Chapter 8: Beliefs, Sticking to Obligation and Chivalry!

The Sanada army moved their army forward seeking clues to Himemiko.

Yukimura and the others wished to avoid pointless battles but in front of them the Takeda Army fell into a predicament…!

Chapter 8.1

[NOBUYUKI]: “… Where the light pointed was the zone between the Takeda territory and Uesugi territory.”

Nobuyuki-san began slowly explaining the journey to the clue with a contemplative expression.

[NOBUYUKI]: “It is dangerous with both armies for us to step into their territory unreservedly. However, at least, it would be better to detour through Takeda.”

[YUKIMURA]: “… That’s true. If it’s Takeda territory we’ll know the terrain and safe paths and it’s easy to plan our military arrangements.”

[YUZUKI]: (…? Meaning they don’t know about Uesugi but they know about Takeda…?)

While I thought it was strange I listened to the explanation of the journey.

[NOBUYUKI]: “Still, the possibility that we will come across the Takeda army is not little. We must be cautious.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Yeah… If a battle can’t be avoided… everyone, you understand, right?”

Yukimura-kun looked around at everyone’s faces and raised his fist high.

[YUKIMURA]: “… We’ll be sure to protect Yuzuki!”

[THE THREE]: “OORAH!”

Everyone joined Yukimura-kun and raised their fists.

[IMARI]: “Me too! Me too, I’ll try my best to be a protector!”

Imari-kun said this while jumping up and down.

[YUZUKI]: (Everyone…!)

I felt my chest warm at that sight.

After finally passing a steep mountain path Yukimura-kun stopped.

[YUKIMURA]: “… Alright, how about we look for a camp site around here today.”

[NOBUYUKI]: “You’re right. Our destination is still far away and it would be better to rest.”

[YUZUKI]: (Phew… I’m glad…)

Yukimura-kun, who was looking around the area, squinted his eyes for some reason as if he was deeply moved.

[YUZUKI]: (…? I wonder what’s wrong?)

Yukimura-kun noticed my gaze when I looked at him curiously and abruptly smiled.

[YUKIMURA]: “It’s a bit nostalgic as it’s been a while since I last came to this area…”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh, then… you’ve come here before?”

[YUKIMURA]: “… Yeah. We, the Sanada army, were originally–“

[YUKIMURA]: “… members of the Takeda army.”

[YUZUKI]: “Wha…!”

[YUKIMURA]: “But for various reasons we broke company with the Takeda army.”

[YUZUKI]: (…! Everyone in Sanada has that past…)

[YUKIMURA]: “Shingen-sama’s and my way of thinking were too different.”

Yukimura-kun continued talking, somewhat sadly.

[YUKIMURA]: “Shingen-sama is assertive about war.”

[YUKIMURA]: “The Sanada army will fight if it comes down to it, but… I think it’s best to end things without fighting.”

[YUKIMURA]: “If I stayed with the militant Shingen-sama then my comrades might be put in danger.”

[YUZUKI]: “I… see…”

[YUKIMURA]: “Besides, each time there’s a battle, we have to leave Sanada territory.”

[YUKIMURA]: “When that happens there’s a possibility other warlords will target the territory.”

[YUKIMURA]: “Even now I still… respect Shingen-sama. But–“

[YUKIMURA]: “I… decided that everyone who lives in Sanada territory to be more important.”

[YUKIMURA]: “… That’s why I left the Takeda army.”

[YUZUKI]: (Whether to serve Shingen-san or the peace of Sanada territory– Yukimura-kun chose to protect everyone in Sanada…)

[YUKIMURA]: “Even though it was a selfish separation, Shingen-sama laughed saying “It’s just like you” and allowed it.”

[YUKIMURA]: “That’s why I won’t forget this favor I’ve received from Shingen-sama.”

Saying that, he laughed a little embarrassed.

However–.

[YUKIMURA]: “…!”

Suddenly, he grabbed his spear while looking around the area with sharp eyes.

[YUZUKI]: “…!? Yukimura-kun, what’s–“

[NOBUYUKI]: “Someone’s here.”

Nobuyuki-san and the other three looked around the surroundings with severe faces.

[YUZUKI]: (Huh, someone…!?)

A sudden tension ran between us all.

[YUKIMURA]: “… Brother, take everyone and run.”

[NOBUYUKI]: “Understood.”

[YUZUKI]: “What, but…!”

[YUKIMURA]: “–I’m trusting you with her!”

Yukimura-kun leapt upon the bushes alone after having said just that.

[YUKIMURA]: “Haagh!!”

But–.

[YUKIMURA]: “What…!”

That attack, which was swung at a terrifying speed, was caught easily.

[???]: “Geez. Buying time alone? Your rashness hasn’t changed.”

[YUKIMURA]: “…? This voice… Shingen-sama!?”

[YUZUKI]: (Huh… then that’s the Takeda army’s general… Takeda Shingen!?)

[SHINGEN]: “It’s been a long time guys.”

Shingen-san faced us with a smile that seemed to be friendly.

However, behind Shingen-san, soldiers with drawn weapons were seen. It wasn’t a situation where one could be careless.

[YUKIMURA]: “……”

Maybe Yukimura-kun thought the same since he kept his weapon drawn.

[SHINGEN]: “Glad to see you look healthy.”

[SHINGEN]: “… But this is Takeda’s land. What are you guys, from another army, doing?”

[YUKIMURA]: “… I can’t reveal my purpose.”

[YUKIMURA]: “But I’m not doing something that will wrong Takeda…!”

[SHINGEN]: “Ohh… you’re telling me to believe the words of someone who entered my territory without permission?”

[YUKIMURA]: “That’s… I can only ask you to believe me… If that’s impossible then–“

Yukimura-kun looked directly up at Shingen-san.

[YUKIMURA]: “At least… please overlook everyone but me…!”

On stepping lands, Takeda is ok because I believe Shingen! Hehehe jk, but still be cautious. Meanwhile in Uesugi is more dangerous especially cross paths with Kagemochi, I never ever forget what he did in Date and those lines on Takeda that you feel like you’re on a horror movie with mix of comedy.

Haha, that’s so true. For once we see two armies meeting each other rather nicely |D especially with Takeda and Sanada’s previous bonds. I’m just remembering the really tense meeting between Oda and Toyotomi too. And yeah LOL Kagemochi… oh boy.

    Out of topic forwhile.
Are you going to translate takeda route as well? Alternating between sanada and takeda?

Err… Ili’s already translated the Takeda one, but kinda forgot until which chapter. You can search it it Menu > Sengoku Night Blood, you can also find another army’s story

If you’re asking about the concurrent events of Ch8 then I was considering it but ultimately decided that I’ll finish with Sanada, then Takeda, then Uesugi, then Mouri, and THEN finally the second season. Reason being that I remembered Sanada was kind of removed from the whole Takeda/Uesugi confrontation so I don’t want to prematurely spoil that by alternating between Sanada and Takeda.

If Shingen’s militant, then what do you call Oda….?
I wonder if something happened to trigger the separation? The way he says “then my comrades might be put in danger” seems like something serious happened that harmed/may potentially harm someone he cared about.

Damn it, Yukimura. I hate this kind of stunt.

Merciless, cold-blooded, ruthless Demon King of the Sixth Heaven? |D Ooh, I actually didn’t read it that way and took it more like the longer he stayed with Shingen the more chances he’d put his friends in danger because he’d have to obey Shingen’s orders. That’d be interesting if there was an event in the past where the two disagreed on a course of action though!

(Is it bad that I love this chapter because we get to see Shingen again and how cool he is? LOL).

It’s probably because you’d need to give a hella good reason for why you’re going to go around someone’s territory but Yukimura can’t reveal what they’re doing because it’s connected to the heroine and Himemiko-sama. So without being able to give a good reason there’d be no point in asking for permission and tipping them off. Instead, they planned to just sneak in and out (especially because they have intimate knowledge of Takeda’s lands).
