SNB Uesugi ~ 2019 New Year ~

The Results of the Fortune Slips Are?

[KAGEKATSU]: “Even though it’s not New Year’s Day, there’s a lot of people who came for the first shrine visit of the new year.”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “Yes, according to reports, there were even more worshipers on New Year’s morning. Well, I believe there are many visitors who come for the fortune slips here.”

[KANETSUGU]: “Ah, the fortune slips that were said to be really harsh. I hear it’s to the point where people even wonder if a great blessing is in there.”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “That is precisely why they wish to try and pull a great blessing here, isn’t it.”

.[KAGEIE]: “I get fired up when it doesn’t come! Or something like that, huh. Since we’re here, and the worship is over, why don’t we try pulling fortune slips too?”

[KAGEKATSU]: “Mm, I want to try…”

[KANETSUGU]: “Then how about we all pull one and show our results?”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “Haha, why not. Is this agreeable, Kenshin-sama?”

[KENSHIN]: “That’s right. It is a good opportunity, so I shall pull one as well.”

[KAGEIE]: “Alright, everyone pulled one, huh! Now, let’s show ’em all at once. Ready, go!”

[KAGEKATSU]: “… Ah, it’s a ‘small blessing’. But it says I’ll find something I lost.”

[KANETSUGU]: “Mine’s a ‘small blessing’ too. Let’s see, don’t be in a hurry to fulfill your dreams… huh.”

[KAGEKATSU]: “Ah, in the love section the fortune ‘express your affections honestly’ is written.”

[KANETSUGU]: “Reading it out was unnecessary… Kageie-san, how was yours?”

[KAGEIE]: “……”

[KAGEKATSU]: “Kageie-san…?”

[KAGEIE]: “Ggh… the fortunes here really are harsh!!”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “From that reaction…”

[KAGEIE]: “It was a ‘curse’…”

[KANETSUGU]: “W-well, just because it’s a curse doesn’t mean everything is bad!”

[KENSHIN]: “Kageie, there’s no need to be so dejected. The importance in fortune slips isn’t whether it’s a blessing or curse, but the contents. Like you, I also pulled a ‘curse’. The written contents differ though.”

[KAGEIE]: “Kenshin-sama, you too!?”

[KENSHIN]: “Yes. Fortune slips proclaim things, so to speak. What you should beware of, and what you should do in the future to withdraw from a bad result in your fortunes.”

[KAGEKATSU]: “That’s true… mine says that if I catch a cold I’ll be sick for a long time, so I need to take care…”

[KAGEIE]: “I see… if you say it like that, this result might actually be good!”

[KAGEIE]: “That reminds me, we haven’t heard Kagemochi’s results yet! How was it?”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “I’m hesitant to show it after that conversation, but…”

[KAGEIE]: “It says… ‘great blessing’!?”

[KANETSUGU]: “Kagemochi-san’s luck is frightening to pull a great blessing here…”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “On the contrary, one could say that I might have used all my luck this year here. However, as Kenshin-sama has said, a good result means conversely that it is hard to see what I should be aware of—“

[KAGEKATSU]: “So, just because you have a good result you shouldn’t be negligent…?”

[KAGEMOCHI]: “Precisely. Ah, but… I do want to look forward to this ‘Love: Happiness will visit you’ section.”

The results of the fortune slips were things to think about for everyone, but please take care of the Uesugi army this year too♪

Kagemochi’s result isn’t surprising. He had a lot of admirers, (including myself), so…
    =P

    To the two comments below:
The Uesugi Army here are pulling the equivalent of paper lottery. Omikuji are basically paper fortunes you get at the shrine and ranges from getting really good blessing to really bad omens like divorce or something.
This shrine they’re at are reputed to be tough with their fortunes and so the guys are testing their luck in getting the nice stuff.
Of all people the one who had to get the best was Kagemochi lol. Poor Kageie though…

Thanks Cheek Rubsu for the explanation again! I totally forgot to link a wikipedia page about it like I normally do with things that people might not know |D but for some reason I was like “yeah, omikuji is common knowledge” derp.

RIP for Kageie and Kenshin, haha.

Kagekatsu: Oh boy this is interesting, I guess it’s not a thing that he lost, the thing that he lost is a part or within himself; believe in his self and smile. If there’s people who believe in him, he will find courage and go forward. And he must not compare himself to the other’s qualities. In his love section is…… He’s already like that?
Kanetsugu: Hmm……. I don’t know what his dreams are but I guess he likes the Uesugi is the one who unify the country so whenever he saw opportunity, he likes to rush things like in the first chapter about using her blood at war so that they don’t need to clash with Takeda anymore and getting sacred treasure to find Himemiko in other chapter.
Kageie: BAD AT HANDLING AND SOCIALIZING
    WOMEN.
    BAD AT MATHEMATICS.
    BAD AT SOLVING PROBLEMS.
Kenshin: For me it’s obvious, his tragic….. You know lol 😂 It keeps pulling him in a hard situations.
Kagemochi: He didn’t mention his luck but in his love section is difficult to read for me lol 😂 I can’t tell if it’s this 💘 or that one ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) what a lucky wolf! 😂
But in my 2nd thought, if that happiness comes arrive, he don’t have to live in the shadows anymore.

Oh, actually Kagekatsu was reading out the love section in Kanetsugu’s paper, which is why Kanetsugu is like “you didn’t have to read it out… e_e”. We can all see why Kanetsugu would get that LOL because he’s a mega-tsun.

Those are fun analyses though and I didn’t think that deeply into it, but you’re right in that it describes their character. I can’t think of any part where Kanetsugu was really desperate to achieve something (or driving himself into exhaustion trying to accomplish something) so yeah hmm I wonder if it just relates to his interaction with the heroine.

LOL unfortunately they don’t go into more detail about what their bad fortune/curses are. It could just be like “you’ll lose money this year” or something.

I think for Kagemochi he’s expecting ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) which is why he’s hoping it’ll come true LOL. We can only wait and see (except too bad the main story focuses on the general. Gotta work harder Kagemochi).

Hmm.. kinda confused honestly since what I’m understand is like this : Kagekatsu got paper which contains “Small fortune : you’ll find something that you lost”, something like that?

And Kagemochi got a “Good fortune” paper, kinda curious what kind of happiness that will come to him lol XD

Thank you for your hard works…

Yep. It’s like a more detailed paper you’d get from a fortune cookie |D except you get omikuji at shrines and then you can tie them onto trees for greater effect or keep it for good luck.

Oops, these are one of the times where I didn’t do a wikipedia link because I thought it was common knowledge. But like Cheek Rubsu said up there (thanks!) they’re pulling omikujis which are fortune slips at shrines that people can get for a small offering.
