Chapter 3: Fate Comes Alive
Something was documented in ancient characters on a paper inside the box.
In the middle of the investigation as to whether something about Himemiko was recorded or not, the secret of the sacred treasures was told to her by Takakage.
We would go to find the stone slab— that was the decision Motonari-san handed down.
[MOTONARI]: “Before the other armies collude and come to Mouri lands, we will find the stone slab and obtain its information.”
[MOTONARI]: “The princess came to us at this period of time. And then we found information about a stone slab like this… I’m certain something is guiding us.”
.[MOTONARI]: “Presently, with the princess, we are able to get closer to clues on the sacred treasures and Himemiko in advance of the others.”
[MOTOHARU]: “But, for argument’s sake, if an army takes the initiative and invades while we are searching for the slab…”
Motonari-san listened to Motoharu-san’s words and answered by showing a bewitching smile.
[MOTONARI]: “Of course, there are countermeasures for that sake. To invade Mouri easily is alike to throwing away their own lives.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Well, there hasn’t been any news right now about them attacking.”
[MOTONARI]: “Be that as it may, we do not have the leisure to take things slow. Tomorrow, we will set out to search for the stone slab.”
[MOTONARI]: “It may not be found easily and I cannot say it will be a safe journey, however I vow that we will protect you without fail, princess.”
[MOTONARI]: “Thus— won’t you come together with us?”
[YUZUKI]: “Y-yes! Of course.”
I nodded with a smile at Motonari-san’s question.
I was told before that I’d search for the sacred treasures with them, but those words just now seemed to deepen the relationship between me and Motonari-san and the others and I was happy.
In preparation to search for the stone slab tomorrow we were to rest early, but I couldn’t sleep because of my nervousness and worries, and so I went to feel the night wind.
[YUZUKI]: (I wonder if things will go well tomorrow.)
[YUZUKI]: (I hope nothing happens, we reach the slab, and return home safely…)
[TAKAKAGE]: “Sitting in a place like this. Do you want to catch a cold? Even though you were just told to prepare for tomorrow, you’re an idiot, aren’t you.”
[YUZUKI]: “…! I’m sorry. I couldn’t really sleep, so…”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Hmmn? Because you’re afraid of going to look for the stone?”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Motonari-sama also said that the journey to the stone slab will be rough, no? And that it might not be easily found.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Were you afraid of that and ended up not being able to sleep?”
[TAKAKAGE]: “If that’s the case, then you don’t need to come. In any case, your only value is your blood.”
[YUZUKI]: (It’s true my only value is the power that rests in my blood, and I know I can’t help in a war…)
[YUZUKI]: (But if I don’t do anything here and give up then I definitely won’t be able to overcome what’s in the future…!)
My worries and nervousness were all blown away when I thought that.
[YUZUKI]: “… No. I’m going. Please let me go!”
[YUZUKI]: “You’re right, I might not be of any satisfactory help to everyone.”
[YUZUKI]: “But still, I don’t want to be the only one waiting in a safe place.”
[YUZUKI]: “For Mouri— if there’s something I can do, I want to do it!”
[TAKAKAGE]: “… Those words. I heard them clearly.”
Takakage-san smiled in a satisfied fashion and left.
[TAKAKAGE]: “Wah! Motoharu… you’re still awake, I see.”
[MOTOHARU]: “You too. You went to the stables at this time, huh.”
[MOTOHARU]: “Although you said harsh things, you made preparations for the march for her, right? So, you also have that kindness, huh.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Were you spying on us? That’s a bad hobby.”
[MOTOHARU]: “It’s not that I thought about doing it. I happened to see you two, so there was nothing to be done.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Hmmmm, I see.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “We’re bringing along a burden, so annoying things will happen even if I don’t want them to, no?”
[TAKAKAGE]: “That’s why I have to crush them in advance.”
[TAKAKAGE]: “Well, I’m returning to my room now. Night~”
[MOTOHARU]: “… I wonder where his true feelings lie. Since she arrived, is change manifesting in Takakage as well? Or…”
