Chapter 3: Fortune and Misfortune Come By Turns
Masakage lost a battle with Kikkawa Motoharu of the Mouri army. Somehow his life managed to hang on, but his wounds were quite deep and his health was a battle against time. In order to save Masakage, she gave him blood immediately, but…?
[SHINGEN]: “This direction is… Mouri territory, huh.”
Shingen-san murmured this, seeing the light released from the sacred treasure.
[YUZUKI]: (There should be a clue on Himemiko-sama in Mouri’s lands… Could it be possible that Himemiko-sama is trying to lend her power? If that’s the case…)
[YUZUKI]: “If we follow this light, we might know of a way to save Masakage-kun.”
.[MASATOYO]: “The sacred treasure is an item related to Himemiko-sama. For it to shine in this situation, it might be some kind of clue but…”
[YUZUKI]: “If there’s the smallest possibility then I want to check it out. So, Mouri’s territory—“
[SHINGEN]: “Mouri territory is dangerous. The oni are too strong. I know that now after standing off against them.”
[SHINGEN]: “There’s no way I can let you go to a place where those guys are prowling around.”
[YUZUKI]: (I can understand Shingen-san’s reaction, since Masakage-kun received a serious wound. But…)
[YUZUKI]: “I want to save Masakage-kun! Please, let me go to Mouri territory!”
Shingen-san stared hard at me as I entreated him and then he sighed, as if resigned.
[SHINGEN]: “… Fine. Because you won’t bend your will now that it’s like this.”
[YUZUKI]: “Thank you so much…! Then, right now I’ll—“
[SHINGEN]: “Wait. First, let me talk to Kenshin and the others. If, in the worst case, you’re found by Mouri then things won’t end with just an apology.”
[NOBUHARU]: “The attack earlier was a warning not to approach Mouri’s lands. If they learned we ignored that and trespassed then, not just Takeda, but the other two armies will suffer an attack too.”
[SHINGEN]: “We’re crossing that sort of dangerous bridge. I have to discuss this with them.”
[YUZUKI]: (It’s true we need to talk to our allied armies, huh. But will Kenshin-san and Yukimura-san agree…?)
[SHINGEN]: “Don’t be so worried. Those guys should certainly agree.”
[SHINGEN]: “Because earlier, when the sacred treasure shone, it was just for a second but I saw a light stretch towards Mouri territory from their camps.”
[YUZUKI]: “You mean…”
[SHINGEN]: “Yeah. It’s likely those guys also have sacred treasures.”
[SHINGEN]: “Their companions are grievously wounded and in this desperate situation the sacred treasure lit up. If there was a way they could be saved then they’ll probably chase the light even if it’s dangerous.”
[SHINGEN]: “So, everything’ll be alright. Just relax and wait.”
I nodded at Shingen-san’s encouraging grin.
I organized my medicine for trespassing into Mouri’s lands alone while waiting for Shingen-san to return from the discussion.
[YUZUKI]: (To be honest, I’m worried about going to Mouri’s lands… but I’m certain that if we follow the light there should be a method to save Masakage-kun.)
It happened the moment I gripped the necklace that was still shining.
[IMARI]: “I saw a light and thought that maybe it was what I thought it was…! And it really was the sacred treasure!”
I told Imari-kun, who appeared from a bush, everything that happened up to now and Imari-kun told me that he would chase after the light a step ahead of me.
[IMARI]: “If I find anything out then I’ll let you know right away! So, see you!”
As I saw off Imari-kun, who had already become a small dot in no time, Nobuharu-san appeared.
[NOBUHARU]: “So here you are. Shingen’s returned.”
In the discussion with Kenshin-san and Yukimura-san, each army was to send one person towards Mouri’s lands and Masanobu became the one to come along from the Takeda army.
[YUZUKI]: “Masatoyo-san, I’m entrusting Masakage-kun to you.”
[MASATOYO]: “Leave him to me. He’s still in a dangerous situation but, maybe due to your blood, his condition is more stable than before.”
[YUZUKI]: (His complexion does look a little better, sort of. But it doesn’t change that it’s still dangerous, huh…)
[YUZUKI]: “Masakage-kun… I’ll definitely save you, so please wait.”
[MASANOBU]: “… Let’s go then. The commanders of the other armies are waiting.”
And so, we joined up with our traveling companions, Naoe Kanetsugu-san and Kamanosuke-san, and headed towards Mouri’s lands.
