Chapter 2: In These Eventful and Critical Times
The war began at last. In the middle of the coalitions clashing, Kenshin confronted Nobunaga.
In a tense atmosphere, a battle unfolded between the two. However, bad news was brought there…
[KENSHIN]: “—Everyone has gathered, I see. From here, the Uesugi army departs for the front along with the Takeda and Sanada army!”
At the same time as dawn broke Kenshin-san’s voice resounded and Kageie-san, including the Uesugi army, roused themselves.
[KAGEIE]: “Alright! Let’s knock all our enemies down! Advance-guard, with me!!”
[KANETSUGU]: “Kageie-san is fired up. We should get going too, Kagekatsu.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Oh dear, please don’t lose that momentum before we arrive at the battlefield.”
Seeing everyone leading their soldiers, I once again felt the reality of heading to war from here.
[YUZUKI]: (The war is starting at last…)
[KENSHIN]: “Here you are.”
[KENSHIN]: “You should also get on quickly.”
My hand, which I was clenching, was taken and when I sat on the horse Kenshin-san saw my restless state and spoke to me in a calm voice.
[KENSHIN]: “Are you alright?”
[YUZUKI]: “I’m a little nervous…”
[KENSHIN]: “I see—“
[KENSHIN]: “However, we are with you. Be at ease.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Thank you.”
[YUZUKI]: (Somehow it feels like Kenshin-san can see through to everything I’m thinking…)
[YUZUKI]: (I need to be firmer—! I shouldn’t be worried and I should go with feelings of at least supporting everyone.)
[KENSHIN]: “Hold on tightly.”
Kenshin-san smiled for an instant but then immediately he returned to a grim expression and we departed to attack the allied forces of Oda, Toyotomi, and Date.
Right at the place where they would leave the forest after a little further, Kenshin-san pulled the reins of his horse and stopped its walk.
[KENSHIN]: “Set up the military camp here. —Kagekatsu, Kanetsugu.”
[KAGEKATSU + KANETSUGU]: “My lord!”
[KENSHIN]: “You two will protect this place.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “!! Father, if you’re going with the advance-guard then I too…!”
[KENSHIN]: “She will be left here. This is an important place on the battlefield.”
[KENSHIN]: “Be firm in protecting it.”
[KAGEKATSU]: “Father… yes, I understand.”
[KENSHIN]: “Kanetsugu, I am entrusting this to you as well.”
[KANETSUGU]: “… Yes.”
Both of them looked as if they didn’t agree a little, but they quietly nodded to Kenshin-san’s words.
When Kagekatsu-kun and Kanetsugu-san stepped back Kenshin-san turned gentle eyes towards me.
[KENSHIN]: “… Will you wait?”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes… If something happens where my power is needed, please come back right away.”
[KENSHIN]: “Aa. However, those feelings alone are more than enough.”
[KENSHIN]: “—Kagemochi, Kageie, we’re leaving.”
Saying that, Kenshin-san left, accompanied by Kagemochi and Kageie.
[YUZUKI]: (The war’s already started beyond this place…)
[KANETSUGU]: “Don’t ever leave us.”
[YUZUKI]: “… Okay!”
[YUZUKI]: (Right now, I can only believe in them and wait… Kenshin-san, everyone, please come home safe.)
In the middle of shouts and the sounds of slashing coming from here and there, Kageie and Kagemochi struck back at the enemy soldiers that came one after another.
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Kageie, there aren’t any problems there?”
[KAGEIE]: “Yeah, no problems.”
[KAGEIE]: “No matter how many bunches come, I’ll just defeat them! Haagh!”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “I am of the same opinion.”
They ran through their enemies for a while until Kageie noticed a shadow standing in the way.
[KAGEIE]: “… Mrm, I can see something.”
[KAGEMOCHI]: “Kenshin-sama, could that be—“
[KENSHIN]: “Yes, I know.”
At the end of Kenshin’s stare was the figure of Nobunaga’s allied forces.
