Chapter 2: Walking on Eggshells
Shingen and the others advanced while cutting down the enemy soldiers. Exchanging a bout with Hideyoshi and the others, they moved forward aiming to join up with the forces of their allies.
There the figure of a single man appeared…
[MASAKAGE]: “Nobuyuki’s gone!?”
Everyone was disturbed by the information that was conveyed from Yukimura-san.
[SHINGEN]: “What exactly does that mean?”
[YUKIMURA]: “Just as it sounds. After I talked about my thoughts for the future, he said he wouldn’t follow me and then disappeared.”
.[MASANOBU]: “To think Nobuyuki would leave Sanada…”
[NOBUHARU]: “I thought he held pride as a commander of the Sanada army…”
[YUZUKI]: (Certainly, Nobuyuki-san looked like someone who cherished the Sanada army…)
[MASAKAGE]: “He isn’t just gone for a moment or anything?”
[YUKIMURA]: “… No, I was told clearly that he wouldn’t obey me.”
[MASATOYO]: “No way…”
[YUKIMURA]: “We should have been together forever…”
[YUKIMURA]: “This is the first time I can’t understand my brother’s thoughts…”
Yukimura-san’s complexion was terribly pale and when Masatoyo-san called out to him in concern he nodded without energy.
[YUKIMURA]: “… I’m fine. As a general, I can’t let myself be shaken by something like this.”
Yukimura-san said that, gritting his teeth, and then after a short period he looked forward with strong eyes.
[YUKIMURA]: “If I lose my composure, it’ll affect the morale of the soldiers.”
[MASAKAGE]: “There’s no time before the war, so we’ll look for him too.”
[YUKIMURA]: “No, I can’t involve you in Sanada’s problem.”
[SHINGEN]: “… Well, Nobuyuki isn’t a kid either. If he personally left then it means he has that strong of a will.”
[SHINGEN]: “I’m sure even if we tried to convince him, his mind won’t waver.”
[YUKIMURA]: “I think so too… I’m certain my voice won’t reach my brother currently.”
[SHINGEN]: “Don’t worry about the war. We’ll assist with the hole Nobuyuki left.”
[YUKIMURA]: “Ah, thanks. Sorry about this right before the war.”
Saying this, Yukimura-san left slowly towards the Sanada army’s camp site.
[YUZUKI]: (Yukimura-san… I hope he’ll be okay.)
[SHINGEN]: “… Everyone, I know you’re worried but get even a little rest for tomorrow.”
[YUZUKI]: (… I need to rest early, but I’m wide awake.)
When I walked around to relax myself a nearby bush shook and rustled before Imari-kun’s face popped out all of a sudden.
[YUZUKI]: “Imari-kun, you’re safe!”
[IMARI]: “Yes! I’m glad you’re safe too!”
[IMARI]: “Um… there’s a really heavy atmosphere. Did something happen…?”
I explained the events up to now in order and Imari-kun’s eyes widened with shock.
[IMARI]: “Wha!? There’s going to be a big war from here?”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes… it looks like the start is going to be tomorrow.”
[IMARI]: “I want to stay beside you too, but… I can’t be found by the commanders.”
[YUZUKI]: “I’ll be okay. This place is dangerous, so you have to run, Imari-kun.”
Imari-kun lowered his head, looking conflicted for a moment, but after a while he turned eyes filled with determination to me.
[IMARI]: “Then, while the commanders are distracted by the war, I’ll look for information on Himemiko-sama!”
[YUZUKI]: “Yes, please!”
After I saw off Imari-kun, who disappeared into the bushes, I was finally able to sleep.
Even when it was the next morning, Nobuyuki-san didn’t return, and the Sanada army was lacking their usual energy.
[MASAKAGE]: “… I wonder where Nobuyuki went.”
[MASAKAGE]: “It can’t be that he really abandoned Sanada…?”
[MASANOBU]: “I know you’re curious, but you can’t let yourself be influenced by that forever.”
[NOBUHARU]: “Mm, after all this is the critical moment.”
[YUZUKI]: (… The war is starting at last.)
[SHINGEN]: “… Looks like it’s about time. Alright, everyone let’s go!”
Under Shingen-san’s orders, the Takeda army began to march.
