Chapter 2: Walking on Eggshells
Shingen and the others advanced while cutting down the enemy soldiers. Exchanging a bout with Hideyoshi and the others, they moved forward aiming to join up with the forces of their allies.
There the figure of a single man appeared…
[YUZUKI]: “Those with minor injuries over here please!”
[YUZUKI]: (… Haa, even with treatment the number of injured isn’t decreasing. Moreover, the number of those who are seriously injured is increasing…)
It looked like the war was going to continue for a long time. In the melee, mixed with enemies and allies, the soldiers’ fatigue was also enormous.
Injured soldiers were carried one after another into the Takeda army’s camp.
How was the war progressing— I was worried, but I shook my head to change my thoughts.
[YUZUKI]: (I don’t have time to be worried right now. I need to do what I can as their herbalist…!)
[MASANOBU]: “Good work. Are there enough hands for treatment?”
[MASATOYO]: “We’ve brought medicine supplements.”
[YUZUKI]: “Ah, Masanobu-san and Masatoyo-san. Thank you very much.”
There was lack of composure somewhere in both of their expressions as they smiled kindly at me.
[YUZUKI]: (… They’ve been taking on all the enemies who have attacked the main camp, huh…)
[YUZUKI]: “… Are the two of you alright? You aren’t injured?”
[MASANOBU]: “We’re fine. As you can see, we’re both healthy.”
[MASATOYO]: “That’s right. You’re here as well, so there’s no problems at all.”
In contrast to their words, Masanobu-san and Masatoyo-san’s faces were lined with exhaustion.
[YUZUKI]: (Both of them are taking me into consideration… In that case, I can’t be the only one with a dark face.)
Concealing my uneasiness, I smiled at Masanobu-san and Masatoyo-san.
[YUZUKI]: “… I see. I’m still okay as well, so please rely on me a lot.”
After I smiled at them I saw the two of them off when they went to defeat the enemy again.
When I couldn’t see their figures anyamore, the worries I hid came back to haunt my heart again.
[YUZUKI]: (… I’m actually really scared. If something were to happen to someone—)
I was unable to bear it and squeezed the front of my chest. The moment I did so a gentle and soft fragrance tickled my nose.
[YUZUKI]: (Ah… this is…)
I brought out the satchet from my bosom. When I smelled the gentle scent I felt my feelings seemed to calm slightly.
[YUZUKI]: (It’ll be okay… If it’s Shingen-san, then I’m sure he’ll be alright.)
[NOBUHARU]: “Shingen… what’s the matter?”
[MASAKAGE]: “You’re staring at the arrow… Is there something about it?”
[SHINGEN]: “I’ll tell you the reason later. For now, we need to join up with Kenshin and Yukimura first!”
[SHINGEN]: “… I hope my prediction hasn’t hit the mark though…”
Shingen looked around the area and saw the figure of Kenshin fighting in the distance.
[SHINGEN]: “Phew, the Uesugi army is still close. Let’s meet with them.”
[MASAKAGE]: “Gugh…! But the enemies keep on coming!”
[NOBUHARU]: “That’s an annoyance. Let’s clear them in one go!”
Nobuharu’s one sideswipe easily scattered the approaching enemies.
[MASAKAGE]: “Wow… that was just one attack.”
[NOBUHARU]: “Fuhahaha! Let’s keep going!”
[SHINGEN]: “… Nobuharu-san’s momentum hasn’t declined at all. He fits his nickname of immortality.”
[SHINGEN]: “Don’t push yourself too hard, alright? You were fighting Maeda Toshiie alone after all.”
[MASAKAGE]: “No… I won’t lose either! Raaaagh!”
As if he was telling himself this, Masakage raised a rough voice and ran towards the enemies.
[MASAKAGE]: “Come on, come on, come on! Is that all you guys got!?”
[NOBUHARU]: “Fuhaha! Good, Masakage. Just like that!”
[MASAKAGE]: “—Jeez, is there no one worth fighting here!?”
[???]: “I shall introduce myself then.”
Suddenly, there was a quiet but strong voice.
[MASAKAGE]: “Who the heck are you. I haven’t seen you before. Whose army are you from?”
[SHINGEN]: “! Those horns… It can’t be that he’s—“
[MOTOHARU]: “I am the Mouri army’s Kikkawa Motoharu. Takeda commander, I’ll have you be my opponent for a match.”
