Chapter 1: Imminent Danger
Looking for clues on Himemiko, Shingen and the others proceeded smoothly towards Mouri territory.
However, the scouts brought back “troubling information”…
[MASAKAGE]: “Hold on for a moment.”
Masakage-kun said that and approached me.
[YUZUKI]: “Erm… um, Masakage-kun?”
[MASAKAGE]: “Don’t move. I’m checking it out right now.”
[YUZUKI]: (Checking it out… what is it…?)
I stayed still as I was told while wondering what it was. Masakage-kun tilted his head curiously.
[MASAKAGE]: “Hrmm, it really is that…”
It was Masanobu-san who gave a helping hand, unable to just stand and watch while I was confused and couldn’t understand the situation.
[MASANOBU]: “Masakage, it’s not good to put her on the spot like that.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Huh? What are you…”
Being told this, Masakage-kun suddenly looked at me. And then, the moment I thought his face was red, he hurriedly made space.
[MASAKAGE]: “S-sorry! It wasn’t on purpose, okay!?”
[MASAKAGE]: “It’s because the same smell as Shingen-sama came from you on the wind just now…”
[MASANOBU]: “Huh, the same smell as Shingen-sama…”
[NOBUHARU]: “Ha ha ha! So, you two ended up in that sort of relationship in the end, I see!”
[MASATOYO]: “In that case, you should have told us…”
I felt my cheeks grow hot at Masanobu-san and everyone’s meaningful reactions and hurriedly denied it.
[YUZUKI]: “Y-you’re mistaken! We were riding together on a horse, so it’s probably that…!”
[MASAKAGE]: “Nah, it wouldn’t be so distinct if it was just that.”
[YUZUKI]: (Even if he says that I can’t think of anything els… ah!)
[YUZUKI]: “I think this is the cause of the same smell!”
I brought out the satchet I kept carefully and showed Masakage-kun.
Masakage-kun brought his nose close to the satchet and nodded.
[MASAKAGE]: “Aah, it’s this. This is the smell.”
[MASATOYO]: “Oh? You haven’t given Shingen-sama the satchet you bought the other day yet?”
[MASANOBU]: “No. The design is different. The one she bought had a more subdued color. This one is likely…”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes. I got it from Shingen-san.”
Everyone understood then, but only Masakage-kun seemed to be unhappy somewhere.
[MASAKAGE]: “… Ohh. You two have matching things, huh.”
[NOBUHARU]: “Masakage, the jealousy of a man is unattractive.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Wha!? Y-you’ve got it wrong! It’s not like I’m…!”
[MASANOBU]: “If you’re envious, Masakage, then why don’t you gift her something matching?”
[MASAKAGE]: “I’m saying you guys are wrong!”
[MASATOYO]: “If you don’t know what to give then it’s best to ask her directly.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Masatoyo, even you…!”
I thought about how everyone’s liveliness and energy was the same as it was back in Takeda’s castle.
[YUZUKI]: (Like this I almost forget we might have a war after this…)
[YUZUKI]: (If Himemiko-sama’s wish is granted then I’m sure these peaceful days would continue.)
[YUZUKI]: (Ah, but… if Himemiko-sama’s wish is granted then I might not be together with everyone any longer, huh…)
Even though I should have wished to return home to my original world, sadness pricked at my heart.
[YUZUKI]: (Still, I need to grant Himemiko-sama’s wish. For Himemiko-sama, the peace of Shinga, and… for everyone in Takeda.)
The moment I clenched my fist tightly with resolve, Shingen-san came over with an urgent look.
[SHINGEN]: “Hey, everyone come over here!”
[MASANOBU]: “Is something the matter?”
[SHINGEN]: “The scouts brought back troubling information. We’re holding a war meeting at once.”
[SHINGEN]: “Also, Masatoyo, call for a messenger right now. I want to share this information with Uesugi and Sanada.”
The calm atmosphere just moments ago transformed completely into tension and a bad premonition spread slowly through my heart.
[YUZUKI]: (Troubling information… what could it be…?)
