Chapter 3: Overturn Adversity, the Light’s Guidance—
Shigezane suffered Kobayakawa Takakage’s attack and collapsed. The received wound was so deep that it wouldn’t heal even when the power of her blood was used…
Masamune and the others were under pressure to make a painful decision.
After the commander called Kobayakawa Takakage of the Mouri army left, there was only the injured and collapsed Shigezane-san who remained.
[MASAMUNE]: “Shigezane…? Hey, hold on, Shigezane…!”
I could tell at a glance that Shigezane-san wasn’t in a condition to respond to us.
[KOJUUROU]: “He’s received quite a severe wound… We need to treat him urgently.”
[MASAMUNE]: “Kgh! We’re returning to the main camp immediately.”
Masamune-san tried to lift up Shigezane-san in his arms but Kojuurou-san quietly stopped him.
[KOJUUROU]: “Calm down, Masamune. If you move him forcibly, you could damage his body all the more.”
[MASAMUNE]: “… Then what are you saying we should do? If we dawdle here then Shigezane will…!”
[KOJUUROU]: “… I have a request.”
Saying that, Kojuurou-san turned the conversation to me.
[YUZUKI]: “I understand. Please use my blood.”
[YUZUKI]: (That’s Shigezane-san’s sword…)
My sorrow increased even more upon seeing the sword that was thrown to the ground.
[YUZUKI]: (… Just a while ago he’d been talking about how he increased his training too.)
[YUZUKI]: (For something like this to happen… I really didn’t understand. Just what war is.)
I cut my fingertip with the tip of Shigezane-san’s blade while controlling my hands which were about to shake from my tears.
[YUZUKI]: “Shigezane-san… please drink it.”
I gently pressed my finger to drop blood into his mouth. I saw it enter his mouth for sure, but Shigezane-san’s appearance didn’t change.
[MASAMUNE]: “His appearance isn’t changing… Why?”
[KOJUUROU]: “It could be that his wounds are too deep. It’s severe to the extent where her blood cannot catch up, perhaps.”
[YUZUKI]: “That can’t be…!”
[KOJUUROU]: “… However, I think his condition is more stable than earlier. Let’s carry him to a safe place without delay.”
[MASAMUNE]: “Yeah, let’s hurry.”
When Masamune-san and Kojuurou-san decided, they immediately collected the soldiers nearby and pulled back to the main camp.
We returned to the main camp and immediately treated Shigezane-san as much as possible, but he didn’t regain consciousness and his pulse also seemed weak.
[KOJUUROU]: “I cannot say this is a good situation… Masamune, you might need to make a decision.”
[MASAMUNE]: “… I know.”
Maybe he heard my mumble because Kojuurou-san opened his mouth with a grave expression.
[KOJUUROU]: “The war isn’t over with this. The fact that our surroundings are full of enemies has not changed.”
[MASAMUNE]: “… It means we don’t have the leisure to bring along a burden.”
I could tell what both of them were thinking without anything further being said.
[YUZUKI]: (I… don’t want to lose Shigezane-san.)
[YUZUKI]: (I want to save Shigezane-san…!)
The instant I closed my eyes and strongly wished that a dazzling light suddenly overflowed in the area.
[KOJUUROU]: “This is…”
[MASAMUNE]: “The light of the sacred treasure…?”
Hearing both their words, I brought out the sacred treasure and the light shone all the more brighter— and pointed to one spot.
