Chapter 10: A Thousand Mixed Complications
The commanders are shaken by the order, announced suddenly from Kenshin, to invade the Oda and Toyotomi territories.
What is Kenshin’s real intention when he remains silent and does not try to speak…?
[YUZUKI]: “… Kenshin-san, why did you hide this?”
[KAGEKATSU]: “Was there a reason… you couldn’t tell it to us…?”
.[KENSHIN]: “If Himemiko is in Mouri then you would no longer have a reason to stay in Uesugi… was what I thought.”
[KENSHIN]: “When I thought on how you might leave Uesugi… I couldn’t show this seal case to you.”
[KENSHIN]: “The moment I imagined you leaving I… didn’t want to accept that.”
[YUZUKI]: “… No matter where Himemiko-sama is, I won’t be leaving Uesugi.”
[YUZUKI]: “Kenshin-san, didn’t you promise me? That you’d definitely return me home.”
[YUZUKI]: “I… believe in that promise.”
[KENSHIN]: “I see…”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes… because I treasure my bonds with you, Kenshin-san, and Kagekatsu-kun, and everyone else in the Uesugi army.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “Your bonds with us…”
I gave Kenshin-san and Kagekatsu-kun a smile each.
[YUZUKI]: “Until the moment I return home one day, I want to stay with everyone in Uesugi.”
[KENSHIN]: “I understand… I promise then. That, just like how you believe in me… I will believe in you.”
[KENSHIN]: “And that as long as you are in Shinga, the Uesugi clan will be with you and will protect you.”
Kagekatsu-kun also gave a clear nod at Kenshin-san’s words.
[YUZUKI]: “… Yes, thank you. Kenshin-san, Kagekatsu-kun…!”
Before long the sliding screen opened and Kagemochi-san peered in.
[KAGEMOCHI]: “It appears that the rebellion went well.”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes! Thanks to you lending your help, Kagemochi-san.”
[IMARI]: “I brought everyone else too!”
Following that, Kageie-san and Kanetsugu-san also entered the room.
[KENSHIN]: “I would like to apologize for inspiring needless doubts in everyone… I am sorry.”
[KENSHIN]: “Please let me explain where the justice is in this war.”
And then Kenshin-san held out the seal case in front of everyone who was gathered.
After everyone received Kenshin-san’s explanation their expressions became clear.
However, Kenshin-san had a complicated look as he stared at the seal case.
[YUZUKI]: “… What’s wrong?”
[KENSHIN]: “When I think about it… it is because of this seal case that I did something quite immature.”
[KENSHIN]: “It feels like I will remember today’s events each time I see this.”
[YUZUKI]: “Then why don’t we shut it somewhere so you won’t see it?”
[IMARI]: “Ah, in that case, let’s put it in here!”
Imari-kun opened the lid on the teakettle he carried with a pop.
[YUZUKI]: “…? Huh, Imari-kun, this is— my cell phone…!?”
Inside the teakettle was the cell phone which I thought I had lost.
[YUZUKI]: “Were you the one who found it, Imari-kun…?”
[IMARI]: “Huh…!? Ah, s-sorry!”
[IMARI]: “This small box belongs to you!?”
Imari-kun turned to me and dropped his head deeply.
[YUZUKI]: “Erm… w-why are you apologizing?”
[IMARI]: “This was something I picked up the day you came to Shinga. I didn’t think it was your belonging…”
[IMARI]: “Because it was shiny and pretty I thought to treasure it and so I put it in my teakettle.”
[IMARI]: “Uuu… It’s something I’ve never seen before, so I should have suspected at least once that it was your belonging…”
[YUZUKI]: “No, it’s more than enough that you found it. Thank you for holding onto it carefully until now.”
I nodded with a smile and then took the cell phone.
When I did the screen began to shine dazzlingly, even though the battery should have long ran out.
Eventually the light rose into a beautiful woman in the empty air.
[???]: “… I have long waited to be able to speak with you.”
It was a very mysterious voice that seemed to echo directly in my head.
[YUZUKI]: “H-Himemiko-sama!? You’re…!?”
[HIMEMIKO]: “Yes. I apologize from the bottom of my heart for the late explanation.”
[IMARI]: “Uu… I’m sorry. If I had shown this box earlier to her…”
[HIMEMIKO]: “It is of no concern. You have done well to find this girl. Thank you.”
[IMARI]: “Uuuu… Himemiko-sama…”
Himemiko-sama looked kindly at Imari-kun, who was crying, and then turned her gaze to me.
[HIMEMIKO]: “I am truly sorry… to have summoned you to this Shinga so abruptly.”
[YUZUKI]: “No… But why…?”
[HIMEMIKO]: “Yes… Because there is something I can only ask you…”
[YUZUKI]: “Only me…?”
[HIMEMIKO]: “I would like you to save Shinga with your power…”
When I tried to ask in more detail Himemiko-sama’s figure gradually began to disappear.
[HIMEMIKO]: “Please, I beg of you…! With your blood… save… Shinga—“
[IMARI]: “Ah… Himemiko-sama! HIMEMIKO-SAMA—!!”
Imari-kun’s shout was in vain and Himemiko-sama’s figure disappeared completely.
[YUZUKI]: “She’s g-gone…”
[IMARI]: “Himemiko-sama… uuu…”
[KAGEKATSU]: “Cheer up… I’m sure you’ll see her again…”
[IMARI]: “Uu… that’s right… mm.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “I would like you to save Shinga… Himemiko said that, didn’t she…”
[YUZUKI]: (I’m the only one who can save Shinga…?)
[YUZUKI]: (I want to go home to my old world… but if it’s true that I’m the only one who can do this then…)
When I raised my head, feeling at a loss, Kagekatsu-kun was looking intently at me.
[YUZUKI]: “I… can’t believe that I can do something like save Shinga…”
[YUZUKI]: “But if what Himemiko-sama said was true then it means I can be of help to everyone, right? In that case… I’d like to try my best.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “But… your return home to your world will be…”
[YUZUKI]: “True… it might be delayed.”
[YUZUKI]: “But I… I’ve been saved a lot by everyone since I came here.”
[YUZUKI]: “So, I’d like to return the favor…!”
[KANETSUGU]: “Are you sure…?”
I showed a smile to everyone who was looking over here with worry.
[KENSHIN]: “For the sake of Shinga’s peace and for the sake of our justice—“
[KENSHIN]: “… Will you lend your strength?”
[YUZUKI]: “… Yes!”
I nodded without hesitation to Kenshin-san’s direct words.
