Chapter 1: Intersecting Intentions

Nobunaga and the others marched on Mouri territory, having tied an alliance with Toyotomi and Date.

The intentions of each army, seeking clues on Himemiko, intersect complicatedly…

Chapter 1.2

Because the sun was setting by the time we marched close to Mouri lands, we ended up making camp.

[NOBUNAGA]: “We do not know when or if any things will occur. Do not drop your guard.”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Yes, my lord!”

[YUZUKI]: “… I wonder if the Toyotomi army and the Date army are camping somewhere right now too?”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Yes. The Toyotomi army is in a location slightly further ahead. The Date army is in a place not too far from us.”

.[KATSUIE]: “Hey, why’d Date come to us in the first place? Those guys are werewolves, so wouldn’t it be better for them to join with their fellow werewolves?”

[KATSUIE]: “Plus, wasn’t the Date army allied with the Uesugi army just a while ago?”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Around the time when our alliance with the Toyotomi army formed both allied forces of Uesugi and Date and Takeda and Sanada were just beginning to battle…”

[MITSUHIDE]: “But it seems that upon knowing of our alliance they suspended their war before a conclusion was reached. It’s said that the Uesugi army and the Takeda army decided to join hands on the spot.”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh!? To make an alliance on the spot with the person you fought… Do those things happen?”

[MITSUHIDE]: “It’s not impossible. I suppose that was their only measure.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Either they felt that much threat from our alliance or they wish to restrain us…”

[NAGAHIDE]: “It seems like the Sanada army was added to the alliance immediately. But only the Date army came to us. I can’t help but feel suspicious.”

[RANMARU]: “You’re right… Ah, that reminds me, apparently Date Masamune is quite contrary.”

[YUZUKI]: “Contrary?”

[RANMARU]: “It’s not certain because the information was gathered in a hurry, but… it seems he doesn’t follow the opinion of the majority and that he dares to use ways that normal people would avoid.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “From what I’ve observed of his words and behavior he seems to be quite sharp, along with his two retainers, and we should take maximum caution.”

[YUZUKI]: “I-is he that amazing?”

I couldn’t imagine it at all from just seeing him at a distance during the discussion of generals that happened at the beginning.

[NOBUNAGA]: “… The Date army falls behind others in terms of military force and territories. However, they are not hesitant to stand beside us and the Toyotomi army and fight for the sovereignty of the world.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “It appears the man possesses the capacity for at least that possibility. He cannot be dealt with by ordinary means.”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Yes. He’s a guy who sent that riddle-like letter and tried to test our abilities.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Heh. He is not lacking as an opponent.”

[YUZUKI]: (Wow, to have Nobunaga-san say this much about him…)

[MITSUHIDE]: “If anything is to happen the spies observing them will… I apologize, Nobunaga-sama, it seems the spies have returned and so I shall receive their reports.”

[YUZUKI]: “Um, I’ve been curious about this but… won’t it be a problem if our allies learn we sent spies on them…?”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Hn. This alliance is only a means to fulfill our objective, after all. There is no obligation to follow through.”

[YUZUKI]: “I… see…”

[NAGAHIDE]: “At any rate, we’re going to end up as enemies in the end… You’re really too nice.”

Despite Nagahide-san ‘s eyebrows drawing together, he called out to me in a voice that was gentler than usual.

[NAGAHIDE]: “In the first place, there’s a high possibility the Date army is aiming for clues on Himemiko.”

[YUZUKI]: “Huh…?”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Whether it’s troops or territories, Date is at a disadvantage on many things. That’s exactly why they’ll want Himemiko’s power which can awaken the Gekka Tribe’s original power more than any other…”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Meaning, it’ll be a bother if they learn about your blood. Don’t forget that, alright?”

[YUZUKI]: “Right. Thank you for worrying about me.”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Don’t get a big head. I’m telling you not to drag us down.”

[KATSUIE]: “That’s what you’re saying~.”

[RANMARU]: “You’re actually really worried, right?”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Shut up!”

[NOBUNAGA]: “In any event, after we invade Mouri territory, it will become a struggle for a clue on Himemiko. You being present will work advantageously for our army.”

[YUZUKI]: “Right…”

[YUZUKI]: (Even though our goal isn’t to defeat the Mouri army, I wonder if it’ll be okay to be so cautious with each other.)

During the time I thought about how, in the end, I couldn’t feel relieved with that, Mitsuhide returned in a hurry.

[MITSUHIDE]: “Nobunaga-sama, I have an urgent report…”

[NOBUNAGA]: “… So they came.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Yes. The allied forces of Uesugi, Takeda, and Sanada are closing in on us.”

[YUZUKI]: “Wha… you mean…”

[NAGAHIDE]: “Che. How annoying. We’re not supposed to get worn down before fighting the Mouri army…”

[RANMARU]: “… Nobunaga-sama.”

[NOBUNAGA]: “Sooner or later, they were opponents we would fight.”

[MITSUHIDE]: “Then…”

[NOBUNAGA]: “—Summon Hideyoshi and Masamune. We are opening a joint war council.”

No one is fooled anymore LOL not Yuzuki, not Ranmaru, and not Katsuie (the most dense out of all of them).
