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. –Masatoyo, sorry but could you send a runner to Nobuharu-sa–… kgh!!”

[YUZUKI]: “… Shingen-san?”

When I tilted my head at how his words suddenly cut off–

[SHINGEN]: “Gugh…!”

[YUZUKI]: “Ah…”

For an instant I didn’t understand what had happened. Shingen-san fell to a knee like he was in pain and there was a large amount of blood on his hand and around his feet–

[MASATOYO]: “Shingen-sama! Are you alright!?”

I came back to myself at Masatoyo-san’s voice.

[YUZUKI]: “S-Shingen-san!”

When I crouched to peer at his face, Shingen-san seemed to be grimacing in pain and frustration.

[SHINGEN]: “Aah… shit. Having it come at this time. —*cough cough*!”

[MASATOYO]: “… Shingen-sama, please do not push yourself too hard.”

[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. I’m the one who understands my own body best.”

[SHINGEN]: “So, Masatoyo, sorry to ask but… could you call Masanobu over for a bit.”

[MASATOYO]: “Understood. Please leave the rest to us.”

[YUZUKI]: “U-Um! I’m going to call for someone–“

Thinking that there should be soldiers who were standing by outside the camp, I tried to run but–

[SHINGEN]: “–… NO!”

Shingen-san stopped me with a great force.

[SHINGEN]: “Don’t call… anyone… it’ll affect… the morale of the army.”

[SHINGEN]: “Besides… didn’t I tell you not to… leave my side?”

[YUZUKI]: “B-But…”

[SHINGEN]: “My bad… I’ve made you… look uneasy again. But right now… let me rest… just for a little… while.”

[YUZUKI]: “Ah!!”

[YUZUKI]: (He’s falling!!)

There was no way I could support Shingen-san. But still, thinking that I could at least do something about his head, I held him and slipped in between him and the ground.

[YUZUKI]: “Ow!!”

I clumsily fell onto my backside but more importantly right now–

[SHINGEN]: “Urgh…”

[YUZUKI]: “Shingen-san, please hold on!… Shingen-san!!!”

(T/N: Konishi’s voice acting for Shingen’s cough is so good T__T but so sad because he sounds like he’s really coughing up a lungand then all the lines after that have him sounding so tired. I’M REMINDED OF MY MORIKUBOU!OKITA TRAUMA IN HAKUOUKI. Also another person who coughed super well. And Tattsun’s Okita in Wasurenagusa… LOL. All these coughing men.

On a side note, I love Nobuharu’s title for some reason and it’s a real thing too! He earned the title “The Immortal of Mino” or “The Immortal Mino Ogre” haha.)

First impression of Nobuharu: loud bro who wants to fight everyone
Impression after ch.10: actually a big gentle giant, but definitely loud bro who wants to fight everyone

this game changed me as a person. I would never have liked all them bros in Takeda, especially someone like Nobuharu, but I do and I just can’t find one thing I don’t like about any one them. welp Masakage kinda ticks me off with his stereotypically “virgin” reactions but he’s not that bad. he’s like a little kid who wanted to grow up as fast as he can.

For some odd reason, only Nobuharu seems to like me in the Takeda army (I pull a lot of his cards but no one else…) and that was pretty much how my impressions went too.

First Impression: Oh, another brawn over brain and he’s probably gonna just be a warmonger and love fighting and be insensitive to women.
Later: WOW HE IS SO MATURE? PERFECT BRO TO SHINGEN. He’s such a teddy bear ;w; I just want him to be surrounded by animals all day.

      I probably mentioned this way back but a big reason as to why SNB is still going strong with me is that it made me care about all the characters, which is surprising. Because I’m pretty clear about my own tastes and in most mobages I only fixate on 1-3 characters out of like 15 and then I get so disappointed or annoyed at reading stories and getting cards for people I couldn’t care less about. And yet, SNB managed to make me appreciate them all even the ones I normally don’t give a second look at |D;;

LOL yeah I’m with you on Masakage. It’s so funny to see him get flustered though.

wow I think you just described the exact reason why I like Senbura so much. I am very much the same; most otome & mobage games I played there would always be just a few of them that I care about. but this game is completely different. I love all them dudes. and their card stories really made a much better impression on their characteristics rather than ruined them like in the other games I played. I’m so thankful of the writers for this game. hopefully this game will continue for a long time, though tbh I don’t really want their story to be with an indefinite ending. I think I’d be content if Yuzuki would choose to stay in Shinga instead of going back home, with her taking Himemiko’s role, Shinga was united under her, and actual peace between the warring clans finally achieved.

Haha, I remember when I was playing i7 (whose story does seem awesome) but I… actually don’t really like the main cast? I’m a super big Trigger fan but trying to collect only 3 character cards among the 7 main cast + random dudes in the company made me lose interest ;;;;;.

A potential detraction from SNB is that the fighting or actual gameplay isn’t very involving but I actually don’t have that much time to play mobages either, haha, so the ability to get into a battle and then skip it is more than enough for me |D;; just give me my story and ikemen.

I’d really like an ending to the story too ;;; which makes me curious how they’re going to do it because you’d think they’d want it to go for a while to squeeze as much money as they can. But I feel like, with the setup they have now, if they go on infinitely they’ll also lose whatever consumer base they have so… FGO seems to be doing good with having a story that actually moves on and leads to a second season, so I’m hoping SNB follows a similar model in not being afraid to conclude a story arc.

*whispers* give me actual consequences to all this warfare too please. i want deaths–

Fufufu big teddy bear😁😍 I agree SNB makes me love all the characters I wish I could play the game… I read your about me page ilinox, and it’s really made me want to study Japanese again. The last lesson I took was back in year 10… a loooonnnnggg time ago… How did you go about it? TAFE? Online? I read a lot of manga and the groups are always looking for translators. I feel that I would enjoy that.

        Ilinox responded:
        May 20, 2018 at 11:17

I, er, don’t know what TAFE is |D;; is than an Australian thing? Cause we certainly don’t have that here in Canada. But yeah I self-studied online :’)) it’s been like 6 years or so since I started on and off because I mostly learned through only playing otome games, oops.

I wrote a post a long time back about my journey in starting here on Otome Jikan and I think I might have replied to some comments in further detail in my FAQ (or About Me page, they’re all spread around LOL).

But essentially I started by reading Tae Kim’s guide to get an understanding of grammar structures and things. Memorized the hiragana and katakana chart. And then started drilling kanji into my head through Wanikani which I reached the last level at. While I was doing all this I was also playing otome games and being strict on myself to look up any words I didn’t know. It really helped to have a blog at this point because I felt the pressure to be accurate if I was blogging about something so I couldn’t slack off on skipping words I didn’t know LOL (that and it forced me to complete all the games I played instead of only playing a single route I used to do).

It also helped to have friends or people who knew more Japanese than I did because I’d run into grammar constructions that I didn’t understand and looking them up didn’t help either because the explanations would be in Japanese the majority of the time, haha, but having them clarify those constructions helped. Or you could just get something like an intermediate Japanese language books to teach you tons of grammar constructions.

Haha, I always encourage anyone interested in a language or translating to give it a shot :D practice makes perfect after all and if you’re doing it on your own time then there’s no pressure for the speed at which you’re learning. I really enjoy the intricacies in translating and how it’s almost like writing too since you have to exercise your mind in working around non-literal translations or things that can’t be conveyed word-for-word and, through that experience, you start learning about the culture of the language you’re studying which is neat!

In the end the only advice I really have is to just be patient and easy on yourself, no need to feel rushed, but also be a little strict in looking up words you don’t know. And most importantly, immerse yourself in your target language whether it be through reading, watching subbed dramas, talk shows, listening to music or cds, etc etc, and have fun!

Agree, I was really impressed everytime shingen coughs. I mean it really sounds like he’s tired and extremely sick and almost collapsed. The sounds of breathing after cough is really amazing though I secretly think it’s pretty sexy here but imagine that it may took all of his breaths while performing this scene really hurt me :/

Poor man, he looks physically strong and healthy but he’s sick inside T T

LMAO I don’t know if I found them sexy but I understand what you’re getting at. It sounds very realistic especially with how they pant and sound out of breath after that coughing fit. Makes me wonder if they did it in one take and then the sound engineer would single the lines out to attach them to each line in the game. If it wasn’t done in a single take then mega props to the seiyuu for being able to link it together like that.

T__T I keep comparing Shingen to a flame (probably intentional with his color theme and song and everything) but it’s like he burns so bright but only for a short time, SOBS.

Oh no, now you mention it, and I remembered it again… But beside that, yeah Konishi-san and Morikubou-san is really amazing to make such a voice, and it really makes me hurt to listening the coughing voice…

Back to the topic, please hang in there, Shingen!! The most important is your healthy!! :'(

As always, thank you for your hard works~!! ^^

It’s so real sounding and makes me worried for their throat but also yEAH instantly worried about the character so much too. Like it’s not even dry coughs, some of them manage to produce that like wet sound as if they’re really coughing hard.

Heehee, next part is the part that everyone’s probably been waiting for and expecting in every army’s ch1 :’D awakening time!!

yeah these guys are amazing. they can potray any role. and we’ll be hearing more shingen’s coughing in more chapters to come. |(DAMN IT YUZUKI JUST HEAL HIM ALREADY) and im not bother hearing more coughs in the future.

Every single time Shingen falls into a coughing fit I just get so sad. I know he got stuck with the “tragic hero” title but oh man do they ever twist the knife in you with that. He burns so brightly with his ambitions and goals yet his life is hanging on a thin line lmao.

Unfortunately, like Masatoyo said, I don’t think even MC can heal him completely (though I’ve wondered about that! Like repeated drinking of her Himemiko-boosted blood!? no!?).
