SNB Takeda ~ Chapter 6.4 ~

Chapter 6: Man Proposes, God Disposes

Organizing their preparations, they headed towards the border zone with Uesugi at last.

Their opponent was their longtime rival “Uesugi Kenshin”, one that could not be dealt with by ordinary means, and Takeda was to challenge them seriously but… what direction would the match go…!?

Chapter 6.4

[SHINGEN]: “… Masakage, Masatoyo, I’m trusting this girl with you two.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Yes, Shingen-sama.”

[MASATOYO]: “We will believe in you and wait as well, Shingen-sama.”

[SHINGEN]: “Aa…”

Shingen-san patted them on their shoulders but his eyes were quietly facing me.

[SHINGEN]: “I’ll definitely return home alive.”

[YUZUKI]: “… Yes. I’ll be waiting.”

[MASAKAGE]: “… Alright, let’s go.”

[YUZUKI]: “Mm.”

[MASANOBU]: “Please be sure to be careful.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Putting aside Uesugi soldiers, yakuma won’t choose a time or place.”

[YUZUKI]: “Right, we’ll be careful.”

Nodding, I started walking together with Masakage-kun and Masatoyo-san.

[YUZUKI]: (Shingen-san… will he really be okay…)

Even at this late hour anxieties welled up and made my feet heavy. But Shingen-san promised me.

[YUZUKI]: (I can’t always lean on Shingen-san. I need to have the courage to believe and wait.)

When I glanced back, Shingen-san was staring directly at me.

[YUZUKI]: (It’ll be okay. Shingen-san will definitely come home. To Takeda territory and to us. That’s why I have to say at least that–!)

Right before I stepped out the old castle, I turned around to Shingen-san and the others and shouted.

[YUZUKI]: “Shingen-san! Masanobu-san! Nobuharu-san!… Take care and see you soon!!”

[SHINGEN]: “……!!”

It was strange for the side that was seeing the other off to say that they’ll see them soon, but I just couldn’t help but say that.

So that, when they returned, they could say “I’m home”.

[SHINGEN]: “Yeah! We’ll be right back!”

[YUZUKI]: (Please… let me see that smile again…)

I didn’t know if there was something like a god in this world, but I continued to pray to any who would listen.

[SHINGEN]: “… If everything’s gone well, those guys should be in Takeda lands around now.”

[MASANOBU]: “That’s right. Are you worried over whether or not she’s done as you ordered?”

[SHINGEN]: “No, this time should be good. After all, she told us she’ll be seeing us soon.”

[NOBUHARU]: “Hum. We need to return home then. All of us.”

[SHINGEN]: “Hah, naturally!”

[MASANOBU]: “…… Shingen-sama, they’ve come.”

[SHINGEN]: “What’s this, that’s quite a small number of people.”

[KENSHIN]: “You as well; your numbers have decreased more so than yesterday. In addition… there are no troops in ambush.”

[SHINGEN]: “Well, yeah. Because it looks like if we make noise here, those yakuma things might come out.”

[SHINGEN]: “It’ll be annoying for our match to be pushed back like yesterday. I’ve sent everyone apart from us home.”

[KENSHIN]: “…… Is that how much you desire to battle me?”

[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. I have to go beyond you in order to unify the country. –Uesugi Kenshin, the war god!”

[SHINGEN]: “You guys, don’t lift a hand.”

[KENSHIN]: “…… Kagemochi.”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “… Yes, I understand.”

[SHINGEN]: “……”

[KENSHIN]: “……”

[SHINGEN]: “Now! Takeda Shingen has arrived!”

Having left the castle, I returned to Takeda territory with the others and all the soldiers.

[MASAKAGE]: “Alright. If we’re this far, those Uesugi guys shouldn’t chase us.”

[MASATOYO]: “Although, it appears that they haven’t pursued us at all.”

[YUZUKI]: (Right now, Shingen-san and Kenshin-san are…)

[MASATOYO]: “…… Worried?”

[YUZUKI]: “… Mhm.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Hey! No way Shingen-sama’s gonna lose!”

[MASAKAGE]: “Ever since he’s been taking those pills you make, the number of times he’s had fits has lowered noticeably.”

[YUZUKI]: “Right… thank you, Masakage-kun, for cheering me up.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Wha, i-it’s not like I meant to do that…”

[MASATOYO]: “You’re red.”

[MASAKAGE]: “Shut up!”

[YUZUKI]: “…… Shingen-san.”

I wanted him to return home quickly. Thinking that, his name naturally slipped out.

[SHINGEN]: “HAAAAAARGH!”

[KENSHIN]: “Haah!”

[SHINGEN]: “Tsk! As usual it’s hard to see any openings.”

[KENSHIN]: “Those words I will return to you as is. Those movements even as you suffer from a disease… you are a monster.”

[SHINGEN]: “…… What, you’ve noticed?”

[KENSHIN]: “I heard that those who belong with you were searching for medicinal herbs within my territory.”

[KENSHIN]: “I also know the kind of medicinal herb they were searching for. And about the disease that herb is necessary for… Why does a man such as you…”

[SHINGEN]: “Who knows. Inheritance issues alone are a problem, so I think I’m just burdened by bothersome things.”

[SHINGEN]: “But, well, that has nothing to do with our match. Am I wrong?”

[KENSHIN]: “Indeed. It is a trifle detail in this battle.”

[SHINGEN]: “Then let’s keep going. I’m sorry to say I have someone waiting for me.”

[KENSHIN]: “Oh. Do you think you can return home alive after crossing blades with me?”

[SHINGEN]: “I’ll return home. For sure!”

Several days had passed since I returned home to Takeda’s castle. Shingen-san and the others hadn’t returned yet.

[IMARI]: “… You haven’t opened it yet, huh.”

The box I got from that old castle was in front of Imari-kun, who came to visit me.

[YUZUKI]: “I want to open it after Shingen-san and the others come home… Sorry, even though we’ve finally obtained a clue to Himemiko-sama.”

[IMARI]: “No, the sacred treasure is in your hands like this, so that’s more than enough for now.”

Saying that, Imari-kun left again to gather information on Himemiko-sama.

And then, as if changing places with him–

[MASAKAGE]: “Hey! Huge problem!”

[YUZUKI]: “Wah! Masakage-kun, what’s wrong!? What happened?”

[MASAKAGE]: “–ack.”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh…?”

[MASAKAGE]: “They’ve come back!”

(T/N: I love this trope so much but I don’t feel like I captured it all in English LOL. Basically, there’s a set phrase you use when you send someone off, when they leave, and when they return home and you greet them. It’s used a ton in otome games because it’s really cute and romantic :’) but yeah… I don’t think it’s emphasized on or used commonly in English media.)

Hmm. I quite like how this part is written.
Takeda route has a strong married couple vibe. |D

[SHINGEN]: “Who knows. Inheritance issues alone are a problem, so I think I’m just burdened by bothersome things.”

hmm, now I wonder how Shingen sets up his will. I mean, he’s the closest to death among the lords, but he has no heir…?

RIGHT? After all these scenes, I kind of laugh when Takeda tries to present the other men and emphasize their good points and cute scenes with them and the heroine because I’m like “Um, excuse me? She’s totally married to Shingen now.” Wait until you see the next scene ;D.

From what it seems throughout history, it usually goes to their closest retainer if they don’t have any living heirs ;;;; but in general the original army breaks down at their lord’s death. For example, after Nobunaga died it was Hideyoshi who took up the rest of his ambition but he had to beat down a whole bunch of old retainers of Nobunaga LOL (I think Katsuie was one of them?).

The thing is, in actual history, they all have living heirs??? lol
But most of the power went to the generals anyway…
Well, they were the shogunate and not the royal family after all, so I suppose it’s not that surprising the power went to the strongest men…

When you read this and you panic. Then I remember that I am on Takeda’s route, we only review chapter 6.

Haha, that’s true! You would worry except we know that Shingen is protected by plot armor since we’re in Takeda |D;; but, on my first go through, I just thought Masakage was excited they were coming back and didn’t think much more. I had full confidence in Shingen :’)) or at least that he’d draw a tie.

And now I’m dying again because Masakage didn’t tell us what happened. =,(

Cliffhangers!! Ehehe, there’s another super sweet scene coming up though :)).

Hmm… I think you can use “be careful”, but I guess it’s more agreeable if use “see you soon” since I think “itterasai” means “I’m off”, so I don’t know which word should use… ^^’a

Back to topic. In this part,
Kenshin : “Those words I will return to you as is. Those movements even as you suffer from a disease… you are a monster.”
Wait. Did I just hear you calling your rival “monster”? You’re too cruel to say that to Shingen…

Ehmm… I hope you can get the new Shigezane *4, I like to know the story, but yeah I think lady luck didn’t in my side this time too… TvT)

Thank you for your hard works, ili~!!

It’s rough because that phrase can be translated however you want fitting the situation, haha, meanwhile you just gotta say it in Japanese and everyone will understand all the nuances. You have it a bit mixed up there |D;; it’s “ittekimasu” that’s the “I’m off” part and what you say when you’re heading out. “Itterasshai” is for the person seeing you out/off. And then there’s the “tadaima” (i’m home) and “okaeri” (welcome home) exchange when they come back.

I was surprised to hear Kenshin say that too, though it can also be taken as a grudging respect like “what are you, some kind of monster? to move like that while being ill”.

I wasn’t blessed by any luck in this event gacha :’)) just got Mitsuhide and 2* Motonari and that’s it. I’m back to the sad lonely pulls, hahaha.

        Akh, you’re right, it’s ittekimasu, not itterasai… I’m sorry for using wrong words… ==”a

Ah, I see… I hope in next gacha you can get what you want, ili. But back again, don’t be a greedy, it’s for your own good…

I think he used “monster” not like something negative or an insult, but as if recognizing someone with superhuman (or superwerewolf) capacities.

i remember this part of the chapter where everyone panicked. and i was like. hey yuzuki didnt do anything this time.

[SHINGEN]: “Who knows. Inheritance issues alone are a problem, so I think I’m just burdened by bothersome things.”

i try searching in the net for some answers and people assume tubercolosis or cancer to be the cause. anyone, pls correct me if im wrong. my knowledge in world histroy is not great.

If you’re asking about how he died, I don’t think there’s any accurate accounts. Some say pneumonia, some say an old wound, etc etc. As far as I know though he didn’t actually have a disease like tuberculosis or cancer ;;;;.
