Chapter 7: Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained
In order to obtain even more clues to Himemiko, Shingen decided to battle again with Uesugi.
The commanders of Takeda begin training for their battle with Uesugi, but!?
We returned to the castle and immediately reported on the kidnapping just now to Shingen-san.
[SHINGEN]: “The perpetrator was a townsman. But the one who ordered it was the werewolf with an eyepatch, huh…”
[MASATOYO]: “Yes. Moreover, he appeared to know about the sacred treasure we brought back from Uesugi territory as well.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Um. Does everyone have a guess as to who that man was?”
.[MASANOBU]: “Mm. It’s most likely… Date Masamune.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Yeah. A werewolf with an eyepatch and that unordinary atmosphere… there’s no mistake.”
[YUZUKI]: (By Date Masamune they meant that famous Date Masamune, right… Then, does that mean another tough enemy has appeared?)
[YUZUKI]: (Shingen-san is quiet and has been looking down… I wonder what’s wrong?)
[NOBUHARU]: “… Shingen, we have no choice now that it’s come to this. We cannot disperse our forces in the end, wouldn’t you say?”
[MASAKAGE]: “Huh? What do you mean? I’m not following along at all…”
Shingen-san gave a rare sigh and then raised his head to look at me.
[SHINGEN]: “… Actually, you see, I was planning to leave you behind in the castle for this next expedition.”
[SHINGEN]: “But, now knowing you’re being targeted, I can’t leave you behind.”
[NOBUHARU]: “Aa. Our next battle with Uesugi will be an all-out war. We cannot divide our forces to guard you.”
[YUZUKI]: (Shingen-san and the others were thinking about that. With this, I get to go along with them but…)
[YUZUKI]: (In the end, when I’m there, no one can move as they like. I’ve become a burden…)
That night, I couldn’t sleep at all and so I went up to Shingen-san’s room.
[YUZUKI]: (… There’s no lights. Is he sleeping already?)
I gave up and tried to return to my room, but then Shingen-san and Masanobu-san came from that direction.
[SHINGEN]: “Hm? What’s wrong. Is there something you need from me?”
[YUZUKI]: “Ah… Shingen-san. You haven’t gone to sleep yet.”
[SHINGEN]: “Yeah, I was having a war meeting with Masanobu, but… looks like I’m going to need alcohol again.”
[SHINGEN]: “Masnaobu, sorry but could I ask you to prepare some?”
[MASANOBU]: “Yes, I understand. Both of you, please wait in the room.”
[MASANOBU]: “Shingen-sama, I brought sweet sake. I thought she would be able to drink this too.”
[YUZUKI]: “T-Thank you.”
[MASANOBU]: “You’re welcome. Now then, I shall be outside.”
[SHINGEN]: “No, I don’t mind if you go back to your ro–“
[MASANOBU]: “No, I will be standing by outside.”
Masanobu-san was showing his usual smile but somehow I could feel a pressure. And that seemed to be the case for Shingen-san too.
[SHINGEN]: “… I’m not gonna do anything weird. Hurry up and leave the room.”
I took a sip and then another sip of the warm sweet sake. I felt my feelings soften just a little.
[SHINGEN]: “… So, what’s wrong. Are you troubled by something again? Since you’e such a serious person.”
[YUZUKI]: “I-I’m sorry. You listened to me the other time too.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Um, I felt better, but I feel like it doesn’t change how I’m a burden in the end.”
But Shingen-san gave a large shake of his head.
[SHINGEN]: “No, you’re wrong. You’re not a burden.”
[YUZUKI]: “But I’ve… just been saved over and over and over again…!”
[SHINGEN]: “That’s fine. Saving, being saved, that’s what comrades do.”
[SHINGEN]: “You seem to be thinking you’re just one-sidedly being indebted to us, but we feel indebted to you too.”
[YUZUKI]: “You and the others…? But I can’t do anything…”
[SHINGEN]: “No, that’s not true. You’ve been helpful to us. You make medicine and you give us your blood– right?”
[SHINGEN]: “That’s why I want to protect you and return you to your old world.”
[SHINGEN]: “You should hold up your head and proudly ask us to save you.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Shingen-san.”
Shingen-san suddenly gave me a small smile.
[SHINGEN]: “We’ll definitely protect you… so, I’d like you to come with us on this expedition.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Thank you so much. I’ll be in your care!”
I nodded deeply and decided this in my heart.
[YUZUKI]: (I’m going to stop losing my way. In the future, no matter what dangerous things happen, I’m going to move forward with everyone in the Takeda army…!)
(T/N: There’s going to be a delay because I need to collect the rest of Shingen’s potion scenes and translate them, then 2* card with all our favorite lady killers, and then we need to jump to Sanada to join them up with everyone else.)
