Chapter 2: Determination, the Strength to Protect!

Brought along by Imari, she went to search for a clue at the place “Himemiko” was supposed to have visited.

In the middle of that, she caught a glimpse of Yukimura’s inner character from the talks of the people and their lives.

Chapter 2.2

[YAKUMA]: “GUAAARGH!”

[YUZUKI]: “No way!? Y-Yakuma–!?”

[YUZUKI]: (It’s coming this way! I have to r-run…!)

.[YUZUKI]: “Haa… haa…”

[YUZUKI]: (W-What do I do… at this rate, it’ll catch up immediately…)

[YUZUKI]: (Ah! At the base of that tree… there’s a large hole. If I hide there, it might go past me…! But if I’m found…)

[YAKUMA]: “GUAAARGH!”

[YUZUKI]: (Uu… it doesn’t look like there’s time to hesitate. It’s all or nothing!)

[YUZUKI]: (… Ei!)

[YUZUKI]: (Haa… haa…)

[YUZUKI]: (I-It’s coming close… please… pass by.)

[YUZUKI]: (I-It doesn’t seem like I’ve been noticed yet but…)

[YUZUKI]: “–!”

[YUZUKI]: (C-Crap… I stepped on a branch…)

[YAKUMA]: “GUAAARGH!”

[YUZUKI]: (It noticed me…! No way… I’m going to die like thi–)

[???]: “HAAAAGH!”

[YAKUMA]: “Guo… orgh…”

[YUKIMURA]: “Are you alright!?”

[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yukimura-san. Why are you here…”

[YUKIMURA]: “I heard from Kamanosuke. That you were walking in the forest at night.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Kamanosuke didn’t seem very concerned but I had a bad feeling… and ran out of the castle.”

[YUKIMURA]: “I’m glad you aren’t hurt but yakuma appear in this area like this.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Never ever try to do something like going out alone, okay?”

[YUZUKI]: (Yukimura-san is really angry… He was really worried about me…)

[YUZUKI]: (I want to tell Yukimura-san that I was looking for clues to Himemiko-sama, but… I can’t tell him that Imari-kun told me…)

[YUZUKI]: “I’m sorry, Yukimura-san. I…”

[YUKIMURA]: “Ah, no… I’m sorry too. Don’t look so sad.”

[YUKIMURA]: “See, I’m the one… who said I’d protect you, yet you went through this scary experience.”

[YUKIMURA]: “I wish I could have ran over here sooner… I’m really sorry.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Um, as a sign that we’ve made up… how about we pinky swear?”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh? Pinky swear…?”

[YUKIMURA]: “Yep. I did it a lot as a kid after fighting with my brother as a sign of reconciliation.”

[YUKIMURA]: “We hook our pinkies around each other like this–“

[YUZUKI]: (Wah… h-he just suddenly…)

[YUKIMURA]: “I promise you.”

[YUKIMURA]: “I don’t have large powers like the generals of other forces, and I have little experience, and I might not be dependable.”

[YUKIMURA]: “However. I won’t ever let you be in danger again… I’ll absolutely protect you.”

[YUKIMURA]: “I’m afraid this is who I am, but can you rely on me?”

[YUZUKI]: “Y-Yes… of course.”

[YUZUKI]: (Uu… I know there’s no deeper meaning with Yukimura-san, but…)

[YUKIMURA]: “Huh? What’s wrong? Your face is red. Are you alright?”

[YUZUKI]: “I-It’s nothing…!”

[YUKIMURA]: “Really? That’s good then… but don’t push yourself too hard, okay?”

[YUKIMURA]: “Oh! The night’s dawned before we knew it.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Then we should return to the castle now. Once we’re home, you should rest the entire day today.”

[YUZUKI]: “Okay, I will.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Ah, actually, I’m reminded…”

[YUKIMURA]: “I’m going to the town tomorrow, so how about we go together? I could have asked Kamanosuke but… um, s-see! He has no sense of direction.”

[YUKIMURA]: “I just so happened to want to see the people in the town, so I was going to go by myself. But then I thought I could show you around…”

[YUZUKI]: “Okay. I wanted to look around the town slowly too.”

[YUKIMURA]: “R-Really! Thanks! Then, while we’re there, let’s eat some sweets together.”

[YUKIMURA]: “There’s a delicious sweets shop there. Of course, I’ll treat you so look forward to it!”

Oh jeez, I’m getting SO MUCH shoujo manga vibes…… Yukimura is too… I don’t know what word to use… When he’s asking her to go into town with him…… SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me, Yukimura seems like the generation after with both some of Kenshin and Shingen’s characteristics: Kenshin’s attitude of helping anyone that need help and Shingen’s friendliness attitude and the warm air around him

Oh well, you nearly succeed Yuzuki… if the branch wasn’t there…… I’m really sad with how barely the heroine can save her own skin and how someone else always comes in but she IS in a different world and time period altogether……

    Thanks for the translation!

Innocent, cute, high school romance– LOL that’s how I like to describe Sanada’s route with this Yukimura focus. Oh, that’s a good comparison!! I’ve joked around with friends that among the noble/justice guys it really seems like it goes Yukimura > Kenshin > Motonari as some kind of evolution. But yeah Yukimura does seem like a blend between Kenshin and Shingen without the wariness and struggles both of them have gone through (especially Kenshin and trying to kill his personal desires).

The pinky promise makes me remember how jealous Hideyoshi is upon seeing them in the anime so Yukimura is considered as a big threat 😂

LMAO. Fortunately, in this universe, Hideyoshi has no idea MC exists yet :’))

Aww… I wanted Yuzuki to save herself… but it seems that would not happen -like ever- on an otome. =/

Anyway, I’m glad she was saved bye sweet Yuki instead of the pups. It’s nice to see that, he invites her out, even though he gets embarrassed. It’s so cute. =3

It’s sad that it’s so rare that on occasions when heroines DO save themselves it actually becomes something super noteworthy to mention LOL. I think she’s gotten saved in every route but Date is the only one where she actually got away the first time by herself (and with Imari’s help).

Yukimura is suuuuuuuuch a high school boy LOL it’s the cutest YA novel here in this route.

Did we wander into high school shoujo somehow…? I feel like I’m reading about a high school boy asking out a girl classmate for a date. |D

RIGHT!? I wasn’t kidding when I said Sanada is gonna throw everyone into a romanticized high school life LOL. Sanada is just full of super young wolves.

Akh, finally I can come back after spend whole 2 days for my jobs… Kinda tired but this made my mood got up~

Hmm… Sometimes I agree that Nobuyuki should become Sanada’s general, but sometimes I agree that Yukimura was a great general even he was too cute (both appearance and behaviors/attitude)… And, iirc… Sanada’s actually from Takeda’s right? (Just like Toyotomi and Oda) Maybe that’s why Yukimura’s is kinda similar with Shingen’s, I think…

Can’t wait the next part~ Thank you for your hard works~!!

Aw, glad that these posts act as a mini-recharge station for you (๑•ᴗ•๑).

Although I know that Sanada has its own charms I can’t help but see them as like a baby version of Takeda and Uesugi combined LOL because Yukimura has that justice attitude and helping anyone who is in trouble like Kenshin, but without Kenshin’s angst and experience and conflicts. And then he has the charm and friendliness of Shingen, but without the maturity and experience again so he’s blushing and stuttering like a high school boy LOL.

    [YUZUKI]: “Huh? Pinky swear…?”

unfortunately for me promises are meant to be broken. i’ll rather not make promises.

[YUKIMURA]: “I don’t have large powers like the generals of other forces, and I have little experience, and I might not be dependable.”
[YUKIMURA]: “I’m afraid this is who I am, but can you rely on me?”

i’ll rather have nobuyuki as leader of sanada. yukimura is too sweet. im worried about his future. if i were to choose which is the worst fight between these two:
kenshin vs oda or yukimura vs oda.
yukimura’s too much sweetness will not win against oda’s ruthlessness

Hahaha, I actually think Yukimura is perfect as the leader because he’s so charismatic and like genuine that he can attract a lot of people into wanting to follow his ideals and everything. People like Nobuyuki need to remain in the shadows with their schemes |D;; or just be the adviser to the leader because they do best with the logistics of everything. Kinda like Kagemochi to Kenshin.

But, oh boy, yeah. I’m actually confident that Kenshin is experienced enough (and he’s a war god) to stand up against the vampire armies. But like Yukimura said about Sanada being inexperienced and young… Nobunaga would chew him up |D.

    YUZUKI]: (C-Crap… I stepped on a branch…)

*slaps forehead* You done goofed up now Yuzuki

YUKIMURA]: “Never ever try to do something like going out alone, okay?”

YUKIMURA]: “There’s a delicious sweets shop there. Of course, I’ll treat you so look forward to it!”

OH SHOOT Shingen-san is that you lol Yukimura-san and Shingen-san are quite similar. Welp time to reread Takeda’s chapters.

She’s not doing so well in Sanada, haha, all the heroines in the werewolf armies just throw themselves right into danger now that I think about it. Meanwhile, the vampires set everything up on their end |D (an interesting contrast).

LOL well they did come from the same army so maybe they influenced each other. I think Yukimura hero worships Shingen or something.
