Celebrating 9th Anniversary!

Posted on Updated on

EDIT: The random number generator spat out 322, so waterinegirl with 314 is our lucky winner! Thank you to everyone who participated or just commented <3!

Hello hello! Can you believe we’ve gone around the sun together again? First, I just wanted to thank all the old and new visitors to my blog for their support and interest. I’m happy if anyone manages to find enjoyment here at my blog, especially given this year we’re going through. Secondly, and most importantly, I hope you and your families are all managing to stay safe!

I seriously don’t know what to say in these posts, so I dug up my old anniversary post to see what was going on and… well, it looks like I finished another LN translation (Miss Appraiser) and then slotted in another one that I haven’t started (Deep Clouds). I, uh, did not manage to finish my WIP but I’m much more confident in my writing? LOL. Between then and now, I also became literate in Chinese and then immediately got sucked into Chinese otome mobage hell, which explains why I didn’t make any progress on any JP otome games (cough Piofiore cough).

But this blog is still here and plodding along to provide you guys with otome content from various places. I’m running out of things to say, so I’m just going to end this by thanking you all for your support again and I hope this blog remains a place for people to get away from their current troubles and indulge in fictional romantic stories.

PS. I’ll be hosting a giveaway this time too, although it’ll just be a drama CD translation.

  1. ONE drama CD translation.

  • Giveaway will start at 00:00 PDT 18 August 2020 and end at 23:59 PDT 25 August 2020.
  • Pick a number between 1-500 and tell me about something you’re proud of in this year.
  • I’ll be picking the winner with a random number generator!
  • I’ll edit in the winner and close comments for this post when the contest is over.

    Congratulations on your 9th anniversary!!
    Almost didn’t make it!
    Number – 463
Something I’m proud of this year – I bought an apartment!!!! I’m so happy haha. I worked so hard for my new place. I feel like I’ve peaked in life and it doesn’t get better than this.
    Congratulations again🥳

Thank you, thank you! Haha, you were about 2 hours before the deadline still, so not too bad!

That’s amazing! I think we also had another commenter here who moved into a new place and that’s just awesome. Having a place all to your own where you can decide what to do with it and, well, live your life just sounds great in general. I’m sure it must come with its own challenges like having to pay the bills and figure out how to fix things LOL but the freedom and independence must be great!

Congrats on 9 years! I’m mostly just a lurker but thank you for all your hard work on translating! I love reading through them and seeing your own notes and thoughts on how you interpret the source material. Your translations are always well written and it seems like you put a lot of effort into giving them that final polish!

I would say I’m proud of sticking with my new job this year. It’s been very stressful with a lot of overtime and it’s been hard for me to learn remotely with the pandemic, but I made it through so far so hopefully things will continue to work out in the future.

Aw, thank you so much for the congratulations and those nice comments. I can get a little passionate when talking about translations on my Twitter and I’m so happy to hear that the thought I put behind mine comes through text to everyone ;w; IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT NOT TO SPREAD MISINFORMATION! And I count bad translations as spreading part of this.

Oh gosh, I’ve felt awful for the graduating class this year because they have to head out into this climate and try to find a job!? Brutal! It’s awesome to hear that you’ve been sticking it out though and I’m sure it’ll get easier as time goes on. I also hope the people at your job are understanding of all the new challenges you have to face with remote learning and just… remote doing the job in general! If you’ve already gotten over the beginning (and landed the job) I’m sure it’ll all work out!

Congrats on your 9th anniversary! I had no idea you were doing this for 9 years damn. One of my friends introduced me your blog.

Something I’m proud of this year is honestly how I’m still mentally stable during this pandemic. I’m a nurse and people in my country simple CANNOT wear a mask.
WEAR A MASK! It’s not that hard.

Right!? I’m honestly surprised whenever I see these anniversaries come and go too, but it’s always nice to see old and new supporters and just visitors dropping into this otome corner! Thank you friend for me :D!

I’m so sorry to hear that and I feel so much for all the doctors, nurses, immunologists, and others who are probably going bonkers over all the false information floating around about the pandemic and the effects of wearing masks. I’m glad to hear that you’re staying strong still though and thank you for your service in taking care of so many people!!

Jumping out of the queue to let you and everyone know that it’s not too late yet! It ends at midnight PST today, haha, so there’s still roughly 12+ hours left. Haha, that’s an interesting thing to be proud of and I’m thankful for your support and views <3!

But holy crap the switch from learning Japanese to saving someone from a heart attack!? I'M REALLY GLAD YOU DID TOO, WOW.

    Happy 9th anniversary!!!
I only discovered you in April of this year so I’m a relatively new fan/reader. Your translations are always so detailed and well-constructed. You have a way with words and it’s such a pleasure to read. I love that you give your input as well.

I think you mentioned somewhere that you’re writing a novel. I’ll 100% support you if you plan on publishing it one day! If you don’t mind me asking, what is it about?

I’m amazed that you learned how to read and write in both Chinese and Japanese. You must’ve worked really hard on improving your skills! I’m grateful for people like you who bridge the gap between drama CDs and listeners.

Also thank you for introducing me to DUSK! The newest drama CD looks interesting (Violation Guard). When I saw the title and thumbnail I thought it’ll be another yandere-ish r*pe fantasy sort of drama but after reading the description and the tags it seems more hurt/comfort with a slice of revenge from the male character. I’m very intrigued. This seems a little different from DUSK’s usual stuff.

    Number: 223

Something that I’m proud of this year – saving money. I’ve been reading a lot about the FI/RE movement lately and I want to work towards it. It has help me curb a lot of my bad spending habits the past couple months.

Oh gosh (๑→‿←๑) thank you so much for saying I have a way with words, ahh. I’m always grateful and happy to chat with people on this blog no matter how long or short they’ve been here, so thank you for dropping into some posts and keeping me company, haha.

I have a couple that I’ve been developing, but the one I’m focusing all my time on right now is a modern story about superheroes! The elevator pitch goes that a minority of people in the world get superpowers at a certain age and the heroine ends up with a red string that connects her to her soulmate. However, he always dies, she follows, and then wakes up in a parallel universe with her memories. The heroine ends up wanting to find a way to remove her superpower and that’s where our story starts!

Haha, although I’m proud of my rocket speed at learning Chinese, I always have to preface it with the fact that I sort of cheated since I speak Mandarin at home and I was really just… illiterate. So, rather than learning a whole new language, I was (and still am) memorizing words.

Honestly, at this point I trust Dusk with anything LOL I can only count on one hand some of their works that was “meh” to me and it’s actually their comedy series. They’re not bad, but I could easily tell from the summaries that it wasn’t for me because of an aggressive heroine and sort of… dorky and nice men. But, yup, the summary for the warden one is pretty interesting and the guy actually sounds like he really respects the heroine.

Ooh, I had to look up that movement because I’ve never heard of it before and that looks really interesting! Also, saving money (in this climate!?) is definitely something to be proud of and also planning for the future like that is important! As I always like to tell people, please be sure to buy drama CDs responsibly, haha!

Congratulations on 9 years!! It’s really amazing that you’ve been active for so long! I think i’ve been visiting your blog for maybe about 2-3 years now, your honestly one of my favorite translators. 💖 I was so sucked into the universe of kankinkon because of your translation, and i loved reading your twitter thread on it!
As for something i’m proud of this year, I guess it would have to be indulging in my interests funnily enough? I’ve always had a tough time allowing myself to enjoy things without feeling guilty about it, like making art or listening to drama cds. This is the year where I’ve finally decided to try and love myself!! And your blog has actually helped the process so thank you so much again!!!
    Also! I pick number 404!

I’m honestly surprised too every time it comes around and I add another number. Now I have to keep this going to reach the big One-Zero, haha. Oh gosh, thank you so much for your lovely words ;w; that’s an honor and I’m also glad I’ve been able to keep providing content that interests you!

I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! SERIOUSLY! I can sympathize with having hobbies that other people somewhat look down on (otome stuff because ~romance~ and ~girly~ things) but it’s so freeing to just be yourself and let yourself like whatever “cringy” things you like! That is definitely something to be super proud of!

Congratulations on the blog’s 9th year anniversary!! I can’t believe it’s been that long x) I originally came here for the first two Hana Awase games and then fell off the map for a long time until Iroha-hen came out last November. That’s when I remembered your blog and decided to see if you were still active and you were!

Something I’m proud of this year: I started work on my own VN otome game!! Your blog and writing inspired me that I could be creative too regardless of how busy I was.

Thank you for everything and all of your hard work!

The length of time between each Hana Awase game was so long, haha. I’m a bit sorry that you couldn’t return to see that I’ve blogged more HA though :’)) time where!! Thank you for keeping this blog in your thoughts though!!

That’s awesome and I’m wishing you all the best and a smooth creative process! Every little bit of work counts even if you manage to just get one line down after a busy day!!

Edit: Pst, don’t forget to choose a number if you want to participate in the giveaway!
