Chapter 1: Imminent Danger
Looking for clues on Himemiko, Shingen and the others proceeded smoothly towards Mouri territory.
However, the scouts brought back “troubling information”…
Searching for clues on Himemiko-sama, we aimed for Mouri lands.
I thought back onto the past several days while riding on a horse controlled by Shingen-san.
[YUZUKI]: (A few days after we sent a messenger to Sanada and Uesugi we joined up. And then we began to advance towards Mouri lands immediately… A lot of things happened in a short time.)
[YUZUKI]: (But it’s going to get hard from here, huh. Because we’re going to Mouri’s territory where there are oni…)
The moment I psyched myself up to do my best I heard Shingen-san’s concerned voice from behind.
[SHINGEN]: “You’ve been zoned out since earlier. Are you tired?”
[YUZUKI]: “Ah… no. I’m thinking about Mouri territory. It’s pretty far, isn’t it.”
[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. But we should reach it soon.”
[YUZUKI]: “… I wonder if Oda and the other armies are already in Mouri lands?”
According to the scouts released to probe Oda and the other armies’ movements, they also seemed to be aiming for Mouri lands.
[YUZUKI]: (Moreover, they set out earlier than us. It can’t be that they’ve already…?)
[SHINGEN]: “Nah, I don’t think those guys have reached it yet. Right, Masanobu?”
[MASANOBU]: “Yes. Given the news from the scouts, no matter how many good horses they use, they shouldn’t have arrived at Mouri territory yet.”
[YUZUKI]: (I see… I’m relieved then.)
[MASAKAGE]: “Still, I didn’t think the reason Oda, Toyotomi, and Date tied an alliance was to enter Mouri lands.”
[NOBUHARU]: “I completely thought they did so to oppose us and was in high spirits, but…”
[MASATOYO]: “They’re aiming for information on Himemiko-sama, so either way we cannot leave them alone.”
[SHINGEN]: “If, by some chance, those guys get Himemiko-sama then it’ll become a huge problem.”
[MASANOBU]: “No matter what, we must obtain the information earlier than them, don’t we.”
[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. But our enemies are who they are so, most likely, we can’t avoid a war.”
[YUZUKI]: (That’ll go against Himemiko-sama’s wish…!)
[YUZUKI]: (If all the armies fight for information then we’ll be getting farther away from the peace Himemiko-sama wishes for…)
I looked down, worried about what I should do, and then—
[SHINGEN]: “Don’t worry.”
When I raised my head Shingen-san had a gentle smile.
[SHINGEN]: “I’ll never let those guys get their hands on Himemiko-sama’s clue.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Like Shingen-sama said ’cause we’re going to get it!”
[MASATOYO]: “And then we’ll ask Himemiko-sama to return you home to your family.”
[MASANOBU]: “Oda, Toyotomi, Date, and Mouri… there are many enemies, but we’ll be sure to accomplish this.”
[NOBUHARU]: “We promised to return you to your original world, after all. Us Takeda men don’t go back on our promises.”
[SHINGEN]: “So, you can just relax.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Okay. Thank you.”
I was honestly happy for everyone’s kindness. However, I also felt complicated.
[YUZUKI]: (If someone seeks Himemiko-sama, conflicts occur. What exactly am I supposed to do…)
After traveling for a while, we decided to take a break.
[SHINGEN]: “Be careful when you get off since it’s dangerous. —Here.”
Shingen-san, who got down from the horse first, held out a hand to me on the horse.
[YUZUKI]: “Th… thank you.”
[YUZUKI]: (I’m not used to riding a horse together either, but grabbing his hand to get down like this also makes me nervous…)
As I was thinking this Shingen-san tilted his head curiously.
[SHINGEN]: “What’s wrong, aren’t you going to get down— ah, that’s how it is.”
He might have felt my discomposure because Shingen-san withdrew his hand.
[YUZUKI]: (Oh no, he might be mistaking this to mean I don’t like that…!)
[YUZUKI]: “U-um, Shingen-san—“
[SHINGEN]: “Then I’ll just do this.”
[YUZUKI]: “Wha… Ah!?”
The instant I felt my arm get pulled I found myself in Shingen-san’s arms.
[YUZUKI]: (I’m… being carried by Shingen-san!?)
