Chapter 9: All or Nothing
In the moment a predicament was escaped, the large army of Takeda and Sanada were soon approaching.
Kenshin, who was concerned about the castle town becoming a battlefield, chose to confront them in an overwhelmingly unfavorable situation…!
[KENSHIN]: “… So, the Takeda army and Sanada army has made an alliance.”
[KAGEIE]: “…? What do you mean?”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “He means that Shingen, having learned that we allied with Date, assembled a force that could oppose that.”
[KANETSUGU]: “Che… in the end, our alliance wasn’t established. Can’t they not come?”
[YUZUKI]: (No way… For the Takeda army and Sanada army to attack at the same time…)
A hopeless uneasiness welled up from the depths of my heart.
[KAGEKATSU]: “… It’ll be okay.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “No matter what happens, we’ll protect you.”
Kagekatsu-kun looked straight at me and said that.
[KANETSUGU]: “… Jeez, do you think we can’t let one person like you escape safely?”
[YUZUKI]: “No…! To be the only one to run—“
When I tried to speak, Kanetsugu-san turned a severe gaze at me.
[KANETSUGU]: “Even if you’re here, you’ll just be a burden.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Despite the way he is speaking, Kanetsugu is also concerned about you.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “We wish to avoid you falling into Takeda’s hands again by all means.”
Kagemochi-san, who calmly smoothed over Kanetsugu-san’s words, looked at me hard with his brows furrowed.
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Even in knowing about the power of your blood makes Takeda quite a dangerous existence.”
[YUZUKI]: (He’s right… I know. I know… but…)
[KAGEIE]: “Don’t worry! Even if Takeda and Sanada have bundled up, they aren’t Uesugi’s enemies!
[KAGEIE]: “I’ll kick away all of them together!”
Kageie-san, listening beside us, said that with his usual attitude.
However, I could see a tension that couldn’t be hidden on the face that said those assertive words.
[YUZUKI]: (In order to let me run, he’s talking about it like it’s nothing…)
[YUZUKI]: (If I were to be caught by the Takeda army and my blood sucked, then Kenshin-san and the others will be driven to a corner…)
I understood that well enough in my head, but to leave everyone even though it might become a dangerous battle… when I thought that, my heart felt like it would be crushed.
[KAGEMOCHI]: “… Well then, about what to do from here—“
That discussion began to start while I was still troubled.
[KENSHIN]: “Kagekatsu, Kanetsugu, I entrust this girl to you two. I want you to evacuate to a safe location.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “… Understood. Please leave it to us.”
[KANETSUGU]: “We will accomplish Kenshin-sama’s orders without fail.”
[KAGEIE]: “Kenshin-sama! What’ll we do about Takeda and Sanada? Will we kick them down with just us?”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Kageie. The soldiers we deployed in our Uesugi army were to locate this girl and to clean up after the fire in the castle town.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “To battle in a state where war preparations have not been arranged is…”
[KENSHIN]: “No, that concern is unneeded. I sent orders to the soldiers through a messenger.”
[KENSHIN]: “The Uesugi army is to gather in the direction a light is released— was the message.”
[YUZUKI]: “Um… is it not possible to return to Uesugi territory and avoid a battle…!?”
[KENSHIN]: “… Yes. There are still flames on the other side. If we can see them from here, then it is likely that they can see us.”
[KENSHIN]: “If we were to retreat in this situation, Shingen and his men would surely chase.”
[KENSHIN]: “In that case, the castle town will become a battlefield and a great chaos may occur for the people…”
[KAGEIE]: “Then, we’re…!”
[KENSHIN]: “Correct. From here, we will advance and confront the Takeda and Sanada army…!”
