Chapter 8: Beliefs, Sticking to Obligation and Chivalry!
The Sanada army moved their army forward seeking clues to Himemiko.
Yukimura and the others wished to avoid pointless battles but in front of them the Takeda Army fell into a predicament…!
[YUKIMURA]: “At least… please overlook everyone but me…!”
A snapping tension dominated the area and an air flowed where it wouldn’t be strange if a battle were to break out.
[SHINGEN]: “Ha ha ha! That part really hasn’t changed.”
[SHINGEN]: “You guys, put away your weapons. These guys aren’t enemies.”
Shingen-san ordered his soldiers and then also lowered his sword easily.
[YUKIMURA]: “You believe me…?”
[SHINGEN]: “You wouldn’t pick a fight with me and expose your soldiers to danger, right?”
[YUKIMURA]: “… Shingen-sama!”
Shingen-san smiled at Yukimura-kun whose face brightened.
[SHINGEN]: “… Well?”
Saying that, Shingen-san’s gaze suddenly stopped on me.
[SHINGEN]: “Who is that girl? It doesn’t feel like she’s for battle?”
Yukimura-kun thought a little–.
[YUKIMURA]: “Our precious… companion.”
He said that decisively.
Nobuyuki-san and Sasuke-kun and the others also nodded as if saying he was right.
[SHINGEN]: “Haha. Seems like she’s really special from those serious eyes you all have.”
And then he looked at Yukimura-kun with kind eyes.
[SHINGEN]: “Then… be sure to protect her.”
[YUKIMURA]: “Yes, of course…!”
Yukimura-kun accepted Shingen-san’s gaze and also nodded deeply.
[SHINGEN]: “Also, stop talking to me politely. You can also drop the honorific.”
[SHINGEN]: “You’re already a general of a fine army so stop being modest like a vassal.”
[YUKIMURA]: “…! But to be like that to you, Shingen-sama–“
[SHINGEN]: “Hey now, I’m not saying this just for you. It’s also for them.”
[SHINGEN]: “Using honorifics for me is like admitting you’re lesser.”
[SHINGEN]: “Do you think vassals want to follow such an unreliable general?”
Yukimura-kun had an expression of sudden realization.
[SHINGEN]: “Didn’t you “want to protect everyone”?”
[YUKIMURA]: “… You’re right. I want to protect everyone, so–“
[YUKIMURA]: “Shingen, from now on, we’ll face each other equally as generals!”
[SHINGEN]: “Ou, that’s the spirit.”
[SHINGEN]: “… Nobuyuki, you’re the same too, alright. Don’t deprecate yourself.”
[NOBUYUKI]: “I understand… I’ll also be like Yukimura.”
Shingen-san nodded as if he was saying good. And then as he tried to walk away, he suddenly turned back.
[SHINGEN]: “… Ah, that’s right. If you’re making camp then come to our place. We have lots of sake and food so don’t hold back.”
Shingen-san said that and then left quickly.
[NOBUYUKI]: “… Can you come here?”
When everyone went to send off Shingen-san, I was called by Nobuyuki-san.
[NOBUYUKI]: “That man… Shingen-san isn’t a man to make light of. It’s best you don’t get close.”
[YUZUKI]: “Huh, why?”
[NOBUYUKI]: “The Takeda army doesn’t seem like it wants to fight us right now, but–“
[NOBUYUKI]: “If they knew about your power… they might come to steal it.”
[YUKIMURA]: “That’s right. If the Takeda army were to try and steal you… it’s frustrating but right now we can’t oppose them.”
[YUKIMURA]: “So, we should avoid risks that’ll make your power be known.”
[NOBUYUKI]: “Yes. For that I’d like you not to leave our side.”
[YUZUKI]: “Huh? You mean…”
[YUZUKI]: (He can’t mean that we’ll constantly be together…!?)
[YUKIMURA]: “… Night then.”
[YUZUKI]: “Mm… good night.”
[YUZUKI]: (… To think I really ended up having to sleep right beside Yukimura-kun…)
Unable to calm down, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep somehow.
But I greeted the morning, my heart still racing next to Yukimura-kun.
[YUZUKI]: (I b-barely slept…)
When I opened my eyes, feeling a lack of sleep, I made eye contact with Yukimura-kun who already started dressing.
[YUKIMURA]: “… Ah, you’re up? Morning.”
[YUZUKI]: “M… morning.”
Even though I got up I was conscious of my pounding heart and looked around the area with awkward movements.
[YUKIMURA]: “It looks like the Takeda army has started preparing to march already.”
[YUZUKI]: “Oh, then should we set out soon too? I’ll prepare quickly–“
[YUKIMURA]: “No. Before that there’s something that needs to be done.”
Yukimura-kun said that with a serious face and, pulling my hand, took me deep into the forest.
